Chargers GM Tom Telesco confirmed that Ryan Mathews remains "our bell cow."

Telesco suggested that signing free agent Donald Brown to a $10.4 million contract was a depth move. Mathews will remain the feature back as he comes off a highly effective year that saw him set career-highs in games played (16), carries (285) and yards (1255). "He's our No. 1 back," Telesco said. Perhaps Brown was signed with one eye on 2015, when Mathews will be a free agent.

Jordan Cameron (shoulder) was "very limited" in Thursday's practice, and could go "either way" for Week 3.

The word comes from OC Kyle Shanahan. Public pessimism from the coaching staff is never a good sign. Cameron should be considered no better than 50-50 to suit up against the Ravens. If he does play, he'll be a mid-range TE1 at risk of re-injury.

Jamaal Charles (ankle) returned to Chiefs practice Thursday.

Per ESPN's Adam Teicher, Charles participated in warmups, spent a "brief period" being tended to by the team's trainer and then joined position drills. Charles was apparently even "cutting through cones." It would suggest Charles isn't dealing with a high-ankle sprain at all, and that the Chiefs have been misapplying the phrase. There's still more reason to believe Charles will sit than suit up this weekend, but we obviously don't have enough information right now. Charles owners should not count on him being active for Week 3, while Knile Davis owners simply need to sit tight.

Cardinals placed RB Jonathan Dwyer on the reserve/non-football illness list, ending his season.

According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals are "evaluating (Dwyer's) mental health after suicide mentions in police report." Although teams have the option to withhold pay from players on the NFI list, Dwyer will reportedly still collect checks. He's almost certainly played his final down for Arizona.
Sep 18 - 2:39 PM

Eric Decker (hamstring) was held out of Thursday's practice.

Coach Rex Ryan is "confident" Decker will be available for Monday's game against the Bears, but that could change if Decker doesn't progress over the next two days of practice. The current plan is for Decker to "test" his hamstring by Saturday. For now, Decker should be considered a high-risk WR3.
Sep 18 - 1:38 PM

A.J. Green (foot) returned to Bengals practice Thursday.

He'll likely be listed as "limited." It puts Green on track to play in Sunday's game against the Titans, but how he bounces back on Friday will be key. His status cannot be taken for granted. Even if Green does suit up, he'll be more of a low-end WR1 than his usual top-three self. There's a chance he'll draw much-fewer targets than usual as a decoy.
Sep 18 - 1:10 PM

Vikings OC Norv Turner said he will use both Matt Asiata and Jerick McKinnon in Sunday's game against the Saints.

Turner added that he might use one back more than the other if someone gets a hot hand. Asiata will have the first crack to get that hot hand as he'll almost certainly start the game, but we know this low-upside bulldozer with a career 3.56 YPC won't help the Adrian Peterson-less Vikings move the ball consistently. The freaky McKinnon could, but has to prove reliable and pass protect better (one sack allowed on three pass pro chances Week 2). Asiata remains the "safer" Week 3 fantasy flex play, but McKinnon is the better long-term hold.
Sep 18 - 12:36 PM

Marqise Lee (hamstring) will not play in Sunday's game against the Colts.

Lee has been battling this hamstring issue since originally tweaking it in the opener. Already in danger of losing his starting job, he'll now really be placed on the back burner and can be dropped in re-draft fantasy formats. Cecil Shorts (hamstring) and Allen Hurns (ankle) project as the Jags starters if they're active. Allen Robinson and Mike Brown would also have roles.
Sep 18 - 12:30 PM

According NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Doug Martin (knee) is unlikely to play in Thursday night's game against the Falcons.

Martin will test out his knee pregame before the Bucs make his status official. But it's now crystal clear that Bobby Rainey is a borderline RB1 play against a Falcons defense that has already given up 284 yards and five touchdowns to opponent tailbacks. Reports already had the hot Rainey, growing into a coaching staff favorite, in line to start the game. He also started against the Falcons in Week 11 of last year, going for 167 total yards on 32 touches and scoring three touchdowns.
Sep 18 - 12:11 PM

Coach Sean Payton said Khiry Robinson will be "ready for the workload" with Mark Ingram (hand) sidelined.

The Saints also showed confidence in Robinson late last season, giving him 21 carries in their two playoff games. Now he's staring a monster opportunity in the face as he'll pair with passing back Pierre Thomas for the next month. A powerful, elusive runner that's underrated in the pass game, Robinson is definitely on the flex radar for this week's home game against the shell-shocked Vikings. Ingram scored three goal-line touchdowns in the first two weeks, a role Robinson is expected to take over.

Coach Marvin Lewis said he expects A.J. Green (toe) to play in Sunday's game against the Titans.

Green was less optimistic than his head coach on Wednesday, saying he "doesn't know at this point" if he'll be able to suit up. Note that the Bengals have a bye in Week 4. "It's just getting the range of motion back on that big toe," said Green. "That's the biggest thing, because I'm always on that. I feel good. I still have some treatment to do, but it's getting better." The Pro Bowl wideout is expected to test the toe out during Thursday's practice. If he ends up as a game-time Sunday, we'll know his official status by noon ET.

Eric Decker did not even need an MRI on the hamstring he injured in the Week 2 loss at Green Bay.

It's pretty surprising considering this is an aggravation of the right hammy issue that bothered Decker during training camp. But no need for an MRI confirms that this is a very mild strain, one that he could very well play through on Monday night. We'll know more based on practice reports over the next three days.
