Coach Bruce Arians said DB Tyrann Mathieu (knee) is "several weeks" ahead of schedule in his rehab.

Mathieu tore his left ACL and LCL in Week 14. He shed the brace on his knee earlier this month but remains in question for camp. The Cardinals don't plan to push him until he's "more than ready." Mathieu is working hard at the team's facility, and they reportedly can't keep him away. Mathieu may not do much this summer, but he appears to have a solid chance of playing Week 1.

ESPN's Tania Ganguli reports Arian Foster's groin injury is "significant," and could require surgery.

Houston radio host Jayson Braddock reports Foster is a candidate for injured reserve/designated to return. That would keep Foster out until Week 10. Foster is no stranger to groin issues, missing two games with one in 2014. Foster remained one of the league's best backs last season, but soft-tissue injuries have begun to take their toll. He's having more and more trouble staying on the field. Alfred Blue was Foster's 2014 backup, but must hold off Jonathan Grimes, Chris Polk and Kenny Hilliard for the duties this season. It's a competition that will be settled on the field in the preseason.

Allen Hurns is running as a first-team wideout at training camp, ahead of Marqise Lee.

Lee's inconsistent play and consistent trips to the training room have him lagging behind. Meanwhile, Hurns has been "steady as usual" while running opposite breakout candidate Allen Robinson. Regardless of who wins out between Hurns and Lee, we're not expecting much statistical production as the No. 3 target on a team that figures to play slow and scuffle offensively.

Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell said he doubts suspended WR Justin Blackmon ever plays NFL football again.

"Realistically, when you're away from the game for two-and-a-half years, what you were once is not what you will probably be -- your skills do erode, especially when you're not in shape and not in top football shape," Caldwell said, adding that getting back into the league doesn't appear to be a priority for Blackmon. The Times-Union reports the only reason the Jags haven't cut Blackmon is because they're trying to recoup several million of the $7.11 million signing bonus he received as the No. 5 overall pick in 2012.

Charles Clay has yet to be targeted in the passing game through four Bills training camp practices.

Clay is making Gronk-Jimmy Graham money on his new five-year, $38 million deal, but has been concerningly uninvolved in the Bills' early-camp passing game. Clay did say he spends time before and after practice catching balls from Buffalo's motley quarterback crew. Clay's role in new OC Greg Roman's offense remains to be seen. We hope to gain clarity at some point in August.

ESPN Cleveland "keep(s) hearing" Terrance West is on "thin ice because of maturity issues."

West's poor practice habits and inconsistent ball security led him into the coaches' doghouse repeatedly as a rookie. Then the team went out and spent a third-round pick on Duke Johnson while also talking up Isaiah Crowell. ESPN Cleveland added that West looks "chunky" early on in training camp.

NJ.com says Rashad Jennings looks "big, strong, fast and quick" early on at training camp.

Jennings, fully recovered from last year's knee and ankle woes, is turning heads early in camp even though he's 30 years old. Remember this is a versatile player who Ben McAdoo gave 19.2 carries per game to in the first eight weeks of last season. He's a far better option than backup big back Andre Williams and is wildly undervalued at a seventh- or eighth-round ADP right now.

The Miami Herald calls rookie RB Jay Ajayi "a bit of a disappointment so far."

The physical Ajayi should look better once the serious hitting gets going at camp. It's also possible his head is simply swimming as he goes through his first real NFL practices. But for now, it sounds like the Dolphins are seeing why Ajayi was still available in the fifth round of the draft. Meanwhile, the coaching staff is talking up an increased workload for Lamar Miller. Ajayi needs to unseat Damien Williams just to win the No. 2 back job. Dolphins GM Mike Tannenbaum recently stated that if Ajayi "doesn't pass protect, he will never be active (on game days)."

DeVante Parker (foot surgery) is still roughly 3-4 weeks away from being able to practice.

This assumes Parker has no setbacks as he continues his rehab. So in a best-case scenario, the No. 14 overall pick will partake in his first NFL training camp practice roughly two weeks before Week 1. It's hard to see him making a big impact right out of the gate, leaving him as a bench stash in fantasy formats.

Sources tell ESPN's Ed Werder the Eagles are discussing a short-term contract extension with Sam Bradford.

It's a tricky time to do a new deal as Bradford hasn't been healthy since 2012 yet has massive upside in Chip Kelly's offense. If he stays upright this year, he'll have a great shot at (another) huge contract in the spring. Of course, the Eagles want to keep their starting quarterback under club control beyond this season -- when his $78 million rookie contract will finally expire. Per Werder, Bradford has "made a strong early impression" on the team.

Coach Bill O'Brien said "right now" Nate Washington is the No. 2 receiver opposite DeAndre Hopkins.

Rookie Jaelen Strong and Cecil Shorts are Washington's competition. While Hopkins will remain on the field at all times and gobble up targets, O'Brien figures to mix and match his Nos. 2 and 3 receivers with Washington operating as a deep threat and Shorts seeing action in the slot. Strong has the most long-range upside, but will have to outplay the veterans to earn a year-one role.

Coach Lovie Smith confirmed Doug Martin will be the Bucs' "lead" back this season.

"We talked about being able to establish the run," said Smith. "Doug will be the lead guy doing that, so it's very important that we open up some holes and let him do his thing." On a Bucs team with a 6.5-game Vegas Win Total, Martin is expected to be a two-down back only, ceding passing-down snaps to Charles Sims. Still, Martin has value-pick potential at his seventh-round ADP.
