Kelvin Benjamin (knee surgery) is participating in voluntary workouts.

Benjamin underwent knee surgery after the season. Participating in the workout portion of the offseason program does not mean he is back to 100 percent, but he appears to be close to full health at worst. Benjamin should be ready for OTAs.

Drew Brees completed 23-of-35 passes for 203 scoreless yards and an interception in the Saints' 12-9, Week 15 win over the Panthers on Monday night.

Brees has been a total bust for fantasy owners the last three weeks, averaging just 177 yards passing in that span with a 2:3 TD:INT mark in three consecutive road games at Dallas, Tampa, and Carolina. New Orleans has still won two of those despite Brees' lack of production. Brees should bounce back in a big way next week at the Superdome against the high-flying Steelers.

Cam Newton completed 16-of-29 passes for 131 scoreless yards and an interception in the Panthers' 12-9, Week 15 loss to the Saints.

He did nothing as a runner with just 15 yards on five attempts. Newton has looked far from healthy for weeks, and his play has gone in the gutter with the Panthers dropping six straight games. He has just two touchdowns and six picks over the last three weeks and hasn't thrown a touchdown in two straight games. Newton's throws are wobbling out, and he can't challenge downfield at all with his bum throwing shoulder. It wouldn't be a surprise if he gets at least one of the final two games off. Carolina gets the Falcons at home in Week 16. The way he's playing right now, Cam is impossible to trust even in that great on-paper matchup.
Dec 17 - 11:35 PM

Michael Thomas caught 7-of-9 targets for 49 yards in the Saints' 12-9, Week 15 win over the Panthers.

Thomas went into halftime with one catch for five yards. His stat line could have been much better, but he had three catches called that would have totaled over 45 yards and also drew a defensive pass interference penalty. It'll be a tough pill to swallow for fantasy managers who needed those points. Thomas should have better numbers Week 16 at home against the Steelers.

Christian McCaffrey rushed 15 times for 53 yards and caught 8-of-11 targets for 67 yards in the Panthers' 12-9, Week 15 loss to the Saints, adding a 50-yard touchdown pass.

McCaffrey was the entire offense for Carolina, accounting for its only touchdown on a 4th-and-2 trick play throw to FB/TE Chris Manhertz, who was wide open down the seam. Cam Newton mustered just 131 scoreless yards with a pick as a passer. His shoulder is shot. McCaffrey is all this team has on the offensive side of the ball. McCaffrey gets a home date with Atlanta next week. The Falcons are annually the worst team at defending dual-threat running backs.
Dec 17 - 11:25 PM

Alvin Kamara rushed 14 times for 67 yards and one touchdown in the Saints' 12-9, Week 15 win over the Panthers on Monday night, adding seven catches for 36 yards on nine targets.

Kamara scored the Saints' only touchdown, running one in from 16 yards out early in the fourth quarter to put New Orleans in the lead for the first time all night, a lead they tried to give back when Tommylee Lewis fumbled out of the end zone for a touchback while up 12-9 with less than two minutes to play. Kamara out-touched Mark Ingram 21-14 in this one and really took over in the second half. New Orleans hosts the Steelers in Week 16. Kamara is an RB1.

Coach Sean McVay said Todd Gurley has knee inflammation and is day to day.

Gurley had to take a series off in the third quarter of Sunday night's stunning loss to the Eagles and was seen icing his knee on the sideline before eventually returning. Malcolm Brown (shoulder) has already been lost for the season, leaving Justin Davis and John Kelly as Gurley's backups. Gurley should be okay for Week 16 against Arizona, but the Rams could give him a little more rest.

Packers claimed RB Kapri Bibbs off waivers from the Redskins.

It's not a good sign for Aaron Jones (knee), who may be headed for injured reserve soon. Jamaal Williams will be Green Bay's Week 16 featured runner.

The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers considers Cardinals coach Steve Wilks' firing after the season to be a "foregone conclusion."

Somers considers the lone question to be whether GM Steve Keim follows Wilks out the door. Somers' "hunch" is that president Michael Bidwell gives Keim one more year, but doesn't expect Wilks to get the same treatment after putting together a coaching staff that prioritized implementing "their schemes" over minimizing personnel strengths and maximizing weaknesses, using Patrick Peterson as a zone corner early in the year, and failing to put their best skill-position players and rookie quarterback in position to succeed.

Hunter Henry (ACL, PUP) returned to Chargers practice on Monday.

Henry remains on the reserve/PUP list, but there is a possibility the Chargers could get him back for the playoffs. It would be a surprise if Henry were active for Week 17, and he certainly won't play this week. Henry's Monday return to practice opens a 21-day window to participate in drills and potentially be added to the 53-man roster. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith predicted Henry versus Derrick Johnson would be one of last Thursday night's key matchups. Neither Henry (PUP) nor Johnson (street free agent) played in that game, but perhaps Smith was just a few weeks early on the return of the Chargers' 24-year-old difference-maker tight end.

Bills RB Marcus Murphy has a dislocated elbow.

He will go on I.R. Murphy operated as Buffalo's lead back in LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and Chris Ivory's (shoulder) Week 15 absence before going down. Keith Ford entered to parlay 15 touches into 53 yards. If McCoy and Ivory can't go in Week 16 against the Patriots, Ford could become a sleeper for 20 touches.

Speaking Monday, Raiders coach Jon Gruden referred to Derek Carr as a "great quarterback."

It's notable because the Raiders are in prime position to draft a quarterback early in the first round. But if Gruden is to be believed, they won't be going that route. "The guy is a hell of a player," Gruden said, calling Carr's ability to perform capably "astonishing" amid shoddy pass protection. "The guy is a great quarterback." Carr is completing a career-best 68.4% of his throws and averaging a career-best 7.5 yards per attempt.
