Patrick Roy receives another fine from QMJHL

Patrick Roy was fined $5,000 by the QMJHL for suggesting that commissioner Gilles Courteau rushed Mikhail Grigorenko back from an ankle injury so that he could play in the CHL Top Prospects Game.

"I find it extremely unfortunate that we seem to want to promote the league's image instead of protecting the players," Roy said. He went onto imply that Courteau put his ambitions of becoming the commissioner of the Canadian Hockey League ahead of Grigorenko's best interests. Grigorenko has a legitimate shot of being the first pick overall in the 2012 NHL entry draft, although Nail Yakupov appears to be the more likely choice. Meanwhile, Roy has already been fined three times this season. Roy might be a candidate to become the Montreal Canadiens head coach when they re-examine their situation in the off-season.

Dustin Penner sends LA to Stanley Cup finals

Dustin Penner scored the 4-3 overtime game-winner to clinch a 4-1 series win for the Los Angeles Kings against the Phoenix Coyotes.

This marks the first time the Kings made it to the Stanley Cup finals since 1993. Penner and Drew Doughty collected a goal and an assist apiece. Jeff Carter collected two helpers as he continues to heat up. Anze Kopitar and Mike Richards scored the Kings' other tallies as they found a way to beat Phoenix.

Adrian Aucoin wil be a game-time decision

Coach Dave Tippett indicated Adrian Aucoin (lower body) will be a game-time decision.

The veteran defenseman was injured in Game 5 of the conference semifinal against Nashville. He has two assists and is a plus-4 in 10 playoff games.

Kings could advance, win 8th straight on road

Not only will the Los Angeles Kings be looking to knock out the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday night in Game 5 of their Western Conference final, they'll be seeking their eighth straight playoff road win.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, if the Kings do win, they'll become the first team to go undefeated away from home ice on their way to the Stanley Cup finals under the current playoff format. "We've got to win this next game," said Kings defenseman Drew Doughty. "We gave them hope [Sunday] night. We let them back into the series, making it 3-1. So this next game is huge. ... "We've got to play our best game."

Michael Del Zotto struggles, sits in Game 4

Michael Del Zotto spent some time in the doghouse in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday night after making several mistakes defensively.

He logged a postseason-low 11:39 of ice time, but he did collect an assist on Ruslan Fedotenko's first goal of the spring in the third period. Del Zotto was playing in his first game since his grandmother passed away over the weekend and he saw just one shift in the second period. "It was a struggle for him," coach John Tortorella said. "He hasn't had many games like that this year. With the extra D we dressed, we just wanted to take a little pressure off him and let him watch for a bit." Stu Bickel started the game as a forward, but played on the back end when Del Zotto was benched. The 21-year-old defender will look to refocus and rebound in Game 5 on Wednesday.

Jacob Josefson relishes return to lineup

Jacob Josefson logged nearly 13 minutes of ice time in his return to the lineup from a fractured wrist on Monday night.

His last game took place on April 3rd but he said he "felt good" coming back in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Rangers. "My body felt great. My legs felt really good," said Josefson, who skated between Alexei Ponikarovsky and David Clarkson on the third line. "It was so much to be out there. I've been waiting for this day since I got the injury. It was real nice." He finished the contest with two shots and a plus-1 rating, while winning nine of his 14 faceoffs. Josefson replaced Petr Sykora, who sat as a healthy scratch, in the lineup.

Parise's 3-point night helps NJ even series

Zach Parise notched two goals and an assist as the New Jersey Devils evened the Eastern Conference final series with the New York Rangers with a 4-1 win Monday night.

Parise was all over the place in this game, also finishing with a game-high plus-three rating. He set up the Devils' second goal by Travis Zajac in the first period, then banked home the rebound at the front of the net on an Ilya Kovalchuk shot in the third. He also added the empty-netter. Bryce Salvardor had the first goal of the game, a wrister that went through all kinds of traffic in front to beat Henrik Lundqvist, and he also had an assist. Six different New Jersey players had assists, including Martin Brodeur on the the empty-net goal. Ryan Carter finished with 12 penalty minutes.

The Anaheim Ducks sign goalie Viktor Fasth

Viktor Fasth has agreed to a one-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks.

Fasth's deal is one-way and he'll reportedly earn $1 million. He's the heavy favorite to enter the 2012-13 campaign as Jonas Hiller's understudy. He had a 2.12 GAA and .931 save percentage in 46 Swedish Elite League games in 2011-12.

Carolina inks Jamie McBain to a two-year deal

Jamie McBain has agreed to a two-year extension with the Carolina Hurricanes.

McBain's contract will reportedly come with a $1.8 million annual cap hit. McBain had eight goals and 27 points in 76 games in his second full NHL season. He was scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer.

NHL delivers Prust a one-game suspension

Brandon Prust has received a one-game suspension for elbowing New Jersey's Anton Volchenkov in the back of the head.

The incident occurred in the second period of Game 3. "While it’s true that Volchenkov turns away from Prust in order to avoid being checked, his doing so does not cause an otherwise legal hit to become an elbow to the head," disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan said. "Rather, Prust reacts to Volchenkov’s evasive move by flaring his elbow. In fact, it’s not until after he realizes that he will not make contact that Prust extends and raises his elbow to clip Volchenkov’s head." Prust will miss Monday's game, but he will be eligible to return on Wednesday.

Mike Smith blanks Kings to avoid sweep

The Los Angeles Kings got a little taste of what the Phoenix Coyotes' other opponents have experienced in the playoffs as Mike Smith shut them out in a 2-0 win to bring the series to 3-1.

Smith stopped all 36 Kings shots while the Coyotes only fired 19 shots on goal. It seems fair that Smith generated at least one win in this series because he's been one of the bright spots - for the most part - it what has mostly been a pretty one-sided series.

Alexander Semin powers Russia's gold win

Alexander Semin came up huge for Russia against Slovakia in the gold medal game in a dominant 6-2 victory.

Semin scored two goals and one assist to help Russia improve its tournament record to 10-0 in 2012. Pavel Datsyuk was almost as good as he collected one tally and two helpers. Alex Ovechkin had two assists to round out some of the big-name scoring. Zdeno Chara scored both of Slovakia's goals, including a 1-0 tally 66 seconds in that seemed to indicate good things for Slovakia, who will settle for silver.
