According to FOX's Jay Glazer, Wes Welker (concussion) will not play in Thursday night's game against the Chargers.

The Broncos figure to make this official later Wednesday. Welker has sustained two concussions in the last month and had virtually no shot of gaining clearance on a short week. After Welker left last week's game against the Titans, Jacob Tamme stepped into the slot role and produced a 4/47/0 line while playing on 45-of-46 snaps. Look for similar usage in Thursday's likely shootout.

Dolphins acquired LB Stephone Anthony from the Saints in exchange for a 2018 fifth-round pick.

It's a flier for the linebacker-needy Dolphins and a dump for the Saints. The No. 31 overall pick of the 2015 draft, Anthony flopped badly in New Orleans. He struggled as a rookie and was benched as a sophomore. He's currently recovering from a high-ankle sprain. He'll be a warm body for the Dolphins once he gets back to full health.

Giants coach Ben McAdoo could surrender play-calling duties.

McAdoo toyed with the idea in the offseason before deciding against it. The G-Men have averaged an abysmal 17.9 points in 18 games with McAdoo as head coach, so a change is arguably overdue. OC Mike Sullivan would likely take the reins were McAdoo to relinquish them.

Giants coach Ben McAdoo says the team is "absolutely" sticking with Ereck Flowers at left tackle for Week 3.

Flowers got his soul owned on Monday Night Football, single-handedly ending Ziggy Ansah's pass-rushing slump. He was whipped for three sacks, more or less torpedoing the Giants' offense. Flowers was just as bad in Week 1, as well as the preseason. The G-Men are running low on viable alternatives, but are likely nearing "anyone but Flowers" territory.

Jaguars claimed WR Jaelen Strong off waivers from the Texans.

Strong had worn out his welcome in Houston, but is still only 23, and just two years removed from being the No. 70 overall pick of the draft. The Jaguars have nearly nonexistent receiver depth behind Marqise Lee and Allen Hurns. It could be a nice fresh start situation for Strong, though it's ultimately hard to see what will be different from his time in Houston.

Dolphins suspended SLB Lawrence Timmons indefinitely for violating team rules.

Dealing with a personal situation, Timmons went AWOL from the team on Saturday night. He was reportedly back with the club on Monday, but the Dolphins have decided the transgression must be punished. "Indefinite" team suspensions have a way of lasting only a game or two, but Timmons' situation is extremely murky. Anything from one week to the Dolphins moving on completely is on the table. Under the CBA, four weeks is the max length of Timmons' suspension. The ban should void the $4.5 million guaranteed in Timmons' deal.

Browns placed WR Corey Coleman on injured reserve with a broken hand.

Coleman underwent surgery on his broken right hand Monday. The second-year pro is expected to be one of the Browns' "return" players. He can resume practicing in six weeks and return to game action in eight. That timeline pretty much takes him off the table as a hold in 12-team leagues, though Coleman should make an impact upon his return. He was off to a solid start, and the Browns have a dire situation at receiver.

49ers ILB Reuben Foster (high-ankle sprain) has shed his walking boot.

Foster seems to be progressing quickly — he was claiming he would be ready for Week 2 — but he'll likely miss at least one more game after going down in Week 1.

Bears waived WR Tanner Gentry.

A popular summer sleeper, Gentry was added to the 53-man roster after Week 1, and caught two passes in his Week 2 debut against the Bucs. His release is a disappointment for owners who took a flier in Dynasty leagues. It's a bit of a surprise from the receiver-desperate Bears, who will try to stash Gentry back on the practice squad.

The Chicago Tribune reports ex-Bears and Panthers CB Charles "Peanut" Tillman is training to join the FBI.

The FBI wouldn't confirm it, but the Tribune's report is based on "multiple individuals, including a "high-ranking law enforcement source." Prospective agents must be no older than 37 upon the time of their appointment. Tillman turns 37 next February. We wish Tillman success in his career changeup.

James Harrison has played just four snaps through the Steelers' first two games.

Even with some injuries to their front seven, the Steelers have kept 39-year-old Harrison glued to the sideline. "We know what James is capable of," coach Mike Tomlin said. "James will ready himself, and there will be a time in the season when we’ll call on his services, and he’ll deliver and deliver in a big way." Harrison was excellent in 2016, generating consistent heat. Right now, the Steelers would apparently rather go with their younger players. Perhaps they view Harrison as an ace in the hole, or perhaps he started to look his age in the offseason.

Panthers placed TE Greg Olsen on injured reserve with a broken foot.

Olsen underwent surgery on his broken right foot Tuesday. He's dealing with a "Jones" fracture. Julio Jones, Marvin Jones, Sammy Watkins and the NBA's Kevin Durant have all dealt with "Jones" fractures in recent years. The Panthers believe Olsen will return this season. He's eligible to practice after six weeks, and game action after eight. Ed Dickson takes over as the Panthers' starter. He won't be more than a low-end TE2 for fantasy purposes.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: Olsen’s absence will open up more targets for Kelvin Benjamin and Devin Funchess. Benjamin should command a larger market share and offers more upside; he’s currently 14th in yards per route among WRs with at least 25% of their team's targets (2.22), per PFF. Christian McCaffrey, who’s run the 5th-most routes among RBs, could benefit as well and the Saints just allowed New England’s RBs to combine for a 12/137/1 receiving line.
