Panthers placed G/C Jeff Byers on injured reserve with a left Lisfranc injury, ending his season.

Byers underwent season-ending surgery Monday. Byers was filling in at right guard in place of Chris Scott, who was sidelined by a balky knee. Byers has appeared in 22 games the past two seasons, making seven starts. He'll be a restricted free agent in the spring.

According to ESPN's Bob Holtzman, A.J. Green (bicep) will play in Sunday night's game against the Steelers but is "uncertain what to expect."

Green "badly" bruised his bicep during last week's win over the Broncos. He attempted to play through it briefly, but was in too much pain and left for good in the third quarter. Green has obviously gotten some of the soreness out over the last six days and earned a "probable" tag, but he doesn't sound close to 100 percent.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Terrance West will start against the Ravens in Week 17.

Literally laughing out loud. This comes a week after West played zero snaps because of poor practice habits. But he's getting the nod over Isaiah Crowell. It'll be hard not to fire up the Ravens defense anywhere and everywhere in fantasy. The Ravens need a win, and the Browns will trot out UDFA Connor Shaw at quarterback, West in the backfield, and be without Josh Gordon.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Josh Gordon is viewed as a "perpetual problem" inside the Browns' organization and "has to go."

Let the pile-on begin. The Gordon bashers have come out in full force the past month, and it's now coming to a head after the team suspended him for the season finale because he missed Saturday's walkthrough. Words like "former star" and "habitually late" were also mentioned in the CBS piece. The Browns put up with Gordon's problems when he posted one of the best seasons in NFL history last season, but now that their season has collapsed in front of them, it's time to throw blame wherever. And Gordon and Johnny Manziel are the ones receiving it. The Browns have been an historically-bad organization for years now. They'd be dumb to dump Gordon. But it appears a split may be coming.

NFL Network's Albert Breer reports Steven Jackson (quad) will not play Week 17 against the Panthers.

Julio Jones (quad) will play. None of this is a surprise. Jacquizz Rodgers is expected to get the start for the Falcons, and he and Devonta Freeman will split the snaps. Freeman is the better bet for fantasy production.

Dave Feldman of CSN Bay Area reports Jim Harbaugh will be the next head coach at the University of Michigan.

Feldman reports Harbaugh will be introduced in Ann Arbor on Tuesday. A Michigan alum, Harbaugh wound up spending four seasons as the 49ers' head coach before a falling out with GM Trent Baalke, compiling a record of 43-19-1 entering Sunday's season finale against Arizona. Harbaugh was the head coach at Stanford in the prior four years and knows the college game. It's believed Baalke will now pursue a coach willing to accept less power. In-house candidates will be DC Vic Fangio and DL coach Jim Tomsula. Together, Harbaugh and Baalke turned around a 49ers organization that had previously missed the playoffs in eight straight years. Their divorce was known to be inevitable entering the 2014 season.

Browns suspended Josh Gordon for Week 17 against the Ravens for a violation of team rules.

Gordon was placed on the reserve/suspended list. WR Phil Bates was promoted off the practice squad to take his place. The Browns did not announce why Gordon was suspended, but NFL.com's Mike Silver reports Gordon missed the Browns' Saturday walk through. The suspension ends a tumultuous season for Gordon. After missing the first 11 weeks of the season serving a league-mandated suspension, Gordon looked out of shape and unfamiliar with the playbook as he struggled his way to 24 catches for 303 yards and zero touchdowns in five starts. Bad quarterback play certainly contributed to Gordon's disappointing stretch, but he was not the transcendent talent that took the league by storm in 2013. Coming off a down season and now serving his third suspension in two years, Gordon's Dynasty stock is crumbling.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Cowboys' starters practiced this week as if they were playing in a "regular role."

Needing basically a miracle to earn a first-round bye, the Cowboys have little reason to play their starters against Washington. That appears to matter little to coach Jason Garrett, who has been consistent the starters will play a normal role Week 17. A full game may be Dallas' intent, but it would not be surprising if Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray and Dez Bryant are pulled at some point in the game. All three are risky targets in daily formats.

The Boston Globe's Ben Volin expects Tom Brady to only play a half Week 17 against the Bills.

This report echoes an earlier report from ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss, who said the Patriots could treat the meaningless game as a fourth preseason contest. Regardless of the exact snap count, it is becoming clear Brady and the Patriots' starters will not play a full game against the Bills. Already in a tough matchup, Brady needs to be avoided in both seasonal and daily formats.
Dec 27 - 10:08 AM

The Boston Globe's Ben Volin believes Rob Gronkowski will receive "little-to-no playing time" in the Patriots' season finale against the Bills.

With nothing on the line Week 17, it makes little sense for the Patriots to play their dynamic but oft-injured tight end. Gronkowski could very well put up a goose egg Week 17, making him unplayable in both seasonal and daily formats. Tim Wright will likely see a bump in snaps with Gronk limited, but would be a poor option against the Bills' suffocating pass defense.
Dec 27 - 10:01 AM

Jamaal Charles (ankle, hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 17.

He was limited in practice each day this week. Slowing down over the course of the season, Charles has finished on a disappointing note from a fantasy perspective. The Chiefs need a win against the Chargers to have a shot at the playoffs, however, and Charles almost certainly will play. You can see where Patrick Daugherty has Charles ranked among Week 17 running backs at the link below.
Dec 26 - 4:28 PM

Bills DT Marcell Dareus (knee) and RCB Stephon Gilmore (concussion) are both listed as doubtful for Week 17 against the Patriots.

They're two of Buffalo's top defenders. The absences of Dareus and Gilmore may make it more likely New England builds a big early lead against Buffalo, allowing Bill Belichick to rest his starters in the second half. Or, Belichick may play his starters the entire game regardless. There is much uncertainty regarding playing time in New England this week.
