NFL suspended Jaguars WR Ace Sanders four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Sanders won't appeal the suspension, but expects to miss the majority of training camp as he tends to "personal issues." Without coming out and saying it, Sanders made multiple allusions to substance-abuse issues. "I’ve decided to go seek that help and get that attention," he said. "Counseling, anybody that can give me insight." Already no higher than No. 4 on the depth chart, Sanders has greatly jeopardized his role in the Jaguars' offense. Coming off an uninspiring rookie campaign, Sanders may not have a role when he returns.

Jordan Howard (shoulder) remained "limited" in Thursday's practice.

The Bears haven't spoken much on Howard's status, but the back-to-back limited sessions suggest he will suit up against the Steelers. At less than 100 percent with Tarik Cohen monopolizing passing-game work, Howard will be an RB3 if he manages to play against the Steelers' tough defense.

Patriots RCB Malcolm Butler is unsure if he will start in Week 3.

Butler came off the bench in Week 2, but ended up playing 49-of-65 snaps. Coach Bill Belichick has made it clear he hasn't been happy with Butler's play. He had a rough Week 1 in the Chiefs' beatdown of the Pats, but was better against the Saints. Eagles castoff Eric Rowe is the Pats' No. 3 corner.

J.J. Nelson was limited with a hamstring injury in Thursday's practice.

It's a new injury for Nelson, though the "limited" practice suggests it's not serious. He has an extra day to get healthy with the Cardinals playing on Monday Night Football. Any sort of hamstring issue is still not something you want to see for a burner such as Nelson. His status will be updated on Friday.

A study of deceased ex-Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez's brain revealed a case of Stage 3 CTE.

Stage 3 CTE is associated with "cognitive impairment and trouble with executive functions like planning and organizing." Hernandez was one of the youngest ex-players to be diagnosed with the brain disorder, which is the result of repeated head trauma. Serving a life sentence for murder, Hernandez committed suicide in April.
Sep 21 - 4:39 PM

Sam Bradford (knee) was officially "limited" in Thursday's practice.

It would appear Bradford is on track to return against the Bucs. If he does indeed suit up, he will be a mid-range QB2 at less than 100 percent against a feisty defense.
Sep 21 - 4:20 PM

Rob Gronkowski (groin) was officially "limited" in Thursday's practice.

It puts Gronk on track to play against the Texans. He will likely remain limited on Friday. Perhaps the Patriots will create the impression he's a game-time decision, but Pats/Texans kick off at 1ET. Fantasy owners will have clarity when setting their lineups.
Sep 21 - 4:17 PM

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians expects Chris Johnson's carries to increase in Week 3.

Making his 2017 debut, Johnson had 11 carries in Week 2, soundly out-playing Kerwynn Williams. Arians appears ready to give Johnson a chance to run with starting duties during David Johnson's absence. Fantasy players shouldn't expect more than an RB3 day, but Johnson is worth scooping up in leagues where he remains unowned (admittedly, probably not many).
Sep 21 - 4:11 PM

Jay Ajayi (knee) was officially "DNP" on Thursday.

Coach Adam Gase has essentially already guaranteed Ajayi will play, but it would be nice to see him return to a "limited" session on Friday. Headed for a gorgeous matchup with the Jets, Ajayi will be an elite RB1 if he suits up.
Sep 21 - 3:55 PM

DeVante Parker (ankle) was held out of Thursday's practice.

It's a downgrade from Wednesday, when Parker was "limited." Coach Adam Gase hasn't expressed much concern about Parker's status, but mid-week downgrades are never good news. It could mean Parker's ankle didn't respond well to Wednesday's practice. Parker's Friday status will be key. Fantasy owners should consider Parker genuinely questionable, and begin plotting a back-up plan.
Sep 21 - 3:54 PM

DeMarco Murray (hamstring) remained sidelined at Thursday's practice.

Murray was "inside on the treadmill." Two missed practices for a workhorse 29-year-old back do not guarantee he will sit — Murray is the kind of player who can suit up without practicing — but things certainly aren't looking good. Even if Murray does play, Derrick Henry seems likely to take the lead against the Seahawks.
Sep 21 - 3:44 PM

Speaking Thursday, Kenny Britt said he had a "man-to-man" conversation with coach Hue Jackson about "stepping up."

Britt said Jackson has asked him to bring more energy "on- and off-the-field." Jackson acknowledged challenging the 29-year-old wideout, who has displayed embarrassing effort through his first two games as a Brown. Loafing, Britt has totaled two catches for 15 yards. He's seemed content to let Rashard Higgins, who was on the practice squad as recently as last week, take over as the Browns' No. 1 receiver. Britt has already reached now-or-never time with his new club.
