Coach Chip Kelly told reporters Monday he is committed to Nick Foles as the Eagles' long-term starting quarterback.

"He’s the starting quarterback for the next 1,000 years here," said Kelly. Foles has earned the commitment and then some with a 19:0 TD-to-INT ratio as a passer and 63.3 completion rate through nine appearances. He's rushed for two more scores, and the Eagles have quietly emerged as the NFL's most underrated team. We still wonder if Kelly will use a mid-round draft pick in 2014 on a more mobile signal caller, but Foles' future is obviously shining bright. He's on the cusp of stable QB1 value in Dynasty leagues, and will be an every-week starter during the 2013 fantasy playoffs.

Colts C Ryan Kelly (foot) will undergo surgery.

The team hoped to deal with the injury through rest, but Kelly apparently was not improving. Coach Chuck Pagano said the center will miss part of the regular season but declined to offer a timetable. With very little behind Kelly on the depth chart -- Brian Schwenke (foot) remains on the PUP -- the Colts likely will look to bring someone in. They met with Jeremy Zuttah this week, but he looks set to return to the Ravens. Free agent Nick Mangold could be an option.

Mitchell Trubisky knows he still has "a lot of work to do."

Trubisky was the talk of the first preseason week after completing 18-of-25 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown, but he is not getting too far ahead. "I was pleased with how I played," the rookie said, "but plenty more mistakes are going on during practice for me that I need to work on and continue to improve in my game." The Bears have been adamant about Mike Glennon starting all season, but their resolve will be tested if Trubisky continues to show well in the preseason.

ESPN Giants reporter Jordan Raanan reports LT Ereck Flowers had a rough practice on Monday.

Raanan writes Flowers had "five or six awful reps" which "several ex-NFL offensive linemen and some independent offensive line coaches" agreed were "brutal." One of those experts said the session was the, "Worst I’ve seen, period." The practice is not an aberration, either, as Flowers has consistently struggled throughout camp. The Giants bet on Flowers improving this offseason, but it looks like left tackle will once again be a huge area of concern.

Rams GM Les Snead said Tavon Austin (hamstring) will be "used very similarly" by the new coaching staff.

Austin was somewhat ridiculously pegged as a deep threat when new coach Sean McVay first came to town, but he has not been healthy long enough this offseason to really carve out a role. "We haven’t figured out how much he evolves as a receiver in this offense because he hasn’t had a chance to play," Snead said. "He threatens the opposing team in many different ways. We’ve just got to get him healthy." With Sammy Watkins now in the fold, Austin's chance at a meaningful role now looks even slimmer. He can be avoided in fantasy drafts.

Deshaun Watson said he feels in "control" of the offense.

"Honestly, in the spring I knew what I was doing, but at the same time my head was swimming," Watson said. "But whenever I step on the field today, I can go out there and control the offense and do what they ask me to do and make good decisions, fast." After saying Watson was further ahead than any rookie quarterback he has been around, coach Bill O'Brien probably would not take much offense to the rookie's self-evaluation. Tom Savage remains the starter, but Watson looks like he will make a strong push for the job before Week 1.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians questioned John Brown's place on the team if he is not able to overcome his sickle-cell issues.

Arians said he does not "have any choice" but to wait on Brown to fully recover from his quad injury, but even then the coach is not sure Brown will be able to contribute. "If he can’t run long enough (after he returns)," Arians said, "you’ve got to replace him." The coach has never been one to mince words, but this is a particularly harsh comment considering the illness with which Brown is battling. Still, Arians is clearly at his wit's end with his receiver group, and it would not be surprising if changes are on the horizon. Brown is a risky pick in the ninth round.

Both John Brown and coach Bruce Arians acknowledged Brown's sickle-cell trait is still an issue for Brown's health.

Brown has battled continued soft-tissue ailments, and says his sickle-cell trait slows the healing and recovery process. "That’s a fact," confirmed Arians. In such a violent sport where elite athletes are moving full speed in an open field, the ability to recover from injuries is absolutely critical for football-playing availability. Fantasy leaguers need to tread cautiously with Brown in drafts.

Third-round pick Kenny Golladay worked primarily with the first-team offense for the first time in training camp Wednesday.

To this point, Golladay had practiced primarily with Jake Rudock and the second team. Golladay has outplayed second-team status, and is now getting a long look with the Matthew Stafford group. Beat writer Dave Birkett expects Golden Tate to move to slot receiver if Golladay wins a starting outside job across from Marvin Jones. Golladay remains a better Dynasty than re-draft investment, but it's past time we took him seriously as a 2017 fantasy factor.

Ty Montgomery (leg) is expected to miss the Packers' second preseason game.

Montgomery is "working through" a lower leg injury that's sidelined him the last two days. The missed time creates some depth-chart leaping for fourth-rounder Jamaal Williams, who's getting most of Montgomery's practice reps. Williams is expected to start Saturday at Washington.

Brock Osweiler will start the Browns' second preseason game.

It's an expected decision despite Osweiler's poor showing in his preseason debut. DeShone Kizer will be the second quarterback through the rotation and remains in the mix for Cleveland's Week 1 job. Whoever starts the third preseason game will open the year as the starter.

The Baltimore Sun reports the Ravens are "close to a deal" with free agent C Jeremy Zuttah.

The Ravens have heated up talks with Zuttah after his Indy visit. The Colts are "still in the picture," but it would be surprising if Zuttah didn't return to Baltimore after a Pro Bowl 2016. Zuttah's multiple team interest should land him some guaranteed money.
