DeMarco Murray exited Sunday night's Week 6 game against the Redskins with a left knee sprain.

Murray limped off the field in the second quarter and has been taken to the locker room for further evaluation. His return is questionable. With Lance Dunbar (hamstring) inactive, Joseph Randle is in the game at running back.

ESPN Chiefs reporter Adam Teicher reports Jamaal Charles "hasn’t regained the role -- full-time featured back -- he had before last season’s torn ACL."

Teicher reports Spencer Ware is handling most of Kansas City's first-team running back reps in practice. Specifically, Teicher wrote that Ware "generally gets a lot of the starter’s snaps in practice. Charcandrick West gets some. Sometimes there are a few left for Charles, too." On Tuesday, coach Andy Reid said Tamba Hali (knee) is "a little further along than what Jamaal is right now," in their respective recoveries. At this point, it's unclear what Charles' role will be in Week 1 against the Chargers. An early-year RBBC appears likely. Due to their backfield depth, Teicher suggests the Chiefs "can afford to take the longer view with Charles."

The Vikings announced Teddy Bridgewater suffered a completely torn ACL and dislocated knee at Tuesday's practice.

This was the fear. Bridgewater also suffered "other structural damage," and he's obviously done for the season. The Vikings expect Bridgewater to make a full recovery, but when exactly he'll be healed is anybody's guess. It's going to be a long, lonely rehab for the 24-year-old (in November). Minnesota's playoff chances take a big hit, even if Bridgewater isn't scaring many defenses with his arm. He showed tangible signs of progress the past year. Veteran backup Shaun Hill is a big downgrade. Adrian Peterson will be relied on even more.

Packers released P Tim Masthay.

Masthay has been the Pack's punter since 2010, but they'll move forward with Jake Schum, who was claimed off waivers on Tuesday. Masthay was due $1.2 million after coming in 14th in net-punting average last season. He'll get calls whenever someone needs a punter.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase said DeVante Parker (hamstring) needs to do "the little things" off the field to stay healthy.

Parker tweaked his left hamstring in Monday's practice after missing several weeks of camp with a similar injury. "I feel like I’ve been through this with Demaryius [Thomas] in Denver," Gase said. "Sometimes it takes some guys more time to learn more than others. Eventually ... he will know how to push through certain kinds of pain." Gase is clearly frustrated with the sophomore, who has fallen behind Kenny Stills on the depth chart. Parker still has more fantasy upside than Stills, but he is a risky pick in the eighth round.

Bucs placed LG J.R. Sweezy (back) on the reserve/PUP list.

Sweezy's outlook has gotten progressively worse since he went under the knife in April. He'll be first eligible to return in Week 8, but it doesn't seem like a guarantee. Kevin Pamphile, who has made only four career starts, will fill in at left guard. It's a concern for a team that wants to run the ball down teams' throats.

Patriots placed RT Sebastian Vollmer (hip, shoulder) on the reserve/PUP list.

Vollmer is expected to miss the entire season, but the Patriots are at least creating the possibility that he could return. Marcus Cannon will fill in for however long Vollmer is sidelined.

Redskins placed RB Keith Marshall on injured reserve with a damaged UCL in his elbow, ending his season.

Marshall was given a three-week timeline upon going down, but either his prognosis got worse, or the Redskins used his injury as an opportunity to free up a roster spot. Marshall was a hyped seventh-rounder out of Georgia, but didn't make nearly as much noise once the pads went on. Injuries are nothing new for Marshall, whose time in the SEC was marked by one ailment after another. UDFA Rob Kelley will begin the year as Matt Jones' direct backup.

Steelers placed TE Ladarius Green (ankle, headaches) on the reserve/PUP list.

It was the expected outcome even though no one really knows what's truly sidelining the fifth-year tight end. Green and the Steelers both claim it is his ankle, but his agent said earlier this month that his ankle was fine. The headache rumors have not been completely debunked. Considering just how up in the air the situation is, Green shouldn't be stashed in re-draft leagues. Jesse James will open the year as the Steelers' pass catcher at tight end.

John Brown (headaches, concussion) has been cleared to resume playing.

He could suit up for Thursday's exhibition finale, but almost certainly won't. Brown hasn't played a snap this preseason, but the Cardinals obviously aren't going to further risk his health. The lingering nature of Brown's concussion issues is a definite concern, but he'll be out there for Week 1. Brown has become a risk/reward WR3 in the Cardinals' crowded receiver corps.

Vikings released C John Sullivan.

The Vikings could not find a trade partner, so they cut the cord on Sullivan in favor of Tony Sparano pal Joe Berger. Still only 31 years old, Sullivan was one of the top centers in football in 2014, before missing all of 2015 with back problems. There are a number of teams around the league that could use help on the pivot. After losing Nick Martin, the Texans immediately come to mind.

49ers placed WR Bruce Ellington on injured reserve with a torn hamstring, ending his season.

Competing for a starting job, Ellington was an intriguing sleeper headed into training camp. His loss further thins San Francisco's embarrassingly-thin receiver corps, and means recently-acquired Jeremy Kerley could have to man the slot. Coach Chip Kelly has almost nothing to work with on offense. Now 25, Ellington will head into the final year of his rookie deal with all of 19 career catches.
