NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Falcons are working out free agent ILB Jonathan Vilma on Wednesday.

It's not the first we've heard of a possible Vilma-Falcons marriage following Atlanta's loss of ILB Sean Weatherspoon to a ruptured Achilles' earlier this month. Vilma spent all but one week on injured reserve last season due to a knee injury and turned 32 in April. GM Thomas Dimitroff is simply looking for bodies. Paul Worrilow, Joplo Bartu, and Prince Shembo currently sit atop the depth chart for the Falcons at inside linebacker. Vilma would come cheap.

Chad Henne will start the Jaguars' third preseason game.

This has been the direction the Jaguars were trending since Blake Bortles' terrible showing in the second preseason game. Jacksonville is in win-now mode under EVP Tom Coughlin and view Henne as a game-managing upgrade on Bortles. Bortles is expected to get some work with the starters, but the Week 1 job looks like Henne's to lose.

Raiders LT Donald Penn has ended his holdout.

This was an expected move. Penn missed the first 26 days of training camp over a dispute with his 2017 salary. He didn't get a raise, but talks could open up now that he's back. Penn has a chance to play in the Raiders' third preseason game.

ESPN's Pat McManamon reports the Browns have renewed efforts to trade Brock Osweiler.

DeShone Kizer is on track to start Week 1 barring an implosion in the third week of the preseason, while Osweiler is not going to play this week. Osweiler's inactivity suggests the Browns are trying to keep him healthy in order to deal him. Osweiler essentially took a shot at Browns team hierarchy, replying "I think that's a great question for our general manager" when asked what would need to happen for him to win the starting job, suggesting it would be the GM's call and not coach Hue Jackson's. "I don't know where that came from," Jackson answered when asked about Osweiler's comment.

Rookie RB James Conner is listed behind Fitzgerald Toussaint on the Steelers' latest depth chart.

With Le'Veon Bell holding out, Toussaint started the Steelers' second preseason game and is listed as the interim starter. Conner is listed on the twos along with Knile Davis. Although Conner totaled 101 yards from scrimmage in his preseason debut last Sunday, he struggled with drive-killing drops and left a ton of yards on the field. He has yet to earn the handcuff role behind Le'Veon.

Jordan Reed (toe) practiced for the first time this summer on Wednesday.

Reed was activated from PUP over the weekend, and this was the Redskins' first practice since their second preseason game. As long as everything goes well for Reed, we could see him get a few snaps over the next two preseason contests. Washington's offense runs through Reed. He's an elite TE1.

Jordan Matthews (chest) returned to individual drills on Wednesday.

Matthews has been out a little over a week after suffering a "chip fracture" in his sternum in his first practice with the team. He probably won't play in the third preseason game, but this puts Matthews well on track for Week 1.

Bears signed LT Charles Leno to a four-year, $38 million extension through 2021.

A 2014 seventh-round pick, Leno has started 29-of-32 games the past two seasons. He was Pro Football Focus' No. 53 tackle out of 76 qualifiers last season after checking in at 49th-of-76 the previous year. The Bears see upside in the soon-to-be 26-year-old and are returning all five starters up front. At $9.5 million per year, Leno is the league's 14th-highest-paid left tackle.

The Florida Times Union's Ryan O'Halloran "guesses" the Jaguars are shopping Allen Hurns on the trade block.

Hurns has yet to play this preseason despite being relatively healthy. He missed a bunch of action last season due to a severe hamstring strain. GM Dave Caldwell just signed Hurns to a "five-year, $40.6 million" deal last June, but he appears to already be falling out of favor with guys like Marqise Lee playing well last season and rookie Dede Westbrook impressing this summer. Hurns likely wouldn't fetch much in the trade department coming off a really down 2016.

Danny Woodhead has been sidelined at practice this week with a hamstring injury.

Beat writer Jeff Zrebiec wonders whether we'll see Woodhead the remainder of the preseason and at least questions his availability for Week 1. Woodhead has been very quiet through two weeks of the preseason, playing just seven snaps last week, rushing once for two yards and failing to catch either of his two targets from an erratic Ryan Mallett. Woodhead's stock should be more than fine as long as he's healthy and once Joe Flacco (back) gets back under center.

The Tampa Bay Times' Greg Auman expects Charles Sims to operate as the Bucs' passing-game and third-down back this season.

Sims thrived in that role in 2015, finishing as the overall RB17 in PPR formats. Last season, however, Sims appeared in just seven games after a lengthy stint on I.R. with a knee injury. He never looked quite right. While all the attention in the Bucs' backfield has been on Doug Martin and Jacquizz Rodgers for fantasy purposes, Sims also looks to be in line for a contributing role.

Rob Gronkowski has adopted "parts of Tom Brady's diet" while also cutting out alcohol and coffee.

It's unclear what the diet consists of, but Brady has been known as one of the bigger-name NFL players to go heavily vegan. The more notable thing for Gronk is cutting out the beer -- just during the season -- as he's long been the league's lovable party animal. On top of the dietary changes, Gronkowski played in his first preseason game last week since 2012. Now 28, he knew he had to make some changes to prolong his career and stay healthy in the present. If healthy, Gronkowski is a favorite to lead the league in touchdowns.
