Team Sweden coach Roger Ronnberg is upset with the Ottawa Senators for not making Mika Zibanejad available to play in the 2013 World Junior Championship.

"It is sad that Europeans always have to be on our backs for them over there and that they can dictate and decide about these tournaments," said Ronnberg. "They (North Americans) are pretty stubborn. It's a game of power against Europe, this." The Swedish Ice Hockey Federation is expected to examine its options to possibly overturn the Senators' decision. Zibanejad is currently playing with Binghamton, where he has notched one goal and six assists in 16 minor-league games.

Ben Bishop (lower body) practiced with his teammates on Monday.

He is listed as "doubtful to questionable" to return from a lower-body injury on Tuesday night, according to coach Jon Cooper. "He's just getting back," Cooper said. "He, even by his own accounts, is not 100 percent. If that's going to leave a little bit of doubt, then we'll have to see where he's at tomorrow." Bishop liked how he felt after the session and said he could play Tuesday, but there is no urgency being displayed by the Lightning with the Christmas break just around the corner and Andrei Vasilevskiy playing well.
Dec 22 - 5:40 PM

Stephen Weiss (shoulder) feels ready to return after he fully participated in Monday's practice.

He's hoping to be put in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Buffalo. "I'm real excited, obviously. I didn't want to miss that many games, but that's the way it goes with those types of injuries," said Weiss, who has sat out four contests. "It's been tough to watch. I'm looking forward to get into a game before the couple days off (for the holiday break)." The Red Wings have six goals in their past six games and Weiss' return should help. He has four goals and 10 points in 11 appearances this year.
Dec 22 - 5:03 PM

Michael Cammalleri (groin) took part in Monday's practice.

He skated alongside Scott Gomez and Jaromir Jagr on the top line during the session and could be ready to play on Tuesday against Carolina. Cammalleri has missed New Jersey's last four games with a groin pull.

Steve Downie is being examined for the mumps.

The Penguins play in Florida on Monday night against the Panthers, but Downie has returned to Pittsburgh to undergo testing along with teammates Brandon Sutter and Thomas Greiss. Downie leads the league with 135 penalty minutes and he's contributed 17 points in 32 games. Look elsewhere for your minutes in the sin bin for the time being.

Rob Zepp made 25 saves on 28 shots in Philadelphia's 4-3 overtime win over Winnipeg.

The win was the first of his NHL career. Zepp made a big save on Jets' forward Mark Scheifele with the Flyers' trailing 3-1 in the second period. Philadelphia eventually scored three unanswered goals in the third period and overtime to win the game. Zepp is an interesting story. The 33-year-old is a nine-year veteran in Europe (Finland and Germany) but had never played a game at the NHL level before tonight. He will probably serve as Ray Emery's backup while Steve Mason (back) is out.

Jakub Voracek scored two goals in Philadelphia's 4-3 overtime win over Winnipeg

Voracek opened the scoring in the first period and scored the overtime winner. The 25-year-old's dream season continues. No one could have seen this kind of offensive production coming from Voracek this season. He has 14 goals and 44 points in 33 games this season. Mark Streit and Vincent Lecavalier also scored for the Flyers.
Dec 21 - 11:44 PM

Dougie Hamilton scored two goals and an assist in Boston's 4-3 overtime win over Buffalo.

Hamilton opened the scoring on the power play in the first period, and he tied the game on the man advantage in the final two minutes of the game. The points end Hamilton's personal five game pointless streak. Hamilton has seven goals and 20 points in 33 games this season. Loui Eriksson scored the overtime winner for Boston.
Dec 21 - 10:15 PM

Antti Raanta made 31 saves in Sunday's 4-0 win over Toronto.

Raanta has now won five consecutive starts. The 25-year-old has started three of Chicago's last four games but that will change with Corey Crawford back in the fold for the Hawks. Raanta is 6-2-0 with a 1.76 goals-against-average and a .945 save percentage.
Dec 21 - 10:02 PM

Patrick Kane scored a goal and added two assists in Chicago's 4-0 win over Toronto.

Kane picked up the primary assists on both of Chicago's first period goals (Rundblad, Versteeg). His power play goal in the third period made it 3-0 for the Hawks. The 26-year-old has now picked up at least a point in six consecutive games (He has 10 points in those six games). Kane has 16 goals and 36 points in 34 games this season.
Dec 21 - 9:40 PM

Calvin Pickard made 34 saves in Colorado's 2-1 shootout win over Detroit.

Pickard was named the game's first star for his effort. He was the main reason Colorado was able to pick up two points in this game. The 22-year-old's record improves to 6-5-2 on the season. He has a 2.06 goals-against-average and a .939 save percentage. The Avs will have an interesting decision to make when Semyon Varlamov returns from injury.
Dec 21 - 9:18 PM

Taylor Hall scored two goals in Edmonton's 6-5 shootout loss to Dallas.

Hall also added an assist on Teddy Purcell's second period goal. The Oilers went up 5-2 in the second frame but they suffered a monumental collapse in the second half of the game. Dallas scored three unanswered goals to send the game to overtime. The goals ended an 11-game goalless streak for Hall. Mark Arcobello also scored a pair of goals for the Oilers.
