If the 2012-13 season is delayed by a lockout then Taylor Hall expects to use that time to continue to recover from his surgically repaired shoulder, but should a potential work stoppage extend into months then he will probably head overseas.

"With my shoulder situation it's going to take me a little more time to figure out what I want to do," he said. "A three-week delay in the season isn't going to hurt me as much as it hurts other guys, so I'll probably be one of the last guys to pick where I want to play. But if it lasts long I'm going to have to get into a lineup and get playing hockey, because when the season does start you want to be ready for it." He said he isn't interested in playing in the KHL and that Switzerland may be his preferred choice if he has to play in Europe.

Philipp Grubauer is expected to start on Saturday.

Braden Holtby will start Friday night, but he won't be asked to play two days in a row. Grubauer has a 0-1-1 record, 5.85 GAA, and .844 save percentage in two contests in 2017-18.

Erik Gudbranson will serve a one-game suspension for boarding Boston's Frank Vatrano.

That will keep Gudbranson out of Friday's game, but he'll be eligible to return on Sunday. It probably helped Gudbranson's case that he hadn't previously been fined or suspended and thus was not a repeat offender.

Keith Kinkaid will play between the pipes Friday night.

That was the plan anyways, but it was made a more obvious decision when Cory Schneider suffered a lower-body injury on Thursday. With Schneider unavailable, Scott Wedgewood will serve as Kinkaid's backup.

Cory Schneider (lower body) has been placed on the injured reserve list.

Schneider couldn't complete Thursday's game due to the injury. Keep in mind that the Devils have a week off after Friday's contest, so he can be activated after missing just one game. In the meantime, Scott Wedgewood is with the Devils.

Zack Smith (upper body) will be sidelines for a minimum of one week.

Smith sustained the injury during Thursday's game against New Jersey. He's off to a good start with five assists in seven games this season, making the timing of his injury particularly unfortunate.
Oct 20 - 2:50 PM

Adam McQuaid suffered a broken right fibula during Thursday's game.

McQuaid has surgery scheduled for Monday to address the injury. He will be sidelined for about eight weeks as a result, which puts his projected return in the middle of December. He has an assist in six games this season.

Chad Johnson will get the nod Friday night.

Johnson is appearing in his third straight game. He surrendered five goals on 31 shots against Vegas on Tuesday, so this is an opportunity for him to bounce back.
Oct 20 - 2:37 PM

Thomas Greiss will be the Islanders' starter on Saturday.

Greiss is drawing into the lineup after getting two games off. He has a 1-1-1 record, 3.08 GAA, and .922 save percentage in three contests this season.
Oct 20 - 1:54 PM

Petr Mrazek is expected to start on Friday against Washington.

Mrazek will have his work cut out for him against that strong offensive club, but for what it's worth he does have a career 2.18 GAA and .925 save percentage in six games versus Washington. He has a 2.98 GAA and .900 save percentage in three contests this season.
Oct 20 - 12:39 PM

Tyler Seguin scored a pair of goals as the Dallas Stars defeated the Arizona Coyotes 5-3 on Thursday night.

Both of Seguin's goals came in the third period and he came within inches of adding another with the net empty late in the game. He is playing extremely well alongside Jamie Benn who had a goal and an assist in this game. Seguin now has five goals and seven points in seven games this season. He is a sure fantasy bet, as he has topped the 70-point marker in each of his last four seasons.
Oct 20 - 12:41 AM

Erik Gudbranson will have a hearing with the Department of Player Safety for boarding Boston's Frank Vatrano on Thursday.

The hearing will take place on Friday. Vatrano had his back to Gudbranson when the Canucks defender sent him into the boards. Don't be surprised if Gudbranson is suspended for a game or two.
