ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Ezekiel Elliott is "ready for a long battle" regarding his six-game suspension.

Elliott already released a statement saying he will appeal, but Schefter reports that "might just be [the] first step in an ongoing ordeal," suggesting Zeke is willing to go to court to fight the ban. Elliott is worth an early-round fantasy pick even with the suspension looming, but it remains possible he either serves a lesser ban this year or is able to postpone the suspension the entire season. Like Le'Veon Bell last year, Elliott will likely end up a value when it is all said and done.

Rex Burkhead rushed seven times for 20 yards and caught 3-of-3 targets for 50 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots' second preseason game.

Burkhead's 22-yard touchdown came on a bullet from Tom Brady over the middle, and he evaded Texans ILB Zach Cunningham to the house. Burkhead operated as the Patriots' feature back on Saturday night, gobbling up all of the first- and second-down snaps with the Tom Brady group. James White did enter on third downs, but Burkhead was highly active in the passing game. With Mike Gillislee (hamstring) still on the shelf, Burkhead is a legitimate contender for New England's Week 1 starting running back job.

Christian Hackenberg started Saturday's preseason game against the Lions, completing 2-of-6 passes for 14 yards.

Named a "surprise" starter by coach Todd Bowles, Hackenberg played jaw-droppingly bad football worthy of sympathy. He took two thundering sacks and let a ball slip out of his hand, "generating" -3 yards of passing offense. His "completions" were a pair of checkdowns to Bilal Powell. It's true that Hackenberg received zero help from his offensive line or "weapons," but once again, he looked completely lost on the preseason field. The Jets hid Hackenberg, a second-round pick last season, because he wasn't ready. The year in mothballs did nothing to make him better, or counter his awful college film. The Jets have an albatross of a pick on their hands.

Martellus Bennett caught a three-yard touchdown in the Packers' second preseason game.

Like the rest of the first-team offense, Bennett played limited snaps, but he made his final one count by going up over a defender to pull down a fade from three yards out. Bennett scored on four of his five targets inside the 10 last season with the Patriots, and he could see even more work near the goal line in Green Bay. That touchdown upside makes him a TE1.

Tom Savage completed 8-of-9 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown in the Texans' second preseason game.

Facing a vanilla, no-blitz Patriots defense, Savage picked it apart with Bruce Ellington -- the duo hooked up three times for 60 yards -- and Jaelen Strong, who scored a two-yard touchdown. Savage played less than a quarter and continues to hold a lead on rookie Deshaun Watson in this position battle.
Aug 19 - 8:41 PM

Jamaal Williams rushed five times for 15 yards in the Packers' second preseason game.

It was not a flashy performance, but Williams got the start with Ty Montgomery (leg) sidelined and worked exclusively with the Aaron Rodgers group. At worst second on the depth chart, Williams should get work even if Montgomery is healthy, and that is far from a given. He is a great pick in the ninth round.

Kareem Hunt rushed eight times for 40 yards in Saturday's preseason game, adding three receptions for 23 additional yards.

Spence Ware "started," but played literally one snap. Hunt was in for snap two and handled the ball seven times for 36 yards on the Chiefs' opening drive. He had an eighth touch called back by holding. The next series, Hunt busted off a 25-yard run after making a nice cutback and throwing a stiff arm. He even made a nice play in pass protection. Hunt was done early in the second quarter. He was spotted on the sideline getting his right ankle taped up, but it didn't appear serious. The Chiefs' in-house announcers were talking about coach Andy Reid wanting to see what Hunt could do with the starters. The answer was carry the offense, at least for one preseason quarter. Hunt is making a legit bid for starting duties.
Aug 19 - 8:29 PM

Jaylon Smith finished with one tackle on 12 snaps in Saturday’s preseason game.

Smith started at MLB with Sean Lee inactive for the game. It was Smith’s first time on a football field since New Year’s Day 2016 when he suffered a knee injury in his final collegiate game. Smith’s lone tackle came on a third down completion short of the sticks to prevent a first down. On a Dallas defense that is lacking playmakers, Smith’s presence is a welcome sight.
Aug 19 - 8:22 PM

Aaron Rodgers completed 6-of-8 passes for 37 yards and a touchdown in the Packers' second preseason game.

Rodgers also picked up a third down with a 13-yard run, and he drew a 12-man penalty on a different third down by quick snapping. He capped his only drive of the night by hitting Martellus Bennett on a fade route from three yards out, something fans should probably get used to seeing. In short, Rodgers is still good at football, and he is the best fantasy option at the position.
Aug 19 - 8:14 PM

Dak Prescott completed 7-of-8 passes for 106 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys’ third preseason game.

It was Prescott’s first action of the preseason. Six of his seven completions went for first downs as he led the Cowboys on a 95-yard scoring drive to open the game that ended with him hitting Dez Bryant on a 32-yard touchdown. He then led a 58-yard drive on his second and final possession that ended in a red zone turnover by Darren McFadden. Prescott remains a high-floor starting quarterback in fantasy leagues entering the season.
Aug 19 - 7:48 PM

Christian McCaffrey rushed three times for 33 yards and one touchdown in the Panthers' second preseason game, adding two catches for 39 yards.

The Panthers' offense barely saw the field in the first quarter due to a first-play fumble by Devin Funchess and then a Derek Anderson interception, but Jonathan Stewart played six of the first ten snaps, with McCaffrey getting the other four and the next five. McCaffrey ripped off numerous big plays in succession, first a 13-yard run up the gut followed by a 17-yard touchdown between the right guard and tackle. On the next drive, he took a screen 38 yards. McCaffrey's burst especially stands out. He's the real deal. McCaffrey's ADP has settled in the mid third round.
Aug 19 - 4:56 PM

Derrick Henry rushed 16 times for 36 yards and two touchdowns in the Titans' second preseason game against the Panthers.

DeMarco Murray rested for this one, so Henry played the bulk of the first half and was the clear focal point of the offense when Matt Cassel entered the game. Henry couldn't get much going on his first few runs, but he blew around the edge and stiff-armed two defenders on his 17-yard touchdown before later scoring from one yard away on fourth-and-goal. Henry added three catches for 17 yards. If Murray ever goes down, Henry will be a fantasy RB1.
