Vikings GM Rick Spielman told Profootballtalk.com on Friday that there is "no chance" Adrian Peterson will be traded this offseason.

Minnesota could probably get a second-round pick for A.D., but the Vikings want him to finish his career playing in purple. "Adrian is not going anywhere," said Spielman, adamantly. "We have him under contract. He's the face of our franchise. He is a blue-chip player. And we have a new coaching staff in place, and (the Vikings are) very excited about what's coming ahead for us."

Cam Newton (back) took the majority of first-team reps at practice Thursday.

Newton appears on track to return after missing just one game. He'd slide in as a back-end QB1 against the Browns, although he'd come with risk. When Newton is hesitant to use his legs, his fantasy projection is severely capped.

T.Y. Hilton (hamstring) was not spotted at the beginning of Colts' practice Thursday.

It's a concern after the Colts said they tentatively expected Hilton back on the practice field Thursday. Given that they've already clinched the AFC South yet can't realistically earn a first-round bye, it's possible they'll exercise caution with their stud No. 1 wideout. If Hilton does sit against Dallas, Donte Moncrief and even Hakeem Nicks would be worth a look as streamers. Reggie Wayne (triceps) could be on a snap count.

LeSean McCoy admitted that Chris Polk is taking over as the Eagles' primary goal-line back.

Polk played three snaps in Week 15, turning two of them into short touchdowns. A third goal-line carry went to Darren Sproles. "Polk's obviously a little bit more powerful back, so they've been giving him some of the runs in short-yardage in a couple games, especially last game. ... "There's just some plays on 3rd-and-1 type of situations where I probably wouldn't have gotten it, where I see him kind of hit a guy, drag a guy and get in there," McCoy candidly conceded. It's not out of the question that Shady gets some goal-line chances in the flow of the Eagles' hurry-up scheme, but Polk is a drain on touchdown projections. We already know McCoy was struggling to churn up yards and has lost significant pass-game work to Sproles.

Julio Jones (hip) was not spotted at the beginning of Falcons' practice Thursday.

Jones is not expected to practice at all this week as he careens toward another game-time call. All owners can do is roster Harry Douglas or another backup plan and wait for more information. Note that Roddy White (knee) did return to practice Thursday.

CBS' Jason La Canfora says "every expectation" is that Case Keenum will start Sunday's game against the Ravens.

Bill O'Brien isn't tipping his hand between Keenum and Thad Lewis. But Keenum makes more sense as he was with the team throughout the offseason program and training camp before losing his backup job to Tom Savage and Ryan Mallett. However, Keenum was brutal in four preseason games going 28-of-52 (53.8%) for 254 yards (4.88 YPA) with zero touchdowns and two interceptions, good for a 51.3 passer rating. He's not even a two-quarterback league option against a Ravens defense that can cover their secondary woes with a swarming front seven.

Justin Forsett (ankle, knee) is no longer listed on the injury report.

Forsett has rotated out more often that usual the last two weeks, averaging 14.5 carries during that span vs. 22.0 the previous three weeks. Perhaps knee and ankle issues were to blame. Forsett was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, a strong sign he's nearing 100 percent again ahead of Sunday's game at Houston. "I feel good," he said. "This is actually one of the best Wednesdays that I've had in a while. So, my body is feeling good, maintaining, feeling ready to go."

According to CSN Philly's Reuben Frank, Chris Polk received the first running back rep at Eagles practice on Wednesday, ahead of LeSean McCoy.

McCoy laughed off the running back order following the practice, and Frank concedes it's "impossible to tell" if it actually meant anything. McCoy was reportedly "on the sideline while Polk worked with the first unit." Reporters were only able to view two practice reps before the session was closed to media. "We rotate all the time," McCoy said Wednesday afternoon. "(RBs coach) Duce (Staley) pulled me out. (Darren) Sproles wasn't in either." The Eagles are preparing to play the Redskins on Saturday evening. When Philly and Washington played earlier this year, McCoy managed 22 yards on 19 carries.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Bears will start Jimmy Clausen over Jay Cutler in Week 16 against the Lions.

The Bears are benching Cutler just 14 starts into his seven-year, $127 million extension. Per NFL Network's Mike Silver, coach Marc Trestman felt he could no longer start Cutler "simply to justify a contract" when his on-field play was so poor. Cutler regressed in his second season in Trestman's offense, leading the NFL in turnovers (24). Owed a fully guaranteed $15.5 million next year, the Bears' only option is to trade Cutler this offseason if they want to move on from him. Chicago would absorb $19 million in dead money by releasing Cutler before 2016.

Carlos Hyde (ankle, back) said he does not expect to play in Saturday's game against the Chargers barring a miracle.

Despite receiving good news following an MRI, it doesn't look like Hyde is going to be able to go on this short week. It's terrible timing, as Frank Gore (concussion) is in serious doubt as well. It's certainly possible the 49ers will be forced to roll with Alfonso Smith and Phillip Tanner at running back Saturday.
Dec 17 - 5:14 PM

Carlos Hyde (ankle, back) remained sidelined at Wednesday's practice.

Frank Gore (concussion) also remained out on Wednesday. The 49ers are on a short week with a game against the Chargers on Saturday night. With both Hyde and Gore uncertain for Week 16, the 49ers signed RB Phillip Tanner on Wednesday. Alfonso Smith and Tanner are the lone healthy backs on the roster.
Dec 17 - 4:50 PM

Keenan Allen (ankle, collarbone) has been ruled out for Week 16 against the 49ers.

As expected. Seyi Ajirotutu will fill the No. 3 receiver role behind Malcom Floyd and Eddie Royal. Look for Antonio Gates to see a bump in targets. Those hanging onto Allen in re-draft leagues can safely cut ties with him.
