Danny Parkins of 610 Kansas City reports the Chiefs have reached out to the reps for free agent DeSean Jackson.

The dots connect, as Chiefs coach Andy Reid drafted and coached Jackson in Philadelphia, and Kansas City is in the market for a receiver upgrade opposite Dwayne Bowe. Still only 27 years old, Jackson was released by the Eagles on Friday after a story on NJ.com appeared alleging gang ties to the Crips. D-Jax would be a big upgrade on Donnie Avery, and replace Dexter McCluster on punt returns. McCluster signed a three-year deal with Tennessee.

Second-round WR Devin Smith suffered broken ribs in the first practice of Jets camp and may miss all of the preseason.

Smith has been hospitalized with the painful injury. It should be emphasized that Smith broke multiple ribs, not just one. The injury occurred while Smith was "making a leaping catch" in Friday's practice. The 37th overall pick in this year's draft, Smith was going to compete for third receiver duties with Jeremy Kerley behind Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. While we didn't have high hopes for Smith's re-draft league prospects this year, so much lost practice time in OC Chan Gailey's system may prevent Smith from making any meaningful early-season impact.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms the Cowboys' No. 1 running back job is "Joseph Randle's to lose."

Per RapSheet, the Cowboys expect "big things" from Randle, and love his "vision and explosiveness." After struggling mightily as a fifth-round rookie in 2013, Randle indeed showed improved burst as a sophomore, averaging nearly seven yards on 51 carries. Randle remains a high-risk fantasy investment based on his extremely-limited track record. His ADP is creeping toward round three.

Coach Jim Caldwell offered no timetable for Joique Bell's (knee, Achilles') return at Lions camp Friday.

Caldwell did say Bell is "coming along quickly," though that's hard to fathom after Joique missed the entire spring and wasn't available for the start of training camp. "We’re just majorly concerned right now with obviously getting him healthy," Caldwell insisted. "And he’s well on his way to that." Bell turns 29 next month and has undergone three lower-leg surgeries over the past two offseasons. Ameer Abdullah is now running with the ones.

Raiders placed RB Trent Richardson on the active/NFI list.

No explanation has been given yet, but we should get details soon. It seems likely Richardson failed to pass his conditioning test. The San Francisco Chronicle recently passed along "whispers" that the Raiders' flyer on T-Rich is "not going so well." Richardson appears to be squarely on the roster bubble.

Dorial Green-Beckham revealed he weighed 246 pounds at the end of offseason practices.

It's nine pounds heavier than his Combine listing, where Green-Beckham weighed in at 6'5/237. DGB missed the entire offseason due to a hamstring injury, which presumably contributed to his weight gain. He says he's down to 240 pounds now, and hopes to get to 230 by the end of camp. DGB is battling Harry Douglas, Hakeem Nicks, and Justin Hunter for snaps opposite Kendall Wright.

Coach Lovie Smith said Jameis Winston is the Bucs' starting quarterback.

This comes as no surprise whatsoever, but it's at least worth mentioning after Winston split first-team reps with Mike Glennon in the spring. Winston has been an angel off the field since being drafted No. 1 and picked up the offense in quick fashion on it. Strapped with Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson and Austin Seferian-Jenkins as his weapons, Winston has some appeal as a high-upside QB2.

Redskins signed OLB Junior Galette, formerly of the Saints, to a one-year, $745,000 contract.

Galette, 27, has been one of the league's top edge rushers the past two seasons, registering 22 sacks and a whopping 126 combined sacks, hits and hurries. The problem is he's a trainwreck off the field, having been accused of domestic violence in January before a video surfaced last month of him assaulting a man and woman in 2013. If he can avoid his knucklehead tendencies, Galette and OLB Ryan Kerrigan can be one of the top edge-rushing duos in the league. The Redskins' defense has sneaky streamer potential in 2015.

Matt Cassel received the first rep in team drills when the Bills opened training camp Friday.

Tyrod Taylor was second up, while E.J. Manuel and Matt Simms were Nos. 3 and 4. We wouldn't read much into this, as this figures to be a full-blown competition for much of the summer. Cassel received the bulk of the reps Friday, but didn't draw positive reviews from Bills beat writers. His spring struggles appear to have carried over. Taylor and Manuel will get plenty of work with the ones.

Isaiah Crowell received the first rep in team drills at Browns training camp Friday.

Terrance West received the first rep when the Browns opened camp Thursday. This is further confirmation that Cleveland will likely divvy up reps between Crowell, West and third-rounder Duke Johnson throughout camp until one separates from the pack. Crowell has the most talent as an inside runner but doesn't offer anything in the passing game and has experienced fumbling issues in the past. We still like Crowell at his eighth-round ADP.

NFL suspended Redskins CB Bashaud Breeland one game for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

The suspension stems from Breeland's August 2014 citation for possession of marijuana on the campus of VCU. Breeland is expected to compete to start opposite Chris Culliver this season after going through an up-and-down rookie campaign. It's possible DeAngelo Hall could start Week 1 against the Dolphins and hold the job with Breeland coming in for sub-package snaps.

Seahawks signed QB Russell Wilson to a four-year, $87.6 million contract extension that includes $60 million guaranteed.

Wilson gets a $31 million signing bonus and is signed through 2019, his age-31 season. The deal is short compared to other quarterback contracts, but gives Wilson another potential bite at the free-agency apple when he's still theoretically in his prime as a quarterback. Wilson's $21.9 million annually in new money makes him the second-highest paid quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers ($22 million). There were whispers Wilson was aiming for a fully-guaranteed contract. He settled for 68.5 percent of it guaranteed, which is still better than any other quarterback. The Seahawks will now turn their attention to MLB Bobby Wagner.
