Henrik Zetterberg has agreed to play for Zug of the Swiss Elite League.

It was thought that Zetterberg would return to his native Sweden to play during the lockout, but instead will join new Detroit teammate Damien Brunner on the Swiss side. Zetterberg had only 69 points in 2011-12 after an 80 point campaign in 2010-11.

Matt Duchene found the back of the net in Wednesday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Duchene's goal at the 12:01 mark of the second period tied the game two. The Sens forward also converted on his shootout attempt, but Chicago's Nick Schmaltz eventually won the game in the seventh round of the shootout. Darcy Kuemper signed a two-year, $3.7 million extension with the Arizona Coyotes.

That works out to an AAV of $1.85 million. The Coyotes just acquired Kuemper from the Los Angeles Kings. He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, but the extension was clearly part of the deal. Kuemper has a 10-1-3 record with a 2.10 goals-against-average and a .932 save percentage this season. He'll likely get a lot more starts now that he's in Arizona, but he won't be able to win as many games.

The Arizona Coyotes have acquired Darcy Kuemper from the Los Angeles Kings.

The Kings are reportedly getting forward Tobias Reider and goalie Scott Wedgewood in the deal. Kuemper is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, but Coyotes beat reporter Craig Morgan is reporting that Arizona has inked him to an extension. Kuemper has been one of the better backups in the league this year, as he has a 10-1-3 record with a 2.10 goals-against-average and a .932 save percentage this season.

Cory Schneider (groin) took part in a lightly populated optional practice on Wednesday.

Schneider was one of just eight players taking part, but the fact that he was practicing under any circumstances is a step forward for him. He was upbeat after going through the practice. "Pretty far along I'd say, compared to where I was a couple weeks ago," Schneider said of his recovery. "Today was a good workout, a lot of volume, and putting myself in some more realistic situations and positions, just trying to get a feel for where I'm at, then just keep ramping it up." Schneider isn't expected to return on Thursday or Saturday, but he might be back next week.
