Mike Lundin has signed a one-year, $1.15 contract with the Senators.

Well that could be the end of Filip Kuba's tenure in Ottawa. Lundin will be a fifth or sixth defenseman for the Sens in 2012-13 and accordingly has no fantasy value.

Jordan Eberle continues to put a slump behind him, most emphatically doing so on Saturday with a four-point output in the Edmonton Oilers' 7-3 win against the Calgary Flames.

He generated two goals and two assists in this one, managing a +2 rating and six SOG in just 15:39 TOI. Eberle now has six points in his last four games to give him 32 on the season.

Edmonton Oilers goalie Laurent Brossoit got his first career NHL win, and it happened against the team he drafted him, as Edmonton defeated the Calgary Flames 7-3 on Saturday.

While Brossoit obviously received some hefty goal support, it was still a busy night, as he stopped 38 of 41 shots. He came into Saturday with a 0-5-1 record at this level. The 23-year-old generated respectable AHL numbers, although he actually struggled a bit this season, only managing a .908 save percentage with a 9-8-0 record for Bakersfield.
Jan 22 - 2:20 AM

John Gibson left Saturday's eventual 5-3 loss for the Anaheim Ducks vs. the Minnesota Wild when a puck caught him up high early in the first period.

The Ducks don't have much of an update yet, merely deeming it an upper-body injury. Things didn't go well for Jonathan Bernier in Gibson's absence, so keep an eye out for transactions if Gibson can't play for some time. He's been solid in 2016-17, going 19-10-8 with a .921 save percentage, 2.27 GAA and three shutouts.
Jan 22 - 2:16 AM

Jonathan Bernier probably can't expect to get much benefit of the doubt after nights like Saturday, when he had a rough go of things as the Minnesota Wild beat the Anaheim Ducks 5-3.

Bernier made it through 45:38 of game time, allowing four goals on just 20 SOG a week after he generated a 26-save shutout. Gibson allowed a goal on five SOG and may have suffered an injury against the Wild.
Jan 22 - 2:11 AM

Philipp Grubauer made 32 saves on 35 shots Saturday night to life the Capitals to a 4-3 win over the Stars.

Grubauer did not get off to a strong start as the Stars outshot the Caps 25 to 13 in the first two periods. He gave up one goal on 15 shots in the first and two on 10 shots in the second, but settled down once his teammates began to score in the third. Grubauer faced another 10 shots in that period, but was perfect and sent the game into overtime. Jay Beagle scored the game winner 19 seconds into the extra period, so Grubauer did not have to face another shot. Grubauer now has a record of 9-1-2 with a save percentage of .925.
Jan 22 - 12:37 AM

Jean-Francois Berube gave up two goals on 36 shots Saturday night as the Islanders beat the Kings 4-2.

This was only Berube’s fourth complete game of the season. He lost his previous three and was pressed into service in two other contests that were also losing efforts. Nevertheless, he entered the game with a respectable .904 save percentage, but on the strength of this win, he now has a .916 and might be worth considering the next time a player wants to roll the dice.
Jan 22 - 12:12 AM

Carey Price faced 38 shots and gave up three goals Saturday night as the Canadiens lost 3-2 to the Sabres.

Price lost four of his previous five games with an average save percentage of .859, so there is some reason to be hopeful in his .921 Saturday. He had a GAA of .291 against the Sabres, which was his second best mark in the past six games.
Jan 21 - 11:29 PM

Mike Smith faced a whopping 47 shots Saturday night and blocked all but three of them as the Coyotes beat the Lightning 5-3.

To say Smith performs well under pressure would be a bit of an understatement. This is the seventh time he has faced more than 40 shots. He has now won five of those contests and in the two games he lost, he gave up only two goals in each and took the game to overtime.
Jan 21 - 11:20 PM

Radim Vrbata had a piece of four goals as the Coyotes beat the Lightning 5-3 Saturday night.

Vrbata scored a goal at the 10:19 mark of the first. He had three assists to Tobias Rieder, Michael Stone, and Martin Hanzal. With four points, he lifted his total to 33 and pads his lead over Oliver Ekman-Larsson who had only one assist Saturday night for a total of 25 points for the season.
Jan 21 - 10:57 PM

Tyler Bozak scored his 12th goal of the season at the 7:31 mark of the second as the Maple Leafs lost 3-2 to the Senators.

Bozak has been hot since the calendar turned to 2017. Five of his 12 goals this season have come in the last seven games. His streak kicked off with one goal and an assist again the Devils January 6. Bozak closed out the season strong as well with a goal December 29 against the Lightning.
Jan 21 - 10:29 PM

Keith Kinkaid faced 36 shots and let only one get past him as the Devils beat the Flyers 4-1 Saturday night.

Kinkaid has been an all-or-nothing goalie in recent games. His last six efforts have showcased three wins with save percentages greater than .964—including Saturday night’s .972 against Philly. His other three games ended with losses and save percentages below the .900 mark.
