NFL suspended Dolphins DE Dion Jordan four games for violating the league's performance-enhancing substance policy.

The No. 3 pick in the 2013 draft, Jordan struggled his first year in the league, recording only two sacks in 339 defensive snaps. Jordan put on almost 20 pounds this offseason, and the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero observed it "looked as if he took an air pump and plugged it into his arms and shoulders." Jordan was rumored to be on the trade block in early spring. On college tape, Jordan resembled a cross between Julian Peterson and Jason Taylor. Just over one year later, and he has many symptoms of a huge draft bust.

Packers declared OLB Clay Matthews, CB Sam Shields, S Morgan Burnett, DE Datone Jones, NT Letroy Guion, QB Joe Callahan, and OT Kyle Murphy inactive for Week 3 against the Lions.

The Packers will be without four starters and an important rotational pass rusher on defense against the Lions. With Detroit also missing DE Ziggy Ansah and WLB DeAndre Levy, this game has shootout potential.

Sammy Watkins (foot) is inactive for Week 3 against the Cardinals.

Giants declared Rashad Jennings (thumb) inactive for Week 3 vs. the Redskins.

Delanie Walker (hamstring) is inactive for Week 3 against the Raiders.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) is "definitely making progress" and there is hope he can be ready for Week 4.

Schefter reported earlier this week Garoppolo had "a chance" to be active, so this sounds like better news. Schefter also said the Patriots do not believe Jacoby Brissett's thumb injury is serious. It is starting to look like New England could have both quarterbacks next week against the Bills.

Orleans Darkwa is expected to share carries with Shane Vereen in the absence of Rashad Jennings (thumb) against the Redskins.

Beat writer Jordan Raanan still expects Vereen to be New York's Week 3 lead back, but Darkwa is a sneaky bet for goal-line work and should also handle 9-13 carries off the bench. Raanan leaves the door open for "maybe a slight infusion of Bobby Rainey and Paul Perkins." Vereen is a strong RB2 play in PPR leagues. Darkwa is worth a look if you're desperate for a flex play.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora confirms Andrew Luck (shoulder) "is starting" Sunday against San Diego.

Luck's practice reps were limited during the week and he was listed as questionable, but there was never any concern about his availability among beat reporters. Some parts of the DFS community got worried when the Colts-Chargers game was pulled off the board at a few Vegas sportsbooks on Wednesday, but it is up at every meaningful sportsbook at the moment. There is some concern about Luck's sore shoulder, but he will be starting Sunday versus San Diego.

On ESPN NFL Insiders, Adam Schefter said the Lions "think" Ameer Abdullah (injured reserve) is done for the year with a torn ligament in his foot.

This directly conflicts with a Sunday morning report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who said Abdullah was expected back "shortly after" the team's Week 10 bye. It is possible the Lions do not know either way at this point. Theo Riddick and Dwayne Washington will handle the bulk of the backfield work for the foreseeable future.

ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini believes Brandon Marshall (knee, foot) could be used situationally Week 3 against the Chiefs.

Adam Schefter reported earlier Sunday Marshall would be on a snap count, so it would make sense to use him primarily on third downs and in the red zone. Cimini also floats the idea Marshall could be a decoy to occupy Marcus Peters. Even with Marshall active, Eric Decker and Quincy Enunwa should see a bump in targets.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Packers CB Sam Shields (concussion) is expected to be cleared in "a few more weeks."

This is at least Shields' fifth concussion since entering the league, and there were some reports he was considering retiring. Schefter reports Shields received a "good report" from a concussion specialist this week, however, and will eventually return. The Packers are on bye next week, so Shields could be targeting Week 5.

Shane Vereen is expected to start with Rashad Jennings (thumb) sidelined for Week 3 against the Redskins.

Vereen has rarely been used in a feature role throughout his career, mostly settling for passing-down work and change-of-pace duties. However, Vereen is one of only three Giants backs to receive carries this year (the others are Jennings and Orleans Darkwa) and should be close to an every-down player on Sunday. Vereen turned 17 touches into 66 yards with Jennings banged up last week and will be a strong RB2 play in PPR formats against Washington.
