Alex Pietrangelo will dress in Game 3 on Thursday night versus the Los Angeles Kings.

The team's top defender missed Game 2's 5-2 pounding at the hands of the Kings due to a knee injury that he sustained in the series opening. "We're hoping that the whole stability part gets back to our team, where we've got the right players playing in the right situations," said coach Ken Hitchcock. "There's going to be no tie-down on allowing him to play the minutes. He's going to have to play big minutes and he knows that. We waited until the last possible minute to where could play without any reservation. He's there now." Pietrangelo is the team leader in average ice time during the postseason at 24:42 per contest and he leads the Blues' defense corps with four points, all of them assists, and a plus-3 rating.

The Anaheim Ducks have acquired Patrick Eaves in exchange for a conditional second-round draft pick in 2017.

The pick will upgrade to a first rounder should the Ducks advance to the Conference Final and Eaves plays in half their games. The 32-year-old is having a career season thus far. He's posted 21 goals and 37 points along with 60 hits in 59 games, he's also posted 11 power-play goals and 16 power-play points which should help to augment the Ducks' stagnated man advantage. Eaves carrier a $1M cap hit this season and could be an unrestricted free agent come July.

Erik Johnson will make his long-awaited return to the Avalanche's blue line on Saturday against the Sabres.

He hasn't played since Dec. 3rd due to a broken fibula, which helped turn Colorado's season sideways. Through 23 games he has posted a goal and 11 points with 44 hits and 62 blocks to his credit as well.

If GM Jim Rutherford has it his way, Justin Schultz won't be going anywhere this summer.

We have not [discussed an extension with Justin Schultz], but he will definitely be a priority for us in the offseason." A restricted free agent this summer, the 26-year-old has been resurgent with Pittsburgh. Through 74 games now he has 10 goals and 47 points along with 50 hits and 81 blocks. He's been a boon to their power play behind Kris Letang, posting a goal and 13 points this season with the man-advantage. Making just $1.4M this season, Schultz should see a nice raise for his contributions to the club.

It's that time of year again, and Drew Stafford is apparently a hot commodity.

The 31-year-old winger is a pending UFA this summer with a cap hit of $4.35M this season. He has four goals and 12 points with 35 hits in 39 games this season. What he could fetch for the Jets though will largely be dictated by the desperation of prospective acquiring clubs.

The Hurricanes assigned Bryan Bickell to AHL Charlotte on Friday, moving him ever-closer to rejoining the team.

The veteran winger will play on Saturday for the Checkers, marking his first game since Oct. 30th with the Hurricanes. This is a huge win for the multiple sclerosis community and the Bickell family, so hopefully this happy story will only continue to thrive.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Kevin Shattenkirk vetoed a trade that the Blues had in place with another team.

Shattenkirk reportedly turned down a seven-year, $42 million contract from the interested club, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie, so the trade fell apart about six weeks ago. It's believed that the team was the Tampa Bay Lightning. Sources say that the Blues will shop Shattenkirk as a rental player, which will probably hurt his value in a deal. It will be interesting to see what happens with the trade deadline quickly approaching.
