Chiefs coach Andy Reid was vague when asked about Spencer Ware's (PCL, LCL) health on Monday.

Reid first stated he expected Ware to be ready for training camp, then later backtracked and said "you never know." Reid indicated Ware participating in any football activities before training camp would be a surprise. Since last season ended, the Chiefs have added two veteran backs in Damien Williams and Kerwynn Williams, hinting at concern over Ware's recovery.

Titans placed RT Jack Conklin on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.

Coach Mike Vrabel had been holding out hope that Conklin could return after getting injured last Thursday, but his knee obviously was not responding the way the team had hoped. It's especially poor news after Conklin missed the first three games of the year recovering from last season's torn ACL. 2018 was a lost campaign for a player who had been shaping up as one of the league's better tackles. Still only 24, Conklin will have an excellent shot at a bounce-back effort in the second-to-last year of his rookie contract in 2019. Dennis Kelly is the next man up for Tennessee.

Bears slot CB Bryce Callahan has been diagnosed with a broken foot and is out indefinitely.

A Chicago memorabilia shop broke the news after Callahan had to cancel an appearance. Callahan will miss at least the rest of the regular season and likely the Bears' playoff run, as well. It's a huge blow, as Callahan had been operating as one of the league's top nickel corners. Sherrick McManis is the next man up.

Isaiah Crowell (foot) did not practice Tuesday.

Crowell only got in four snaps against the Bills after re-aggravating his toe injury. Elijah McGuire came in and logged season-highs in snaps (40) and carries (17). Given New York's short turnaround (Saturday), this isn't good for Crowell's pending availability. Houston's stout run defense presents a nightmarish matchup on the ground, but McGuire can certainly get by as a usage-based flex with passing game chops if Crowell's inactive.

Spencer Ware (shoulder, hamstring) remained sidelined at practice Tuesday.

Ware finished Sunday's contest against the Ravens, so his absence is still considered precautionary at this point. Coach Andy Reid said Ware is currently considered "day to day." Wednesday will go a long way in telling what the Chiefs plan to do in their backfield. Damien Williams would become a usage-based RB2 in the unlikely event Ware is out.
Dec 11 - 1:00 PM

Tyreek Hill (heel, wrist) returned to practice Tuesday.

Coach Andy Reid said Hill is "moving around alright" and "should be OK" for Thursday. Hill may be less than 100 percent, but he's fully expected to play in the Chiefs' pivotal divisional tilt against the Chargers. Start him with confidence.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin left the door open for James Conner (ankle) to play this week.

Tomlin basically said we will see when asked about Conner, but it is promising he did not simply rule out the running back. Even so, it will be a stretch for Conner to return this week. Jaylen Samuels operated as the clear lead back against the Raiders last week.
Dec 11 - 1:00 PM

Texans coach Bill O'Brien said Keke Coutee (hamstring) is "trending toward being able to play."

Coutee has been sidelined since aggravating his hamstring injury against the Titans. Even if he is active, he is too big an injury risk and does not have a certain enough target share to trust in fantasy lineups this weekend.

Vikings promoted QBs coach Kevin Stefanski to offensive coordinator.

Stefanski will replace John DeFilippo, who was fired on Tuesday. Giants coach Pat Shurmur tried to take Stefanski with him when he left last offseason, but the Vikings blocked the interview request. There was some thought Minnesota should have just promoted Stefanski after Shurmur left, and now he will get his shot. Considering coach Mike Zimmer's recent comments, Stefanski will likely lean on the running game a bit more than DeFilippo did this season.

Vikings fired OC John DeFilippo.

The Vikings had big expectations on offense after signing Kirk Cousins this offseason, and they simply have not met them, especially as of late. The final straw was a disheartening loss to the Seahawks on Monday night in which Minnesota did not score until deep into garbage time. Considered an up-and-comer when the Vikings hired him, it will be interesting to see where DeFilippo lands once the coaching carousel starts spinning in January.

Ben Roethlisberger (ribs) fully expects to play against the Patriots on Sunday.

"No, no, I don’t think so," Roethlisberger responded when asked if there was any reason he would not play against New England. Coach Mike Tomlin revealed Roethlisberger did not immediately re-enter Sunday's game against Oakland because it takes pain-killers some time to kick in, suggesting Roethlisberger's injury is just a pain-management issue. Assuming he plays, Roethlisberger will be a solid QB1 against New England.

NFL Network's Steve Wyche reports the Chargers are "not optimistic" Austin Ekeler (neck, concussion) will play Thursday against the Chiefs.

Ekeler seemed like a longshot to play after he was added to the concussion protocol on Monday. The Chargers also expect to be without Melvin Gordon, meaning Justin Jackson should carry the load against the Chiefs. He is the No. 1 add in leagues he is still available.
