As expected, Daniel Sedin practiced Tuesday with his Canucks teammates. It is not known if he will play Wednesday.

It has been eight days since Daniel Sedin suffered a setback and his practice today was performed in front of the Vancouver management team. Daniel and brother Henrik were accompanied on the top line by David Booth.

Kyle Clifford was bumped up to the Kings' top line during Thursday's practice.

Marian Gaborik was moved to the third line as a result. It's hard to see Gaborik being kept off the top-six for long, so Clifford's position is likely temporary. Still, it makes Clifford a player worth keeping an eye on when Los Angeles faces Boston on Saturday.

Cedric Paquette lit the lamp three times for the Bolts on Thursday night as Tampa Bay hammered Detroit 5-1.

The 21-year-old rookie's first career hat trick was completed in dramatic fashion, as the forward tipped a puck at the blueline on the penalty kill to intercept a pass, took the puck to the net on an odd-man rush and fired home the shorthanded goal for his ninth of the season. Paquette has a hot stick with five points in his last three games and 15 through 40 games this season.

Jason Spezza went pointless in his return to Ottawa on Thursday, but the Stars were able to beat the Senators 6-3.

The performance snapped a six-game points streak for the veteran center, but the longtime Senator probably had other things on his mind as he was given a warm welcome returning to the city that drafted him. The Canadian Tire Centre crowd applauded their former captain after a video tribute during a commercial break. Spezza has 35 points in 48 games with the Stars.

Carey Price made 24 saves on Thursday night, and the Habs needed each and every one of them, as Montreal squeaked by New York 1-0.

Price has won four straight games and has not allowed more than two goals in his past five games for the Canadiens. Of course, we're not including his performance for Team Foligno in Sunday's All Star Game. Price improves to 26-10-2 this year with a .931 save percentage and 2.09 goals against average.

Ilya Bryzgalov is probable to start for the Ducks Thursday against San Jose.

He was the first goalie off the ice and the Ducks play again Friday versus Chicago, so Frederik Andersen will probably play that contest. Bryzgalov made 14 saves in a 5-1 win over New Jersey on Jan. 16 in his last outing.

Joffrey Lupul has been activated by the Maple Leafs and he'll be back in the lineup on Thursday.

He has sat out the last 11 games with a lower-body injury. It's still unclear where Lupul will play, but it wouldn't be surprising if he bumped Leo Komarov of the top line and skated alongside Nazem Kadri and Phil Kessel.
Jan 29 - 3:12 PM

Taylor Hall (leg) won't be in the lineup on Thursday against Buffalo.

"He's still day-to-day and going under treatment," coach Todd Nelson said. "I don't have any answer on when he'll be back. We just take it every day and see if he's getting better." Hall didn't take part in the morning skate and he didn't practice on Wednesday either after missing Tuesday's game with a bone bruise.
Jan 29 - 2:02 PM

Martin Brodeur officially called it a career on Thursday.

He announced his retirement in a press conference at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Brodeur was named a senior advisor to Blues GM Doug Armstrong for the rest of this season and he's excited about the change. "This is a great day for me," Brodeur said. "I'm excited to start a new chapter in my hockey career. It's something I've been thinking about." He won't have any trouble getting into the Hall of Fame after he set NHL goaltending records in games (1,266), wins (691), shutouts (125), consecutive 20-win seasons (12), consecutive 30-win seasons (12), and consecutive 40-win seasons (three).

Jason Spezza will make his return to Ottawa on Thursday night as a member of the Dallas Stars.

The Senators visited Dallas on Jan. 13, but this meeting will be different. Spezza spent 11 seasons in Ottawa before requesting a trade. He has fond memories of his former team, but he is happy to be with the Stars. "When you're in the same spot for a long time, sometimes it takes a hard decision," said Spezza. "Hopefully, they appreciate I gave everything when I was here and tried to do all I could to help us win." He is getting more comfortable with his new team and will take a five-game point streak (one goal, five assists) into Thursday's match.
Jan 29 - 12:20 PM

Craig Anderson has a hand injury that will probably keep him out of the lineup against Dallas on Thursday.

Andrew Hammond is up with Ottawa on an emergency recall and Robin Lehner will get the nod when the Senators host the Stars. Consider Anderson day-to-day for now.

Patrick Kane scored and added a helper in Chicago's 4-3 loss to the LA Kings on Wednesday.

Kane picked up his 23rd goal of the season in the loss and his 53rd point in 48 games. He now has six points in his last four games. If he keeps up this pace he has a shot at eclipsing his career high 88 points he registered back in 2009. Patrick Sharp also added a goal and an assist in the loss. Andrew Shaw scored the other goal for Chicago.
