Montreal prospect Blake Geoffrion will be out of action indefinitely due to a head and upper body injury sustained in Friday night's AHL contest between Hamilton and Syracuse.

He was clipped in the head by a skate and had to be taken to hospital where surgery was performed. The good news is that it appears Geoffrion will be OK. He will just not be playing hockey in the near future. Geoffrion is one of the Bulldogs' leading scorers with six points in 10 games.

Jonathan Bernier will be between the pipes for Monday's game against the Arizona Coyotes.

Even though John Gibson pitched a 24-save shutout against the Kings last night, the Ducks will still opt to give him the night off tonight. Bernier has an 8-4-2 record with a 2.80 goals-against-average and a .906 save percentage.

Avalanche defenseman Nikita Zadorov will miss the remainder of the season because of an ankle injury.

The season of misery just keeps on going for Colorado. Not only have they been horrible on the ice, but they can't seem to catch any breaks either. The injury occurred during Monday's practice after Zadorov got tangled up with Mikko Rantanen. Zadorov was averaging 19:02 of ice time per game. He had no goals, 10 assists and a minus-20 rating in 56 games.

Jacob Trouba has received a two-game suspension for his illegal hit to the head of Ottawa's Mark Stone.

Winnipeg has its bye week coming up, so Trouba will be eligible to return on March 3. Stone was injured on the play while Trouba received a two-minute minor at the time of the incident. Trouba has five goals and 24 points in 47 contests in 2016-17.

The Calgary Flames have acquired Michael Stone from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for a 2017 third-round pick and a conditional 2018 fifth-round selection.

The Coyotes will retain 50% of Stone's remaining salary/cap hit, which is $4 million annually for the 2016-17 campaign. Stone has a goal and nine points in 45 games this season. He's played a big role with Arizona, logging over 20 minutes per game in each of the last three seasons. He's eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this season.

John Gibson made 24 saves on Sunday night and the Ducks needed every one of them to edge the Kings 1-0.

Gibson now has two shutouts in his last three games — against two quality opponents in L.A. and Minnesota. The 23-year-old improves to 23-15-8 this season with a 2.27 goals against average and .922 save percentage. Gibson is undoubtedly thriving in his first full year as the Ducks' No. 1 goaltender.

Juuse Saros made 35 saves and the Nashville Predators took down Columbus 4-3 on Sunday night.

It took a complete team effort from the Predators to earn the two points. Four different Predators found the net, James Neal and P.K. Subban has two helpers each and Saros came through with his first win in a month. The 21-year-old Finn is now 6-5-2 this season with a 2.17 goals against average and .931 save percentage.

Curtis McElhinney faced 37 shots and stopped every one of them in Toronto's 4-0 victory over Carolina on Sunday evening.

Making his fifth start for the Maple Leafs since being claimed off waivers last month, McElhinney was a significant part of the victory for his fifth career shutout. The 33-year-old improves to 5-4-2 this season with a .931 save percentage and 2.24 goals against average.

The sensational defender assisted on both of Ottawa's tallies, giving him a goal and seven points during the streak including back-to-back two-assist efforts. He's now up to 42 assists and 51 points in 57 games this season.
