Dustin Tokarski will play between the pipes on Tuesday.

Tokarski lost both of his first two career NHL starts and he'll have a hard time picking up his first win against the Boston Bruins. That being said, the Lightning badly need to bring an end to their losing streak quickly if they want to have any shot of making the playoffs.

Rick Nash is reportedly interested in returning to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

According to the Athletic's Aaron Portzline, Columbus is at the top of Nash's list and the team has been showing more interest than they did at the trade deadline. However, Portzline added that Boston and other teams will be in the mix as well for the veteran winger. Nash started his NHL career with the Blue Jackets after the team selected him first overall in 2002. He last played for the club in 2011-12.

John Carlson has inked an eight-year contract extension with the Washington Capitals.

Carlson's new deal will be worth $64 million for an annual average value of $8 million per season. He was eligible for unrestricted free agency, but the Capitals made sure that didn't happen. Carlson led all defensemen in scoring during the regular season with 68 points in 82 games. He also topped all blueliners in scoring during the playoffs with 20 points in 15 outings.

Chicago has traded Tanner Kero to Vancouver in exchange for Michael Chaput.

Kero spent most of the 2017-18 season with Rockford of the AHL and he posted 20 points in 36 contests. He also had one goal and two assists in eight outings with the Blackhawks last year.

Xavier Ouellet has been placed on unconditional waivers by the Red Wings.

It was reported earlier that Detroit intended to use a buyout on Ouellet and this is the first step in that process. The Red Wings will only be on the hook for 1/3 of his remaining salary because he is under the age of 26.

Nikita Soshnikov's agent, Dal Milstein, has confirmed that his client has signed a one-year contract with the St. Louis Blues.

Soshnikov was set to be a restricted free agent on July 1, but he was reportedly considering going to the KHL. He got a one-way contract from the Blues to remain in North America. Soshnikov had two points in 12 games with St. Louis after he was acquired from Toronto during the 2017-18 season.

Chris Wideman has re-signed with the Ottawa Senators.

Wideman was eligible for unrestricted free agency on July 1, but made it clear he preferred to be back with the Senators. He ended up agreeing to a one-year contract worth $1 million. Wideman only played in 16 games last season because of a torn hamstring, but he is ready for the 2018-19 campaign.

Noah Hanifin is expected to partner with Travis Hamonic on the blueline for the Flames next season.

Hanifin was acquired from the Hurricanes on Saturday along with Elias Lindholm as Dougie Hamilton, Micheal Ferland and Adam Fox went the other way. The Flames are expected to reunite T.J. Brodie with Mark Giordano as well and their blueline appears to be one of the best in the NHL. Look for Hanifin to continue improving as he had 10 goals and 32 points as a 21-year-old in his third NHL season.

According to Arthur Staple of The Athletic, the John Tavares contract saga will end with him signing for $12 million per year.

Staple added that Tavares will get this amount either with the Islanders or another team. A $12-million per year deal would put him behind only Connor McDavid ($12.5 million) for the second largest contract in the NHL. Staple made it clear that general manager Lou Lamoriello is ready to do whatever it takes to keep his star center and that owner Scott Malkin is ready for the same. "He wanted this franchise to be the best in the National Hockey League," Lamoriello said of Malkin. "He gave me the authority to go out and do whatever’s necessary to do that. The first decision certainly was to get a coach. In my opinion, we got one of the best in the league. Now, we want to convince our player that this is the right situation for him. But he has to make that decision." The Tavares situation will heat up at 12:01 AM eastern on Sunday when the pending free-agent is permitted to speak to other teams.

The Colorado Avalanche have inked Philipp Grubauer to a three-year contract.

Grubauer's new deal is reportedly worth $10 million and average put to $3.33 million per season. He was sent to Colorado alongside Brooks Orpik for a second round pick in the 2018 Draft. Grubauer leads the NHL in five-on-five save percentage over the last two seasons, albeit in a small sample size. He'll battle with Semyon Varlamov, who has struggled to remain healthy recently, for the starting goaltending duties in Colorado.

According to Calgary Flames head coach Bill Peters, Elias Lindholm is currently penciled into Calgary's first line.

Peters knows Lindholm well, coaching the Swede for the previous four seasons as the head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes. Playing alongside Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan will certainly boost Lindholm's fantasy value and we fully expect him to eclipse his career-high of 45 points set during the 2016-17 season.
