Eakin opened the scoring at the 2:45 mark of the second period and he extended the Stars' lead to 3-1 early in the third. The 23-year-old also had three shots and a plus-1 rating in 17:15 of ice time. Eakin now has 14 goals and 28 points in 59 games this season. Jason Spezza and Antoine Roussel also scored for the Stars.

Tyson Barrie scored a goal and two assists in Friday's 5-4 shootout win over Dallas.

Barrie was a plus-3 in just under 19 minutes of action. He also had two shots, two penalty minutes and two hits in the game. The three-point effort ties a career-high for him. Barrie has 10 goals and 39 points in 60 games this season. The 39 points are also a new career-high for the 23-year-old defenseman. Jarome Iginla, Nate Guenin and Gabriel Landeskog also scored for the Avs.
Feb 27 - 11:27 PM

Ben Bishop stopped all 28 shots he faced in Friday's 4-0 win over Chicago.

Bishop has now won four consecutive starts dating back to February 15th. The 28-year-old hasn't allowed more than two goals in any of those four games. His record improves to 31-10-3 and he has a 2.36 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage this season. He will be one of the better fantasy goaltenders down the stretch.
Feb 27 - 10:50 PM

Steve Stamkos scored two goals in Friday's 4-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

The 25-year-old has now scored six goals and one assist in his last seven games. Stamkos is having another fine offensive season but he is under a point-per-game for the first time since his rookie season in 2008-09. He has 34 goals and 57 points in 63 games this season. He is on pace to score 44 goals in 2014-15. Brian Boyle and Ryan Callahan also scored for the Lightning.
Feb 27 - 10:37 PM

Anton Khudobin stopped 28 shots in Friday's 3-0 win over Washington.

The loss ends Khudobin's four-game winless streak. He hadn't won a game since January 27th. The 28-year-old has mostly served as Cam Ward's backup this season. His record improves to 7-11-3 on the season and he has a 2.60 goals-against-average and a .906 save percentage in 2014-15. This was Khudobin's first shutout of the season. He has named the game's first star for his effort.
Feb 27 - 10:29 PM

Jeff Skinner scored a goal in Carolina's 3-0 win over Washington.

The Hurricanes have consistently been one of the Eastern Conference's worst teams this season, so the fact that they were able to blank the Capitals is a little surprising. Carolina scored a goal in each of the three periods on Friday. Skinner has now scored a goal in each of his last three games. The 22-year-old has 16 goals and 25 points in 55 games this season. He was named the second star of the game. Carolina has now won three of their last four contests.
Feb 27 - 10:17 PM

Niklas Svedberg stopped 29 of 31 shots in Friday's 3-2 overtime win over New Jersey.

The Bruins haven't had much faith in their backup goaltenders this season but Tuukka Rask was in desperate need of a night off. The Bruins placed their trust in Svedberg and he delivered on Friday night. Svedberg didn't give up a goal in the first two periods but he was beaten twice in the final frame. The 25-year-old's record improves to 6-5-0 and he has a 2.39 goals-against-average and a .917 save percentage this season.
Feb 27 - 10:07 PM

Mark Giordano is taking warm-ups on Long Island on Friday night, indicating that he may play against the Islanders.

Well, this is a stunning turn of events if there ever was one. Players don't tend to take warm-ups if they're not intending to play, so take this as a positive sign. Giordano leads all defenders with 48 points and is a must-play in all formats.
Feb 27 - 6:35 PM

Look for Frederik Andersen (neck) to serve as Anaheim's backup goaltender on Friday.

The Ducks have sent Jason LaBarbera to the minors, which they presumably wouldn't have done unless Andersen was ready to dress. John Gibson has already been tapped to serve as the starter on Friday, but Andersen will probably play between the pipes on Sunday.
Feb 27 - 12:57 PM

Tuukka Rask is dealing with an illness.

Rask stayed in his hotel room Friday morning as a result. At this time it's not clear if he'll be available for Friday's game against New Jersey.
Feb 27 - 12:26 PM

Stephane Veilleux has been placed on waivers by the Minnesota Wild.

Veilleux has a goal and an assist in 12 games this season. The 33-year-old is a veteran of 506 NHL contests. He only comes with a $575,000 annual cap hit, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him claimed.
