Panthers RG Trai Turner (concussion) is out for Week 2 against the Falcons.

The Panthers' offensive line is a total mess after it lost LT Matt Kalil (knee) in the preseason and RT Daryl Williams (knee) again in Week 1. Beat writer Joe Person expects the line to be LT Chris Clark (who was signed on Wednesday), LG Greg Van Roten, C Ryan Kalil, RG Amini Silatolu, and RT Taylor Moton.

Bears coach Matt Nagy said Jordan Howard needs "probably a few more carries."

When speaking about Howard's limited fourth quarter workload -- he received just two carries and one target in Monday's fourth quarter -- Nagy said, "I think probably a few more carries is probably the answer to that." The coach also mentioned that the Bears need to be playing with a lead for Howard to get the "typical 8-10 fourth quarter carries." Howard is already averaging 19 touches per game, but a few more carries would certainly help his fantasy value.

Suspended Chargers DT Corey Liuget is suing his ex-trainer, blaming him for his PED ban.

Liuget is seeking $15 million in damages. He alleges his ex-trainer told him he was using a "high dose of an over-the-counter, anti-inflammatory" to treat Liuget's foot pain. Instead, according to Liuget, it was a banned substance. Liuget will return to the Bolts in Week 5.

Redskins placed RB Rob Kelley on injured reserve with a toe injury.

Kelley was injured in Sunday's loss to the Colts. It sounds like he will be a candidate for return. Kelley must sit at least eight games. Samaje Perine will slot in as the Redskins' No. 3 back.

Jets worked out free agent OT Will Beatty.

ESPN originally reported Beatty worked out for the Giants but quickly corrected its mistake. Now 33, Beatty has not made an NFL start since 2014. He has just seven appearances over the past three seasons. It's hard to see how he would make anything better in New York. Beatty was part of a large group of linemen to work out on Tuesday.

Chris Carson remains atop the Seahawks' running back depth chart for Week 3.

"Gassed" from playing special teams — really (at least according to coach Pete Carroll) — Carson did not touch the ball in the second half of Monday's dispiriting loss to the Bears. Any time Carroll opens his mouth, he sings Carson's praises, but the usage has not matched the verbiage so far this season. Carson will be a risky, low-end FLEX play for Week 3 against the Cowboys.

Falcons placed LG Andy Levitre on injured reserve with a triceps injury, ending his season.

Levitre isn't as big of a loss as he would have been in the past — he took a pay cut in March — but it's still a major blow for a Falcons team that's been bitten hard by the injury bug in the early going. The Falcons must now move forward with Wes Schweitzer as a starter. He was a liability in 2017. It's bad news for the Falcons' running game. Now 32, Levitre will be a free agent next offseason.

Free agent WR Jordan Matthews worked out for the Eagles on Tuesday.

The Eagles are running low on bodies at receiver, and Matthews is an #OldFriend. His addition would be mixed news for Nelson Agholor, who would maybe have to spend less time in the slot.

Bengals signed K Randy Bullock to a two-year extension through 2020.

It's a rare bit of good kicking news in what's been a dark week for the position. The Bengals' kicker since midway through 2016, Bullock has converted an elite 90 percent of his field goal attempts in the Queen City.

Giants signed FB Elijhaa Penny.

Penny was on the Cardinals' practice squad. ESPN Giants reporter Jordan Raanan hints Penny will be taking FB Shane Smith's roster spot outright after Smith struggled against the Cowboys. Judging from how the Giants looked on Sunday night, switching fullbacks will be tantamount to re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Vikings signed DT Tom Johnson to a one-year, $1 million contract.

Johnson can earn another $500,000 through incentives. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the Vikes are eyeing Johnson as their "top reserve" on the interior after he started 15 games a season ago. Johnson was released by the Seahawks over the weekend.

Bills coach Sean McDermott and DC Leslie Frazier are expected to "collaborate" on the team's defensive calls going forward.

McDermott took over play-calling duties midway through Sunday's blowout loss to the Chargers. Speaking Monday, he tiptoed around whether the move would be permanent. "We're going to do whatever it takes to win," McDermott said. "Sometimes you're able to get into a flow. Sometimes somebody else, you feel like, can get into a flow. That was really where it came from." A "hot hand" approach at defensive coordinator is a new one. We would consider McDermott the team's primary defensive play-caller until further notice.
