Saints re-signed WR Joe Morgan to a one-year contract.

Morgan was a restricted free agent, but the Saints gambled they could sign him for less than the "low" tender of $1.431 million, letting him hit the open market. Morgan visited the Chiefs, but otherwise failed to generate interest as he recovers from a torn ACL. Going on 26, Morgan has serious separation skills, but has struggled to stay healthy. Seven months removed from his injury, Morgan is expected to be ready for training camp.

Cardinals QB Drew Stanton (sprained ACL, MCL) returned to practice Thursday, getting in a limited session.

It's an eye-brow raiser, but there's still little reason to believe Stanton will be ready to return just 10 days after spraining his knee. The Cardinals are likely just trying to confuse the situation for the Seahawks. It is a sign, however, that Week 17 could be a realistic possibility. Stanton's status will be updated on Friday, but we fully expect Ryan Lindley to be under center for Week 16.
Dec 18 - 7:19 PM

Kendall Wright (hand) is active for Week 16 against the Jaguars.

As is Delanie Walker (knee). It's a nice boost for fill-in quarterback Charlie Whitehurst, and limits Nate Washington's WR3 appeal. Wright isn't wearing any protective gear on his hand, and can be fired up as a WR4. Inactive for the Titans are QB Zach Mettenberger, LT Taylor Lewan, DB Jemea Thomas, LB Zaviar Gooden, LB Dontay Moch, OT Terren Jones and DT Mike Martin.
Dec 18 - 7:01 PM

Blake Bortles (foot) is active for Week 16 against the Titans.

The word comes straight from the team. Bortles' mid-foot "sprain" is apparently more of a tweak. It's good news for curious Thursday Night Football viewers, but Bortles has been playing absolutely-brutal football. Chad Henne would probably give the Jags a better chance to win, but that's obviously not their top priority right now. Jax needs Bortles to continue his on-the-field development. Bortles has thrown for multiple scores in just 2-of-12 appearances, and is taking an unholy amount of sacks.
Dec 18 - 5:09 PM

Jamaal Charles (knee, ankle) was upgraded to "full" on Thursday.

Charles is banged up, but he's proven effective at playing through minor injuries. He's locked in as a top-three RB1 against the Steelers' soft defense. Coach Andy Reid often loses the plot, but we expect him to feed Charles in a game the Chiefs have to win.
Dec 18 - 4:59 PM

Frank Gore is "moving through the concussion protocol," and expected to start Saturday's game against the Chargers.

Gore practiced on Thursday, getting in a limited session. It's excellent news for the 49ers, as Carlos Hyde (ankle, back) is expected to be sidelined. Struggling mightily in the second half of the season, Gore will be a middling FLEX play for the fantasy finals. He'll be backed up by FB Bruce Miller and Alfonso Smith.
Dec 18 - 4:53 PM

Julius Thomas (ankle) is practicing in full for Week 16.

It's an upgrade on Week 15, where Orange Julius began the week as "limited." The Broncos have hoodwinked fantasy owners in back-to-back games with Thomas' health, but he finally, truly appears ready to be full go. Thomas is a mid-range TE1 for the fantasy finals.
Dec 18 - 4:14 PM

The Texans consider DeAndre Hopkins (ankle) a game-time decision for Week 16.

Hopkins missed Wednesday and Thursday's practices. The "game-time decision" label should be taken with a grain of salt, as Texans coach Bill O'Brien fancies himself a spymaster, and would apply the GTD tag to a player even if they were only battling a cold. For now, owners need to sit tight and wait for more information to emerge. A back-up plan is definitely in order.
Dec 18 - 4:08 PM

Kyle Rudolph (ankle, knee) remained sidelined Thursday.

Rudolph is beginning to look shaky for Sunday's trip to Miami. Rudolph is coming off his first effective game of 2014, but will be difficult to trust as a TE2 at far less than 100 percent health. Rudolph has admitted his groin remains an issue in addition to his knee and ankle ailments. Chase Ford will start at tight end if Rudolph sits in South Beach.
Dec 18 - 3:54 PM

DeMarco Murray (hand) practiced for the second-consecutive day on Thursday, getting in a limited session.

Murray was officially listed as "DNP" on Wednesday even though he was observed by the assembled media as practicing. Either way, Murray continues to get reps, and has even been catching passes with his left hand wrapped up. It sure seems like the Cowboys expect him to suit up against the Colts, though it's possible he'll officially be a game-time decision. Murray comes with much more risk than usual for the fantasy finals, but owners in season-long leagues have to play him if he's active. Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar will form a committee if Murray can't go. More of a pass catcher than Randle, Dunbar's role figures to be bigger than usual even if Murray plays.

Seahawks signed WLB K.J. Wright to a four-year, $27 million contract extension through 2018.

The No. 99 overall pick of the 2011 draft, Wright was headed to the open market. Excellent in coverage and solid against the run, Wright has been an every-down player this season, racking up 96 tackles and two sacks. The Seahawks love his length at 6-foot-4, 250 pounds. Seattle has done an excellent job of locking up the core of its 2013 championship team. Wright is only 25.
Dec 18 - 3:12 PM

Cam Newton (back) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, and is "on target" to start Sunday's game against the Browns.

Barring a setback, coach Ron Rivera expects Newton to "probably" start over Derek Anderson. It's a huge boost for the Panthers as they try to stay alive in the NFC South. Newton had his best game of the season in Week 14 before his car accident, but will be a borderline QB1 if he suits up for the fantasy finals. His health is obviously a question mark, and the Browns sport a stouter defense than New Orleans.
