Second-round pick Jeremy Hill has continued to run ahead of BenJarvus Green-Ellis in Bengals camp.

Hill was inserted as the power complement to Gio Bernard at OTAs and hasn't looked back. Per ESPN Bengals reporter Coley Harvey, Green-Ellis "doesn't appear poised to emerge from their shadows any time soon" as he runs with the second- and third-stringers. The Law Firm is now thought to be competing with Rex Burkhead for one roster spot. Even if he sticks, it's clear Hill is the bigger, younger, better option. The LSU rookie is a great value at his current ninth-round ADP, as 200 carries and 7-10 touchdowns are well within reach.

Ravens WR Kamar Aiken "consistently" practiced with the first-team offense at spring workouts, ahead of Breshad Perriman.

The Ravens aren't handing a starting job to first-round pick Perriman, who "needs to become more consistent" after showing a propensity for dropped passes in OTAs and minicamp. Perriman also struggled with drops at UCF. Unlike the Panthers last year with Kelvin Benjamin, the Ravens seem hesitant to throw Perriman into the fire. This is a camp battle to watch throughout August.

The Rams' official website expects Tre Mason to "still play a significant role" in 2015, and believes it's "more probable" Mason starts Week 1 than Todd Gurley.

Writer Myles Simmons believes Gurley will be brought along slowly, and reminds that coach Jeff Fisher "almost always likes to be conservative with rookies." This is true, but the fact that Gurley is avoiding the PUP list to begin camp — and therefore the season — suggests an early-season return, and a big role along with it. Even if he makes a few early-season starts, Mason is best regarded as an RB3/handcuff.

Chiefs NT Dontari Poe (back surgery) could return "early" in the season.

The K.C. Star's Terez Paylor initially tweeted Poe had a "reasonable chance" to return at the "end of the season," but has corrected his error. It's definitely good news, but the Chiefs' own website has already reported Poe will sit out all of camp. There's a good chance he could begin the year on the reserve/PUP list, costing him six games. Jaye Howard will fill in for however long Poe is sidelined.

According to Bengals.com, the team was "hoping to see more" from Denarius Moore this offseason.

Moore's roster odds have improved with James Wright (knee) headed to injured reserve, but he was apparently unimpressive in OTAs and minicamp. It's troubling news for a wideout who has never lacked for physical skills. If Moore can't revive his career under OC Hue Jackson, who coached him to his best season in 2011, it's probably never going to happen.

Bloomberg's Scott Soshnick reports the NFL has asked the U.S. District Court in Manhattan to "confirm" Tom Brady's four-game suspension.

In other words, they're suing Brady before he can sue them. Brady's 2014-15 decision to slightly under-inflate his footballs has resulted in an all-out war with the league. The SportsBusiness Journal's Daniel Kaplan speculates the league's suit is designed to get the matter out of judge David Doty's jurisdiction in Minnesota. Doty has often been a thorn in the NFL's side. Brady's case is looking a bit shaky amidst the revelation he intentionally destroyed his phone on the day of his meeting with investigator Ted Wells.

The NFL has reduced Le'Veon Bell's suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy from three games to two.

That sound you hear is Bell racing back atop draft boards. Including the Steelers' bye, Bell is still ticketed to miss 23 percent of the fantasy regular season, but he's a dual-threat difference maker who provides a weekly edge in all formats of fantasy. That's especially true in PPR leagues, where Bell is a no-brainer at No. 1 overall. Bell is the goal-line back and primary checkdown target for an offense that wants to score 30 points per game this season. DeAngelo Williams will start in Weeks 1 and 2, where Pittsburgh is facing New England and San Francisco.

The league has upheld Tom Brady's four-game suspension.

After a summer of waffling, commissioner Roger Goodell decided to hold firm on Brady's shockingly-severe punishment. It means the matter is now headed to federal court, where Brady will sue the league. Brady will reportedly "seek an injunction that will allow him to play while his case works its way through the courts." Buried in the league's statement was confirmation that Brady destroyed his cellphone, apparently on the same day he met with investigator Ted Wells. Reading the reports, "Deflategate" sometimes comes across as a matter of national security instead of the silly sports controversy that it is. As it stands, Jimmy Garoppolo will start against the Steelers, Bills, Jaguars and Cowboys.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports the Cowboys have "no interest" in free agent Ray Rice.

The Cowboys have been speculatively connected to Rice and Chris Johnson, but ESPN's Todd Archer previously tweeted those links are being made by "everybody but the Cowboys." Per the Star-Telegram's Charean Williams, the Cowboys "haven't ruled out signing a vet back, but not for at least a couple weeks." They want to see how Joe Randle, Darren McFadden, and Lance Dunbar look early in camp.

Updating an earlier item, Rams RB Todd Gurley (ACL) will begin training camp on the active roster.

It means Gurley is ineligible for the reserve/NFI list, which would have cost him the first six games of the season. It's a major surprise after the Rams insisted all offseason they would take things slow with the No. 10 overall pick. It still doesn't guarantee Gurley will be ready for Week 1, but he's trending in that direction. Gurley's Week 1 status will be confirmed if he suits up for preseason action. Expect Gurley's ADP of RB20 to climb.

Dolphins coach Joe Philbin says the team is open to giving Lamar Miller more carries in 2015.

Miller notoriously failed to hit 20 carries in any game last year, despite averaging an explosive 5.09 yards per tote in one of the NFL's most efficient rushing offenses. Miller did handle 19 carries in each of Miami's final two games, however, and Philbin left the door open for Miller to be treated more like a workhorse this year. "I would tell you I’ve never been in a meeting where I’ve said to [OC] Bill [Lazor] or [RBs coach] Jeff Nixon or the offensive line coaches (that) ‘Lamar can’t carry the ball 20 times a game. He can’t do it,’" Philbin insisted. "I’ve never heard that. That’s never come out of my mouth. ... I would tell you, if he’s cranking and he got it 24 times a game and he’s healthy and he’s fast and he’s explosive, it doesn’t bother me one bit." If Philbin stays true to his word, Miller will offer high-end RB1 upside after finishing 2014 as fantasy's No. 9 overall back.

Free agent LT Jake Long is working out for the Falcons Tuesday.

Long, recovering from his second ACL tear at 30 years old, has been on the street since the Rams cut him in March. The former No. 1 overall pick would be a low-risk addition for a Falcons team that desperately needs to protect Matt Ryan better. Left tackle Jake Matthews struggled badly as a rookie and potential right tackle Tyler Polumbus is not the answer. The Falcons are putting Long and his balky knees through a physical Tuesday.
