Zdeno Chara scored a goal in HC Lev's 4-2 loss at the hands of Bars Kazan in KHL action Saturday.

It was Chara's first point in three KHL contests. Former NHLer Niko Kapanen scored the winning goal for Kazan.

Ondrej Palat scored his first career NHL playoff goal in his return to the lineup on Sunday.

He missed Game 2 with an upper-body injury. Palat's power-play marker in the second tied the game at 1-1, but the Canadiens ended up winning the match by a score of 3-2. Due to Steve Stamkos' injury and Martin St. Louis' trade to New York, Palat finished as Tampa Bay's leading scorer during the regular season.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have been giving the Penguins fits when Pittsburgh has been on the power play in the first two games of the series.

The Penguins have only 13 shots on goal in 11 power play chances while the Blue Jackets have put four on net while shorthanded. The Penguins have scored three times with the man-advantage but the Blue Jackets have scored twice shorthanded. Game 3 is in Columbus on Monday.
Apr 21 - 8:46 AM

Brian Gibbons is day-to-day with his undisclosed injury.

The Penguins are keeping quiet about the injury Gibbons suffered in the first period after he potted a couple of goals. Consider him questionable for Game 3 at this time.
Apr 21 - 8:42 AM

Fedor Tyutin (undisclosed) is unlikely to play in Game 3 Monday.

Tyutin was injured during the first period on Saturday and never returned. Look for either Nick Schultz or Dalton Prout to take his place in the lineup.
Apr 21 - 7:01 AM

Nick Foligno (knee) has been cleared to play in Game 3.

Foligno was cleared after Game 2 on Saturday and will likely play alongside R.J. Umberger and Artem Anisimov as the series against the Penguins moves to Columbus Monday. He had 18 goals, 39 points and 210 hits this season so his presence in the lineup will provide a boost to the Blue Jackets.

Incredibly, Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick has allowed 12 goals in two games against the San Jose Sharks in this postseason.

Recognized by many as the premier goalie in the NHL, Quick gave up seven goals in the Kings' 7-3 loss to the Sharks in San Jose Sunday night, though the rout certainly wasn't all his fault. The Sharks were able to fire 40 shots on Quick. On Thursday, in Game 1 of this first-round series, Quick allowed five goals on 28 shots before being pulled after two periods in what turned out to be a 6-3 loss in San Jose. The Kings are now down 2-0 in this best-of-seven series. And Quick -- brace yourself -- has a goals-against average in the postseason of .720. His save percentage is .824. The roof caved in, er, quickly on the Kings Sunday. They were ahead 2-0 after the first period before surrendering three goals in the second and four goals in the third.

Joe Pavelski registered a goal and had two assists in the San Jose Sharks' 7-2 slaughter of the visiting Los Angeles Kings in playoff competition Sunday night.

The high-scoring left winger was one of seven different goal scorers for San Jose in a win that put the Sharks ahead 2-0 in their first-round, best-of-seven playoff series against the Kings. Remarkably, the Kings were ahead 2-0 in Sunday's game after the first period. The other goals were produced by Joe Thornton, Raffi Torres, Patrick Marleau, Logan Couture, Mike Brown and Justin Braun. Dan Boyle, Andrew Desjardins and Matthew Nieto each had two assists for the Sharks. Marleau and Couture also had assists for two-point nights.
Apr 21 - 12:52 AM

Boston Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask put forth a strong effort as his team beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 in Game 2 on Sunday, tying the series 1-1.

Rask stopped 34 out of 35 shots to even the series. Rask as only allowed one goal in three straight starts stretching back to one regular season appearance. He's given little reason for people to believe he's anything but a legitimate starter - if not star - in the NHL.

The NHL decided to suspend Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook three games for his charging hit on St. Louis Blues forward David Backes from Game 2.

With Chicago down 2-0 in the series, Seabrook may not appear in another Blackhawks game this season if things go poorly for them. Seabrook has been fantastic lately, with four points in two games and also a great regular season (seven goals, 41 points, +23, 171 hits and 142 blocked shots).
Apr 20 - 2:41 PM

Anders Lindback will start on Sunday after being pulled in Friday's game.

Lindback isn't an ideal playoff starter, but Tampa Bay doesn't have a lot of options with Ben Bishop hurt. The alternative to Lindback would have been Kristers Gudlevskis, who had just one game worth of NHL experience before he replaced Lindback late in Game 2.
Apr 20 - 11:08 AM

Ray Emery will be between the pipes on Sunday.

Emery played in Game 1 as he allowed four goals on 36 shots in a 4-1 loss to the Rangers. With starter Steve Mason still unable to go due to an upper body injury, Emery will try to square the series at one apiece. Teammate Wayne Simmonds thought that Emery was terrific in Game 1 as he made numerous great saves.
