49ers restructured LT Joe Staley's contract.

Most of the time a restructuring involves a pay cut, but Staley will get $6.4 million more over the final two years of his contract. His total compensation for 2018 was bumped up from $5.5 million to $8.72 million. Staley remains under contract through 2019.

Tom Brady's agent fully expects his client to return for the 2018 season.

The "Brady might retire" story appeared mortally wounded mere hours after it arrived in the world, but it now sounds officially dead. Brady forcing the Patriots' hand with Jimmy Garoppolo and then retiring would have been an all-time betrayal. It also never seemed to have an actual chance of happening. Fresh off winning an MVP award at age 40 and throwing for over 500 yards in the Super Bowl, Brady will enter 2018 remaining one of the very best players in the league.

Landon Collins underwent surgery on his forearm Monday.

Collins originally underwent surgery after he broke his forearm last December, but the bone did not heal properly. The safety confirmed he would need a second surgery earlier this month. Collins is expected to be sidelined six-to-eight weeks.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Ravens "are out" on free agent Dez Bryant.

A similar report popped up last week, but the signing of Willie Snead officially put the Ravens' interest to bed. Dez has also been linked with the Cardinals, Bills, and Packers, but nothing concrete has materialized to this point. It is possible both Dez and his potential suitors want to see how the draft shakes out before making any decisions.

Ravens signed Willie Snead, formerly of the Saints, to a two-year, $7 million contract.

The deal includes a $2 million signing bonus. Since Snead was a restricted free agent, the Saints had the option to match his offer sheet, but they declined. Snead was foiled by a suspension, injuries, and a lack of playing time last season, but he was a consistently productive part of New Orleans' passing attack in 2015 and 16, racking up 141 catches for 1,879 yards and seven touchdowns those two seasons. He is a good get for a team which needs as much help in the passing game as they can find.

Steelers exercised OLB Bud Dupree's fifth-year option for 2019.

The No. 22 overall pick of the 2015 draft, Dupree has been mostly a disappointment through three seasons, recording just 14.5 sacks total. He had his most productive season last year, however, and the option is guaranteed for injury only, meaning the Steelers can still cut him next spring if he does not improve. If he plays out the option year, Dupree will earn $9.232 million in 2019.

Cowboys exercised DB Byron Jones' fifth-year option for 2019.

Assuming he is not extended before then, Jones will earn $6.266 million in 2019. The salary is guaranteed for injury only. Jones has primarily played safety each of the last two seasons, but he is expected to move to corner this year.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Louisville QB Lamar Jackson had a top-30 visit with the Patriots.

It is interesting because the Patriots both need a developmental quarterback behind Tom Brady and have two picks at the end of the first round, Nos. 23 and 31. Expected to be selected in the first 20 picks, Jackson might not fall to New England, but they have the firepower to move up and get him if they are interested. Jackson also visited the Ravens last week.

MMQB's Peter King reports the Eagles want to trade out of the No. 32 pick.

The Eagles aren't scheduled to pick again until No. 130 after trading their second- and third-round picks to Cleveland (Carson Wentz) and Buffalo (Ronald Darby), respectively. Philly likely wants to move down to grab more picks. The No. 32 pick is the final selection offering a five-year contract, so the Eagles' pick should attract a lot of interest at the end of Thursday night.

According to SI's Peter King, the Cardinals "don't like Baker Mayfield, they love him."

In fact, King has the Cardinals trading up from No. 15 to No. 5 to draft Mayfield in the spot currently owned by Denver. It would be a steep price for Arizona to pay, almost certainly including next year's first-round pick. To date, Mayfield has been the favorite to go to the Jets at No. 3 overall. King has the Jets passing on Mayfield in favor of UCLA QB Josh Rosen.

A source he "trusts" who is "very well-connected" and "very often right" told MMQB's Peter King the Browns won't take Wyoming QB Josh Allen with the No. 1 overall pick.

It should be a breath of fresh air for Cleveland fans; analytically, Allen barely belongs in the first round let alone in conversation for the No. 1 pick. King published a mock draft in his MMQB article, and sent USC QB Sam Darnold to the Browns at No. 1. We agree and also expect Cleveland to take Darnold.

The NFL will meet May 1-2 at league headquarters in New York to continue discussion about player safety.

The "summit" will focus on the future of kickoffs. The attendance list has not yet been finalized, but invitees include former players, team executives, and both current and former coaches. Though there is reportedly no indication the kickoff could be eliminated as early as this season, this particular meeting will occur just over one month after the league added a "targeting" penalty. League offices have also prepared a memorandum to address the increase in training camp concussions.
