Jordan Eberle has been presented with the AHL player of the month award for his efforts in November.

He led all AHL skaters in scoring with 10 goals, 21 points and a plus-13 rating in 13 outings. Eberle's outstanding month has helped him climb up the league's point leaderboard to second with 27 over 20 matches. The 22-year-old winger exploded offensively in Edmonton last season, with 34 goals and 76 points in 78 contests, and he's heating up in the minors now after a sluggish start.

Mike Smith was in goal for the 3-2 shootout loss of the Arizona Coyotes to the Columbus Blue Jackets Saturday night.

Smith was stellar for most of the night with a save percentage of .967, but he let the first two shootout goals slip past him in the loss. If he looked a little tired, he had every right to be as he faced 60 shots and blocked 58 of them. Each week someone has to lose, but Smith was hardly a bad value in this contest.

Auston Matthews tied Saturday's game versus the Vancouver Canucks at the 1:56 mark of the third period before eventually losing in a shootout by a score of 3-2.

This was Matthews’ 11th goal of the season. Notably, the other scorer for the Leafs also recorded his 11th when James van Riemsdyk sunk a puck at the 11:30 mark of the second. The two shooters are tied at the top of the Leafs' leaderboard in terms of goals.

Alex Pietrangelo had an assist on both St Louis Blues goals as they lost a 3-2 decision in overtime to the Winnipeg Jets Saturday night.

Pietrangelo’s assists were to Alexander Steen at the 5:16 minute mark and Dmitrij Jaskin’s at 7:26. This lifts him to nine assists for the season and 14 points—decent marks for a defenseman. Pietrangelo has scored points in four of his last five games.

Tyler Seguin scored a goal and an assist as the Dallas Stars beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-0 on Saturday.

The assists were mostly there for Seguin lately, but he had been struggling a bit - at least by his terms - to find the net. Now he has a two-game goal streak and a four-game point streak (2G, 3A). Seguin has nine goals and 27 points in 26 games so far in 2016-17.
Dec 3 - 11:45 PM

Ben Bishop faced 35 shots and stopped all but one of them as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Washington Capitals 2-1 Saturday night.

Bishop needed an outing like this. He has been on a freefall in recent events with a four-game losing streak that witnessed a save percentage of no more than .900. His season mark plummeted to .902, which probably meant he was not on very many radar screens. Blocking 34 of 35 shots Saturday night gave him a .971, however, and will undoubtedly raise his salary cap in coming contests.
Dec 3 - 11:44 PM

For the first time during a truly miserable 2016-17 season, Kari Lehtonen generated a shutout.

Lehtonen had a pretty light Saturday, as the Dallas Stars limited the Colorado Avalanche to 23 SOG in a 3-0 win. Lehtonen came into this game on a three-game losing streak with a putrid .885 save percentage, so this could be a huge confidence-builder for the goalie and his team.
Dec 3 - 11:41 PM

Alexander Wennberg scored the game-tying goal Saturday night late in the third to force the Columbus Blue Jackets into overtime with the Arizona Coyotes, where they won a 3-2 decision in the shootout.

Wennberg has scored goals in every other contest since being part of the 5-3 decision over the Tampa Bay Lightning on November 25th. This was his sixth goal of the season and his 21st point. Cam Atkinson and Sam Gagner recorded shootout goals for the victory.
Dec 3 - 11:25 PM

Mike Condon blocked all 24 shots aimed at him Saturday night as the Ottawa Senators beat the Florida Panthers 2-0.

Even though he did not face very many shots, it is notable that this is Condon’s second shutout in six games with the Senators. Condon has a 3-1-1 record with Ottawa along with a 1.76 GAA and a .942 save percentage.
Dec 3 - 10:52 PM

Sam Reinhart lifted his career-best point streak up to four games with an assist during Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Bruins.

The youngster now has two goals and four points during the streak. He has five goals and 14 points in 24 games this season. He just may be as the kid's say, "for real."
Dec 3 - 7:55 PM

Ivan Provorov only needed one shift to put the Flyers past the Blackhawks on Saturday.

The 19-year-old phenom scored twice in 31 seconds early in the second period to put the Flyers up 2-1, and they'd go on to win 3-1. Provorov is now up to three goals and 11 points in 26 games this season.
Dec 3 - 6:55 PM

Mark Scheifele will be held out of Saturday's match with the Blues due to a lower-body injury.

He is questionable to play on Sunday as well. Alexander Burmistrov will replace him in the lineup. Consider Scheifele day-to-day for now.
