The Ravens plan to keep Kelechi Osemele (back surgery) at left guard.

Osemele was a college left tackle and has played some right tackle in the pros, but the Ravens have internally determined his best position is guard. From left to right, here's how we project Baltimore's O-Line as it stands: LT Eugene Monroe, LG Osemele, C Jeremy Zuttah, RG Marshal Yanda, RT Rick Wagner. The Ravens would be smart to bring in competition for Wagner at right tackle.

Ravens RB Kenneth Dixon will be sidelined four weeks with a torn MCL, but does not need surgery.

It's good and bad news. The bad being it's going to be a while before Dixon pushes for a role on offense, the good that he isn't out longer and has avoided surgery. Dixon had a strong camp and preseason. He isn't worth stashing in 12-team leagues, but should begin the year on watch lists. Baltimore has a volatile backfield where the pecking order could change multiple times in September. The four-week timetable has Dixon returning somewhere around Week 4 or 5.

Carson Palmer completed 5-of-9 passes for 64 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions in Arizona's third preseason game.

Both of Palmer's INTs were tipped passes. The second was housed for a touchdown by LB John Simon. Palmer took a cheap shot from DT Devon Still in the process, and appeared to chip his tooth. The Cards then held him out for the rest of the game. Palmer finishes the summer with zero touchdowns and three picks. The last time he appeared in a game that counted, of course, was the NFC Championship Game, where he gave the ball to the other team six times. Palmer remains a QB1 with elite weapons, but durability and turnovers are mounting question marks.

Colin Kaepernick told reporters Sunday that he will "continue to sit" during pre-game National Anthems.

This assumes Kaepernick is on an NFL roster this season, and attending games at all. While it is certainly within his rights to sit when the National Anthem is played, it has caused a P.R. nightmare in San Francisco and will remain one for as long as Kaepernick is showing up on Sundays. Other teams likely now view him as toxic. It's no secret Kaepernick is disliked by teammates, even prior to the National Anthem thing. Combined with his poor play, Kaepernick's protestation could become a career-threatening decision.

Jets placed WR Devin Smith on the reserve/PUP list.

This clears a roster spot as the Jets begin their first round of cuts. The 37th overall pick in the 2015 draft, Smith tore his ACL in December last year and was always expected to go on reserve/PUP, costing him the first six games. Despite his high draft status, Smith is a fringe hold in Dynasty leagues.

Eagles released WR Chris Givens.

The Philadelphia Inquirer predicted this was coming last week. A 2012 fourth-round pick, Givens turned in a promising rookie campaign with the Rams (42-698-3), but his career has been in a tailspin ever since. It's an especially ominous sign for Givens that he couldn't crack one of the NFL's worst receiver corps.

The Dolphins are expected to start second-round CB Xavien Howard in Week 1 against the Seahawks.

Howard missed over three weeks of training camp following an offseason knee scope and hasn't played at all in preseason. He is expected to play in the exhibition finale. While Howard is supremely raw with next to no time in DC Vance Joseph's system, he can't possibly be worse than overmatched Tony Lippett. Russell Wilson, Doug Baldwin & Co. should still be licking their chops.

According to owner Jim Irsay, Colts LG Jack Mewhort's knee injury will only sideline him 2-4 weeks.

NFL Network reported late Saturday that Mewhort was "believed" to have torn his ACL. The Colts are catching a huge break here, as Mewhort is their best offensive lineman and the anchor between struggling LT Anthony Castonzo and rookie C Ryan Kelly. It appears Mewhort escaped with a knee sprain. The 2-4 week timetable still makes Mewhort doubtful for Week 1 against Detroit.

Teddy Bridgewater completed 12-of-16 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings' third preseason game.

He added a 22-yard scramble. Bridgewater was sharp despite missing recent practices due to arm fatigue, connecting with Stefon Diggs for 5-71 receiving on five targets and throwing a TD pass to Kyle Rudolph. The low-volume nature of Minnesota's passing offense is Teddy's biggest hurdle in the way of fantasy football impact. That could change if Adrian Peterson went down.

Chargers RB Branden Oliver was carted off the field in Sunday's preseason game with a torn right Achilles'.

We're not doctors, but you could practically see Oliver's Achilles' tendon pop in slow motion. The Chargers have since confirmed. Oliver will be done for the season. Oliver is a jack-of-all-trades backup behind Danny Woodhead and Melvin Gordon. It leaves the Bolts with little room for error if Woodhead gets hurt or Gordon doesn't take a step forward.

Colts signed RB Stevan Ridley.

It's an acknowledgment of how desperately little the Colts have behind 33-year-old starter Frank Gore. Ridley couldn't beat out Zach Zenner in Detroit, and was cut after taking the ball nine times for 27 yards (3.0 YPC) in two preseason games. We'd say he doesn't have good roster odds, but his "competition" is Bob Turbin, Jordan Todman and Josh Ferguson. There's a decent chance he'll crack Indy's dilapidated running back corps.

Chiefs re-signed SS Eric Berry to a one-year, $10.8 million contract.

Berry staged a lengthy holdout after failing to reach a long-term deal as the Chiefs' franchise player, but he is ready to get back to playing football. It may take Berry a few days to get up to speed, but he should be ready for the Chiefs' season opener in two weeks. The 27-year-old was a first-team All-Pro last season and also earned NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors.
