Both Matt Cassel and Vikings OC Norv Turner are praising Cordarrelle Patterson's route-running improvement.

Route limitations forced ex-OC Bill Musgrave to utilize Patterson as a gadget player on offense last year. Cassel cited Patterson's "route-running and his ability to recognize defense" as areas where he's made the most progress. "I think from Day 1 to now he's improved as a route runner," added Turner. "He's been very serious about working as a route runner." Patterson's breakout potential is unfortunately already built into his early fifth-round ADP. He'll be a boom-or-bust fantasy pick.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Dak Prescott is not limited by his ankle injury.

Garrett said the quarterback picked up the injury during the Week 2 loss to the Broncos, but it never seemed to be a serious issue. Prescott should be good to go for Monday night's matchup with the Cardinals.

Evan Engram (concussion) is practicing Thursday.

It is unclear if Engram has been removed from the protocol, but he has now practiced two days in a row. He should be ready to face the Eagles on Sunday.
Sep 21 - 12:01 PM

Giants CB Janoris Jenkins (ankle) did not practice Thursday.

After sitting out Monday night against the Lions, Jenkins has now missed the first two practices of the week. It is possible he gets back on the field Friday and is able to suit up against the Eagles, but he is looking doubtful for Week 3. Jenkins sitting would be a big upgrade for Alshon Jeffery.
Sep 21 - 11:59 AM

Odell Beckham (ankle) is practicing Thursday.

Beckham was limited Wednesday and likely will be again today, but there is little doubt he will be ready to go on Sunday. Likely to play a bigger role this week, Beckham is a locked-in WR1.
Sep 21 - 11:56 AM

Packers OLB Nick Perry will undergo surgery on his injured hand.

The injury is only expected to sideline him a couple weeks, but it is another injury blow for a Packers defense which also could be without Mike Daniels (hip) this week. Ahmad Brooks should see more snaps with Perry out.
Sep 21 - 11:46 AM

Tyler Eifert (knee, back) did not practice Thursday.

After also missing Wednesday's session, it seems unlikely Eifert is ready to go this week. Luckily, there are several streaming options available at tight end including Jared Cook and Ben Watson.

Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel expects the Packers to lighten Ty Montgomery's workload going forward.

The Packers were careful to monitor Julius Peppers' reps when he was with the team last year and Cohen believes the coaching staff is "surely having similar conversations" about Montgomery's usage. Montgomery has played more snaps than any running back in the league so far, a fact that has not gone unnoticed by coach Mike McCarthy. "By no means have we come out and established the rhythm and moved in and out of different personnel groups that we may have liked to in Weeks 1 and 2," he said. "So, I’m definitely aware of it and that’s what game plans are for." Even if the Packers do scale back Montgomery's workload some, he should remain a borderline RB1 in most formats.

Jordy Nelson (quad) expects to play in Sunday's game against the Bengals.

Nelson's status was looking questionable after sitting out the entire second half last week, but he's on track to play after practicing in full. He should be active barring a setback, though expectations should be downgraded at less than 100 percent. The Packers are trending up with Nelson and RT Bryan Bulaga looking likely to return. Randall Cobb (chest) didn't practice Wednesday and is more up in the air for Week 3.

Jordan Howard (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

It's actually a good sign after Howard was spotted with his arm in a sling following Sunday's loss to the Bucs. It puts Howard on track to suit up this weekend, though his workload and effectiveness will be up in the air against the Steelers' stout defense. Even in standard leagues, Tarik Cohen is the fantasy play for Week 3.

Eagles LG Chance Warmack is expected to start Week 3 against the Giants.

With Isaac Seumalo struggling, Warmack is taking first-team practice reps this week. Warmack opened the season as a healthy scratch, but the Eagles are clearly still high on him after giving him a one-year extension earlier this month. Philly is hoping Warmack can upgrade a run game that's been an afterthought through two games. Warmack missed 14 games to injury in 2016, but has started every game of his career.

Jets coach Todd Bowles said it's too early to tell if TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins will be active this week.

Seferian-Jenkins is eligible to return from suspension, but is reportedly out of shape after his two-week layoff. With Jordan Leggett and Eric Tomlinson dealing with injuries, the Jets may be forced to play him despite his conditioning. Seferian-Jenkins looks likely to be on a snap count if active. He should be avoided as a Week 3 streamer.
