Cardinals signed ILB Larry Foote to a one-year contract.

Foote is 33 and coming off a biceps tear, but can at least provide some depth and play on special teams. The Cardinals need help at inside linebacker with Daryl Washington facing another suspension, Karlos Dansby fleeing to the Browns, and Lorenzo Alexander coming off a Lisfranc injury. A two-down run stopper, Foote will likely end up competing primarily with Kevin Minter for snaps.

NFL suspended Colts ILB D'Qwell Jackson four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

No word yet on whether Jackson is claiming it was Adderall. The suspension runs through the end of the season. Jackson has not been performing at a high level, but it's a big blow all the same. Jackson is an every-down player for a team with zero depth to speak of. The Colts will have to mix and match as they try to eke out a playoff berth in the soft AFC South. Jackson would be eligible to return for the postseason if the Colts qualify.

Jets waived RB C.J. Spiller and WR Jeremy Ross.

Spiller was briefly on the field for last night's humiliation, but ended up playing only 32 snaps in a little more than a month as a Jet. Now 29, the 2010 first-rounder has been released by three teams this season. His NFL future is looking bleak. It's a shame for a formerly-dynamic playmaker who could never quite get over the hump.

Colin Kaepernick will be the 49ers' Week 14 starter at quarterback.

The 49ers benched Kaepernick in the midst of a ludicrously bad Week 13 performance in the snow, but are wisely giving him another shot against the Jets. Kap's play had been on an upward trajectory before last week's catastrophic setback, and though it can sound like damning with faint praise, Kap has been a clear improvement on Blaine Gabbert. Regardless, the fantasy calculus has changed. Kap should now be considered at risk of in-game benchings, rendering him a risk/reward QB2 instead of the low-end QB1 he had been performing as.

Panthers MLB Luke Kuechly (concussion) will be evaluated Wednesday to see if he can resume practicing.

He's missed the Panthers' last two games with a concussion. With Carolina headed nowhere this year, there's no need to rush Kuechly back, especially given his history of concussions. A.J. Klein has been filling in for Kuechly at middle linebacker.

Jeremy Maclin (groin) will be a full participant at Tuesday's practice.

It puts Maclin on track to suit up Thursday night against Oakland. He'll be returning from a four-game absence. With Travis Kelce emerging as Alex Smith's go-to target and rookie Tyreek Hill also showing promise, Maclin won't be more than a WR4 this week and going forward.

According to ESPN's Ed Werder, Jason Pierre-Paul's preliminary diagnosis did not reveal a sports hernia.

Pierre-Paul is set to visit Dr. William Meyers Tuesday in Philadelphia. Meyers' expertise is sports hernia surgery, so it was natural to assume Pierre-Paul had suffered a hernia himself. Though the initial diagnosis didn't show that, Pierre-Paul will get official word from Meyers on Tuesday. Even if Pierre-Paul doesn't go under the knife, he's still expected to miss "a few weeks," according to beat writer Ralph Vacchiano of SNY.com.

Jason Pierre-Paul (groin) is traveling to Philadelphia Tuesday to visit Dr. William Meyers.

It's obviously not a good sign for his availability this week or going forward. Dr. Meyers specializes in sports hernia surgery. Maybe Meyers will give Pierre-Paul some good news, but we're not counting on it. JPP injured his groin late in the first half of Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh and did not return.

ESPN's Bob Holtzman reports Jeremy Maclin (groin) "should play" Thursday night against the Raiders.

Holtzman added the caveat of "if all goes well" in practice this week. Maclin has been out since Week 9 with a groin injury. Even if he returns Thursday night, there is a decent chance he will be limited. Even in a good matchup, Maclin is nothing more than a WR4.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said he wants Rob Kelley to be "more involved" moving forward.

Despite running well against a tough Cardinals defense, Kelley only saw 14 carries in what was a close game throughout. "We ideally would like to get that running game going a little bit more," Gruden said, "more touches for Robert because he’s been very good as far as running the football." Kelley will always be at risk of falling out of the game plan because of his struggles as a pass catcher, but Washington needs to do a better job of feeding him when the game is close. He should see plenty of work this week against the Eagles.

Jerry Jones said the Cowboys do not plan to rest their starters even if they clinch the No. 1 seed.

With a first-round bye all but secure and home-field advantage likely to be locked up in the next couple weeks, the Cowboys will have a tough decision to make in Week 17. Jones says it will be "business as usual," which could be the right call with a bye week on the way, but it would still be surprising if Ezekiel Elliott saw his full workload once everything is locked up. It is still possible he sits out entirely in the final week. Because of the uncertainty, Alfred Morris is a must-add for Elliott owners.

Jets coach Todd Bowles said he always planned to start Bryce Petty over the final month of the season.

"We could have won 45-0, (Bryce) was going to start the last four games," Bowles said after Monday night's blowout loss. "That's the slot we had penciled for him, that's a good time to take a look at him." It is unclear why Petty would be good enough for the final four games and not the final six, but at least the correct decision has finally been made. Even though it is pretty clear Petty is not the long-term answer, the Jets at least need to see it on the field before this offseason.
