Rick Nash wasn't in the lineup for Davos on Tuesday reportedly because of a sore groin.

It isn't believed to be serious though and his absence was more of a precautionary measure. Nash has notched 10 goals and six assists in 15 games in Switzerland's top league this year.

The NHLPA has rejected an NHL proposal where the league would agree to participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics in exchange for a three-year extension to the CBA.

NHLPA executive director Don Fehr still hopes to work out a deal that would allow the players to participate in the Olympics, but not on those terms. If the players had agreed to the proposal, then the existing CBA would have been extended to 2025. Part of the NHL's hesitation to participate in the Olympics stemmed from the idea that the IIHF and IOC wouldn't cover costs of insurance, accommodation, and travel that could run up to $10 million. However, IIHF president Rene Fasel recently suggested that those costs could be covered for the NHL. Still, Olympic participate means suspending the NHL temporarily during the heart of the season and putting star players at risk of injury outside of NHL games. NHL players have participated in the last five Olympics though.

The apples snapped a two game pointless streak for the all-star. He has had a slow start to the season with just nine points in 19 games. He started slow last season too though and really came on in the second half. We would bet for more of the same as he is still in the prime of his career. Get him in your lineups.
