ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Ezekiel Elliott is "ready for a long battle" regarding his six-game suspension.

Elliott already released a statement saying he will appeal, but Schefter reports that "might just be [the] first step in an ongoing ordeal," suggesting Zeke is willing to go to court to fight the ban. Elliott is worth an early-round fantasy pick even with the suspension looming, but it remains possible he either serves a lesser ban this year or is able to postpone the suspension the entire season. Like Le'Veon Bell last year, Elliott will likely end up a value when it is all said and done.

Saints signed RB Shane Vereen, formerly of the Giants.

This is our first blurb on Vereen since last Week 17, showing just how little interest he had as a free agent the previous four months. Now 29, Vereen didn't make much of an impact in his three years with the Giants after spending the first four in New England. A satellite back who offers very little as a runner, Vereen has 221 career catches for 1,865 yards and 11 scores. He's no lock to make the Saints' roster and is only insurance behind Alvin Kamara and company.

A Cowboys source told the Athletic's Calvin Watkins the Earl Thomas-to-Cowboys rumors are "a lot of media hype."

"Seattle not giving him away and we’re not overpaying," the source added. This has only gained steam due to Thomas' own voiced desire to play for Dallas back in his home state. The 29-year-old has threatened a holdout this summer if Seattle doesn't extend or trade him as he heads into his contract year. The Seahawks likely want at least a second-rounder and more for Thomas.

Former Jets, Bucs, Patriots, and Chiefs CB Darrelle Revis announced his retirement from the NFL after 11 seasons.

The former No. 14 overall pick in the 2007 draft, Revis was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and four-time first-team All-Pro pick. Revis turned 33 last weekend and spent eight seasons with the Jets across two stints and spent one each with the Bucs, Patriots, and Chiefs, winning Super Bowl 49 with New England. Revis picked off 29 career passes, but quarterbacks were so afraid to throw at "Revis Island" during his initial six-year stint with the Jets. He's a lock for the Hall of Fame and will likely see his name in the Jets' Ring of Honor.

Ricky Seals-Jones was arrested and charged with assault, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespassing in Scottsdale, Arizona this past Saturday.

Seals-Jones was arrested after he attempted to use the restroom in the W Hotel in Scottsdale. He then tried to use the facilities at the sushi restaurant located in the hotel and was again denied due to the restrooms only "available to guests." An employee says RSJ "one-hand shoved" him in the shoulder as Seals-Jones attempted to walk past staff. It’s a relatively minor incident, but who knows if anything will come of it, which RSJ could then be subject to a very minor suspension.

CBS' Jason La Canfora reports contract-year DT Aaron Donald has "told some close to him" he expects a new deal before the beginning of training camp.

The Rams surprisingly took care of Brandin Cooks before their franchise player. Donald held out of the Rams' offseason program. Donald held out until one day before the opener last season. There's been no word on his thinking on that front for 2018.

Cardinals GM Steve Keim has been suspended five weeks and fined $200,000 by the team after pleading guilty to extreme DUI.

The team decided to get out in front of the league with its punishment. Keim should face no further discipline. The suspension is apparently starting now, and Keim will be "barred from the Cardinals’ facilities and prohibited contact from the team." It's far from ideal timing for a general manager to be away from his club, but Keim will be back before the Cardinals have to cut down from 90 to 53 players.

Rams signed WR Brandin Cooks to a five-year, $80 million extension through 2023.

The deal includes a modest $20.5 million fully guaranteed. The Rams moved aggressively for Cooks after letting Sammy Watkins walk in free agency, and did not want to lose a field-stretching lid lifter for the second-straight free agency in 2019. It's a bold move considering Watkins' disappointing production with conservative Jared Goff, but the Rams spent the entire offseason talking Cooks up. Still somehow only 25 in September, Cooks is coming off three-straight 1,000-yard seasons, albeit with Drew Brees and Tom Brady at quarterback. He also has stiff target competition in Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Todd Gurley. Probably headed for a WR2/3 campaign in fantasy, Cooks will likely be more valuable on the real-life gridiron than virtual.

NFL reinstated Cowboys DE Randy Gregory from his indefinite suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

Drug bans have limited Gregory to just two appearances since 2015. He turned 25 in the interim. The No. 60 overall pick of the 2015 draft, Gregory has only one sack across 14 NFL appearances, but untapped potential. The Cowboys are perennially in need of pass-rushing help, and Gregory could provide a nice boost in sub-packages if he manages to stay on the field in 2018.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports unsigned franchise player Le'Veon Bell is expected to skip training camp but report for Week 1 for the second-straight season.

Fowler reports Bell holding out regular season games "would be a shock," and that the Steelers fully expect him to be in uniform for Week 1. Bell's agent essentially confirmed the approach in a radio interview. Bell would simply be leaving too much money on the table (over $7 million) to extend his holdout. Fantasy drafters can select Bell in the top three with confidence.

Seahawks contract-year FS Earl Thomas wants to be traded if the Seahawks don't extend him.

Thomas is threatening a training camp holdout after skipping the entire offseason. The Seahawks haven't made progress on an extension, and there are rumors a trade to Dallas is still in play. 29-year-old Thomas missed time with injuries the last two seasons, but there's been no dropoff from his All Pro form. Thomas is targeting $12 million annually on his next deal.

Jaguars signed No. 29 overall pick DL Taven Bryan to a four-year, $10.2 million contract.

The deal includes a fifth-year option and $5.5 million signing bonus. Bryan got slightly above slotted money despite his unproven college track record. The Jaguars plan to use Bryan in a rotation with Calais Campbell and Malik Jackson. He can also play inside in sub-packages.
