The Rangers want Chris Neil to be suspended for his hit on Brian Boyle that resulted in the Ranger forward being concussed.

New York coach John Tortorella thought a precedent had been set with the Phoenix forward Raffi Torres' devastating hit on Chicago's Marian Hossa during these playoffs. Naturally, Neil thought the hit was clean. "He cuts to the middle with his head down," said Neil. "I’m a physical player out there. It was a clean hit." To this point there has been no word that NHL sheriff Brendan Shanahan will be reviewing the hit.

Tyler Seguin scored a pair of goals as the Dallas Stars defeated the Arizona Coyotes 5-3 on Thursday night.

Both of Seguin's goals came in the third period and he came within inches of adding another with the net empty late in the game. He is playing extremely well alongside Jamie Benn who had a goal and an assist in this game. Seguin now has five goals and seven points in seven games this season. He is a sure fantasy bet, as he has topped the 70-point marker in each of his last four seasons.

Erik Gudbranson will have a hearing with the Department of Player Safety for boarding Boston's Frank Vatrano on Thursday.

The hearing will take place on Friday. Vatrano had his back to Gudbranson when the Canucks defender sent him into the boards. Don't be surprised if Gudbranson is suspended for a game or two.
Oct 20 - 12:06 AM

Jeff Skinner scored a goal and added an assist as the Carolina Hurricanes topped the Calgary Flames 2-1 on Thursday night.

Skinner broke a scoreless tie in the second period off of a nice slap shot. He also assisted on Justin Williams' game-winner a minute into the third and led his team in shots with four. He now as three goals and four points in five games so far this season. He is coming off 37 goals last year, so is a quality fantasy asset.
Oct 19 - 11:43 PM

Connor McDavid picked up a pair of assists in Thursday's 2-1 overtime win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

If you haven't seen McDavid's primary assist on Patrick Maroon's first-period goal, you need to watch it right away (click link below). The Oilers captain literally made a mockery of Chicago's top pairing of Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook before finding Maroon. McDavid also helped set up Mark Letestu's power play goal in the overtime period. McDavid has now collected at least one in five of Edmonton's six games this season. This was also the second multi-point effort of the season for him. He has three goals and five assists in six games in 2017-18. He's the best player in the game.
Oct 19 - 11:36 PM

David Krejci suffered an upper-body injury in Thursday's win over the Canucks.

Krejci seemed to be in some discomfort after making contact with the boards and he was unable to finish the game. We'll consider him day-to-day for now. It's bad news for a Bruins team that was finally starting to get healthy (both Patrice Bergeron and David Backes returned tonight).
Oct 19 - 11:25 PM

Cory Schneider suffered a lower-body injury in Thursday's game against Ottawa.

Schneider was able to finish the second period, but he didn't come out for the start of the third. He was replaced by Keith Kinkaid, who went on to collect the victory tonight. Schneider is considered day-to-day at this point.
Oct 19 - 11:12 PM

Erik Karlsson registered three assists in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils.

In just his second game back from a lower-body injury, Karlsson stood out for all the right reasons. He helped set up goals by Kyle Turris (power play), Derick Brassard and Alexander Burrows (power play). Two of those three helpers were of the primary variety. Karlsson finished the game with eight shots on goal and a blocked shot in a game-high 27:08 of ice time. Don't be surprised if he finishes the season as one of the top three scoring defensemen in the league.
Oct 19 - 11:09 PM

Nico Hischier scored two goals and an assist in Thursday's 5-4 OT win over the Ottawa Senators.

Hischier's goal at the 2:30 mark of the first period was the first of his career. He then added his second marker just over two minutes later. The rookie helped set up John Moore's game-winning goal in the extra frame. The first overall pick in 2017 has two goals and seven points in seven games this season. Six of those points have come in his last three contests. He's a must-own in all fantasy formats, especially dynasty leagues.
Oct 19 - 11:03 PM

Henrik Lundqvist allowed three goals on 38 shots in Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to the New York Islanders.

King Henrik gave up two more goals in shootout. Lundqvist has now dropped four consecutive games (0-2-2). The Rangers goalie has allowed eight goals in his last two outings, which is less than ideal for his fantasy owners. He has a 1-3-2 record with a 3.15 goals-against-average and a .905 save percentage this season. His better days are behind him, so he's more of a number two goalie in most fantasy leagues.
Oct 19 - 10:54 PM

Patrice Bergeron had a goal and three assists in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks.

That's an outstanding performance from a player playing in his first game of the 2017-18 season. Bergeron picked up the primary assists on first-period goals by Anders Bjork (1-1) and David Krejci (4-1). He also helped set up Brad Marchand's goal (5-1) in the second frame. Bergeron added a power play marker of his own with just over eight minutes remaining in the game. As we mentioned before the game, Bergeron needs to be owned in most standard fantasy leagues. He's capable of hitting the 60-point mark if he remains healthy.
Oct 19 - 10:21 PM

Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped all 43 shots he faced in Thursday's 2-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Vasilevskiy has now won five straight games. What's even more impressive, is that he's given up just three goals in his last three outings. He now owns a 6-1-0 record with a 2.57 goals-against-average and a .929 save percentage this season. It's looking more and more like Vasilevskiy will be a top five goalie fantasy goalie in the league this season. He's a must-start in all fantasy leagues every time he's between the pipes for the Bolts.
