Kimmo Timonen said on Wednesday that he will probably stay in the United States even if there's a lockout.

Philadelphia teammate Daniel Briere said the same thing because they both have three school-aged children in the Philadelphia area and moving overseas for potentially a month or two isn't worth the hassle. Timonen is also coming off back surgery and although he has resumed skating, his 37-year-old body could probably use the rest. However, the veteran defenseman is a partial owner of his hometown team, KalPa, in the SM-liiga and his brother, Jussi, plays there as well, so don't be shocked if he has a change of heart. Flyers winger Scott Hartnell owns five percent of the team and playing there could be a logical option for him.

Claude Giroux has been piling up shots on goal this season.

He is currently tied with Alex Ovechkin for the league lead with a total of 97 in 21 games. That puts him on pace to top 375 shots, which is significantly higher than his previous best of 242 during the 2011-12 campaign. "It just happens," he said. "I've got a lot of shots. I saw it last week [and said], 'Wow, I have a lot of shots.' The goals are hopefully going to come more. But when you shoot the puck good things are going to happen." Giroux has seven goals and 19 assists.

Al Montoya will be between the pipes on Friday for Florida.

Dan Ellis has been called up from the minors to back him up, while Roberto Luongo is out with an upper-body injury. Luongo isn't expected to be out for very long.
Nov 27 - 4:30 PM

Viktor Fasth will get the nod for Edmonton on Thursday against Nashville.

Ben Scrivens hasn't won a game since Oct. 27 and he's allowed 10 goals in his past two outings. He may play in Friday's contest with St. Louis. Fasth started Tuesday's loss to Dallas, but he played a strong game. He has also struggled mightily this campaign.

Adam Lowry has been banned for one game for a boarding infraction on Buffalo forward Patrick Kaleta.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night and it got Lowry tossed from the game. He received a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding. Lowry won't be in the lineup for Friday's game at Boston because of the suspension. The Jets don't play again until next Wednesday versus Edmonton.

Ryan Garbutt has been suspended for two games for kneeing Edmonton's Taylor Hall.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night and it earned Garbutt a minor penalty for tripping in the contest. He will be eligible to return on Dec. 2 versus Toronto.
Nov 27 - 2:13 PM

Justin Schultz will be a healthy scratch Thursday night versus Nashville.

"Justin has struggled a little bit as of late, and we felt it was best to hit the reset button," said coach Dallas Eakins. Schultz has recorded four assists in his past six games, but he also has a minus-4 rating during that time and his ice time dropped to 15:13 against Dallas on Tuesday. He made a bad line change that led to a goal by Tyler Seguin in the contest.
Nov 27 - 2:09 PM

Mike Fisher will make his 2014-15 debut on Thursday night after recovering from an Achilles injury.

He suffered a ruptured Achilles during off-season training, so he's bound to be rusty once his adrenaline wears down. Fisher had 20 goals and 49 points in 75 games with the Predators last year. He's slated to play with Derey Roy and Olli Jokinen because Matt Cullen is injured.
Nov 27 - 1:44 PM

Roberto Luongo's upper-body injury is reportedly not serious.

That's very good new for the Panthers and for fantasy owners. Luongo has been excellent this season in Florida, while sporting a .927 save percentage and a 2.33 goals-against average. He picked up his seventh win of the year on Wednesday night even though he left in the second period due to injury. He isn't expected to miss much time.
Nov 27 - 10:37 AM

Adam Lowry will have a hearing with the Department of Player Safety on Thursday afternoon for an incident Wednesday against the Buffalo Sabres.

Lowry was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta in the second period.

Sidney Crosby has reached the 800-point milestone.

Crosby accomplished that feat in just 571 contests. Only five players in the history of the NHL got to that milestone faster, with Wayne Gretzky naturally leading the pack at 352 games. Crosby's next big milestone will be 300 goals, which he's just 17 shy of reaching.

Karri Ramo stopped all 32 shots fired his way on Wednesday in the Flames 2-0 win over San Jose.

It was an impressive performance from the whole team as the Flames earned a win in the second night of a back-to-back situation on the road against a rested Sharks side. Ramo has now earned wins in three straight starts and carries a 5-2-1 record to go with a 2.54 GGA and .911 save percentage into this next start which is probably going to come sooner rather than later. Ramo continues to earn starts despite the good play of Jonas Hiller.
