A source tells ProFootballTalk that Rob Gronkowski (back, forearm) is likely to play against the Saints Week 6.

This time, it feels real. Although Gronkowski has been practicing with his teammates for weeks now and is on the verge of medical clearance, he was taking his time to ensure his fragile forearm was truly 100 percent. The ever-reliable Jay Glazer reported a couple weeks ago that Week 6 was the true target date. Patient owners that have been stashing Gronk can pencil him back into lineups. Even if he's on a snap count Sunday, he's a must-start TE1. Gronkowski has 28 touchdowns in his last 27 regular season games.

According to the Bills' official website, C.J. Spiller is likely to touch the ball 20 times per game "if the offense is operating at peak efficiency."

The site calls Spiller the "bell cow" in a quartet also involving Fred Jackson, Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon. It's an optimistic projection, and one hard to take too seriously after the Bills claimed Spiller would be fed "till he pukes" last season. He ended up averaging just 15.6 touches per game, playing through a sprained ankle and being used between the tackles far too often. A healthy Spiller is exciting and he'll bring plenty of upside, but it's unlikely the coaches see him as a workhorse. We're thinking something around 15-18 touches per game.

The Packers' goal is to run 75 offensive plays per game this season.

The Broncos led the league at 72.1 plays per game last season; the Pack were 11th at 66.8. Getting 75 offensive snaps off weekly isn't very realistic, but speaks to the tempo at which coach Mike McCarthy wants his team to play. The goal is to prevent defensive substitutions, keeping opponents in base formations. "We play pretty fast, but you always want to play faster," McCarthy said. More plays mean more box score production across the board, especially with Aaron Rodgers at the controls. Target Packers in 2014 fantasy football drafts.

ESPN Cardinals reporter Josh Weinfuss believes Rob Housler is "sitting at No. 4 right now" on Arizona's tight end depth chart, behind John Carlson, Jake Ballard, and rookie Troy Niklas.

"He's just not the type of tight end head coach Bruce Arians prefers," Weinfuss writes. The Cardinals' website seems to agree, also projecting Carlson and Ballard ahead of Housler. Once Niklas (hand surgery) gets healthy, it will be interesting to see if Housler goes on the trade block. The Patriots, Giants, Packers, and Falcons could also use an athletic, catch-first tight end.

Ravens CB Jimmy Smith was arrested for disorderly conduct Saturday night.

Police responded to a call about an unconscious woman in a bathroom at a bar, and Smith was cited for failure to obey a lawful order of a police officer. Smith was reportedly trying to assist the woman but wouldn't move away from her after police repeatedly asked him to do so. Smith was released from custody at 11:15 PM Saturday night and faces a misdemeanor charge. He's the fifth Raven to be arrested since last season ended. Off-field issues led to Smith falling to the 27th pick in the 2011 draft. Smith will celebrate his 26th birthday later this month.

A source with knowledge of the situation tells Profootballtalk's Mike Florio that the "current thinking" is Vernon Davis will not report to training camp.

Davis skipped the 49ers' offseason program, but recently suggested he plans to attend camp later this month. Davis is now expected to be leaning toward holding out, though Florio allows that it could still go either way. The 49ers have refused to negotiate with disgruntled Davis or RG Alex Boone until they report back to the team. Davis can be fined $30,000 per day for missing training camp. Once fines start piling up, players typically cave.

A man claims he was assaulted by Dolphins C Mike Pouncey and Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey at the twins' birthday party at Cameo Nightclub in Miami Beach Friday night.

The alleged victim Ricky Vasquez took to Twitter, claiming he was "jumped by 4 bouncers and the Pouncey Twins." Vasquez added he was attacked because of his sexual orientation, claiming the assailants used homophobic slurs and saying, "I feel like I just got gay bashed." The Miami Beach PD released a statement saying, "There was an incident that occurred at Cameo last night at 4:20 a.m., where an alleged assault took place. We have not confirmed it's the Pouncey brothers that are the subjects, but we are going to have detectives contacting the victims to investigate further." This is not the first time the brothers' birthday party has made the news. The two got into hot water at last year's event for wearing "Free Hernandez" hats in support of former Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez. This incident is obviously more serious, and if founded, could lead to legal action as well as suspensions for each player.

WGR 550 Buffalo's Joe Buscaglia suggests Fred Jackson could lose snaps this season to Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon.

We see Dixon more as a special teamer, but the Bills gave up significant compensation for Brown (a conditional fourth-round pick that could improve to a third-rounder), and will probably want to carve out a role for him. While Jackson should remain heavily involved due to his pass-protection prowess, his touches are a virtual lock to sink. Jackson will be 33 1/2 years old in Week 1.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel believes Jarrett Boykin will be "hard to dislodge" from his No. 3 receiver role on the Packers.

Assuming he holds off second-round pick Davante Adams -- who struggled with drops during OTAs -- Boykin's outlook is particularly intriguing due to Green Bay's lack of an established pass-catching tight end. He could easily be Aaron Rodgers' No. 3 pass option this year, behind Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb. Boykin has a chance to be a re-draft-league steal. His ADP is the late-11th round.

ESPN Colts reporter Mike Wells believes Trent Richardson will not be given a long leash by the team if he doesn't produce quickly this season.

Wells calls it "unlikely" the Colts would "wait for him to get going" if Ahmad Bradshaw and Vick Ballard show well early, either in training camp, the preseason, or regular season games. With two weeks before camp opens, T-Rich's fantasy Average Draft Position has settled into the middle of round five. He's going ahead of Ben Tate, Joique Bell, Stevan Ridley, and Steven Jackson.

Colts waived WR LaVon Brazill.

A sixth-round pick in the 2012 draft, Brazill flashed on the field during two seasons with the Colts, but was suspended twice, including a full-year ban for violating the league's substance abuse policy in early July. He won't be eligible to play this season, even in the unlikely event he's claimed on waivers. Brazill, 25, has 23 catches for 347 yards (15.1 YPR) and three touchdowns through 25 NFL appearances. He scored two TDs in Indy's January playoff loss to the Patriots.

After speaking to four NFL executives regarding potential trade compensation for Andre Johnson, the Sideline View's Lance Zierlein received answers ranging from a second- to fifth-round pick.

Although the Houston Chronicle's John McClain has been adamant the Texans will not trade Johnson, it's worth remembering McClain was adamant for most of the pre-draft process that the Texans would not select Jadeveon Clowney at No. 1 overall. (They did.) We suspect GM Rick Smith would seriously consider dealing Johnson if a win-now team offered a 2015 second-round pick. If the offer were a fourth- or fifth-rounder, the Texans should comfortably pass.
