ESPN Saints reporter Mike Triplett reports "at least one other team" was willing to give Drew Brees $60 million guaranteed over two years in free agency.

Brees re-upped with the Saints for two years, $50 million, "just" $27 million of which is guaranteed. Brees took a discount to remain with the franchise he's been with since 2006. Money aside, even if the $60 million team was the loaded Vikings, Brees probably made the right decision remaining in the setup that's made him a future Hall-of-Famer.

Giovani Bernard and Mark Walton are the Bengals' only active running backs for Week 3 at Carolina.

Thomas Rawls is a healthy scratch. Walton barely made the Bengals' 53-man roster after an absymal preseason, but Cincinnati has always been very committed to their draft picks. Walton was a healthy scratch in Weeks 1-2. It would be surprising if Walton played much on Sunday. Gio should get a big workload.

Eagles RB Corey Clement is active for Sunday’s Week 3 games versus the Colts. Eagles declared RB Jay Ajayi, WR Alshon Jeffery, OT Jordan Mailata, OG Matt Pryor, RB Darren Sproles, QB Nate Sudfeld, and OG Chance Warmack inactive for Sunday's game.

Clement popped up on the injury report with a quad injury late Friday afternoon, but is in the lineup this Sunday. With both Ajayi and Sproles inactive, Clement will lead and share a backfield with Wendell Smallwood and rookie Josh Adams Sunday versus the Colts. Coming off 11 touches for 85 yards a week ago, Clement will be a solid RB2 option even if Smallwood and Adams garner touches as the Eagles are known to spread around opportunity among their running backs. The Colts have especially vulnerable in the passing game to backs out of the backfield, allowing 22 receptions for 187 yards through two weeks to opposing running backs.

Bills declared LeSean McCoy, Phillip Gaines, Logan Thomas, Shaq Lawson, Ike Boettger, Conor McDermott, and Wyatt Teller inactive for Week 3 against the Vikings.

McCoy traveled with the team to Minnesota but was still ailing during pregame warmups. With Taiwan Jones (head) active, the Bills will have Chris Ivory, Marcus Murphy, and Jones available to replace McCoy. It's a horrendous spot for all against the Vikings' stout run defense.

Aaron Rodgers (knee) is active for Week 3 against the Redskins.

The Packers will keep pretending Rodgers is questionable for the foreseeable future. Inactive for the Packers are QB Tim Boyle, WR Equanimeous St. Brown, CB Kevin King, RB Darius Jackson, S Josh Jones, OL Alex Light and WR J'Mon Moore.

Redskins WR Paul Richardson (knee, shoulder) is active for Week 3 against the Packers.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Baker Mayfield will be named the Browns' starting quarterback on Monday.

This has been the expectation all along. The decision for coach Hue Jackson was a fairly easy one as the reigning Heisman Trophy winner looked miles better than Tyrod Taylor in Thursday's victory over the Jets. It appears Taylor will be able to clear the concussion protocol in time for next week's game at Oakland but he'll be holding the clipboard for Mayfield. The No. 1 pick in April's draft will be worth adding in most formats.

DeVante Parker (finger) is officially active for Week 3 against the Raiders.

Marquise Goodwin (quad) is active for Week 3 against the Chiefs.

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the Seahawks are considering a "significant fine" for FS Earl Thomas after missing two practices this week.

Both absences were unexcused. It's the latest development in Thomas' ongoing feud with the Seahawks, who continue to rebuff trade offers for the disgruntled safety. Despite blowing off practice during the week, Thomas was present for Saturday's walkthrough and coach Pete Carroll plans to start him against the Cowboys in Week 3. Dallas has been the most aggressive team in pursuing Thomas and that would seem to be the 29-year-old's preferred landing spot, though ESPN's Adam Schefter still believes it's a "super long shot" that the Cowboys would meet Seattle's sky-high asking price. The Chiefs have emerged as a candidate for Thomas if he's traded before the Week 8 trade deadline.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Patriots nearly completed a deal to send Rob Gronkowski to the Lions back in April.

The Patriots and Lions were deep into trade talks leading up to the draft. Despite the presence of GM Bob Quinn and head coach Matt Patricia, both Patriots alums, Gronkowski had no interest in joining the Lions and even threatened to retire if the Patriots traded him. Gronkowski was contacted repeatedly by the Lions while trade talks were going on, but wouldn't answer their calls. This prompted a sit-down meeting with Bill Belichick, which eventually led to a reconciliation between Gronk and the Patriots. Already on a Hall of Fame trajectory, the 29-year-old's 77 receiving touchdowns rank third all-time among tight ends.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, there's at least "a possibility" Joe Mixon (knee) will return against the Falcons in Week 4.

Mixon underwent a knee scope following last week's win over Baltimore but is already on the mend and could be ready by next week. That may be ambitious, though Mixon claims to be feeling "much better" and is eager to get back on the field. After struggling as a rookie, the 22-year-old has gotten off to a booming start this year, rolling to 236 yards (179 rushing, 57 receiving) and a touchdown on 44 touches. Giovani Bernard's stay atop the Bengals' running back depth chart could be a short one.
