Braden Holtby received the nod for the AHL Goaltender of the Month for December on Tuesday.

He was remarkable between the pipes for Hershey in 10 appearances, while posting three shutouts with a 1.69 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage. He allowed just one goal or fewer in six of his 10 starts in December. His 5-4-1 record is disappointing considering how well he played though.

Taylor Hall rescued the Devils on Sunday with the overtime winner in a 3-2 win over Carolina.

The Hurricanes tied up the game at 2-2 late in the third period, but Hall grabbed the extra point for New Jersey with his overtime heroics. The 26-year-old has been unstoppable lately, with at least one point in each of his last 18 games. Hall is riding an 11-game point streak since his return from a thumb injury. He is up to 24 goals and 62 points in 54 games this season.

Tomas Hertl (undisclosed) won't play Sunday night.

Hertl did not suit up in Thursday's game against Vancouver either. The good news is that he will be able to travel with the team on their upcoming road trip.

Connor McDavid's hat trick propelled Edmonton over Colorado by a score of 4-2 on Sunday.

McDavid concluded the contest with five shots and a plus-3 rating. He has 26 goals and 69 points in 58 games this season. Leon Draisaitl assisted on two of McDavid's three goals on Sunday.

This will be Green's second straight game on the sidelines due to an upper-body injury. He ranks fourth on the Red Wings with 29 points (six goals, 23 assists) in 56 games this season.

Tristan Jarry will be in goal Sunday night against Columbus.

Jarry will get to play in the second half of Pittsburgh's back-to-back situation after Matt Murray posted a 5-3 win over Toronto on Saturday. This will be Jarry's first NHL start since Jan. 17 when he lost he allowed four goals on 32 shots in a loss to Anaheim. He has a 9-4-2 record this season with a 2.44 GAA and .919 save percentage in 18 appearances.

Schultz missed Saturday's game against Toronto because he wasn't feeling well and he didn't travel with the team to Columbus. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Claude Giroux had a goal and two assists in Sunday afternoon's 7-4 win over the New York Rangers.

Giroux got his 20th goal of the season in the third period. It was also the 200th marker of his NHL career. Giroux has amassed 69 points in 59 matches this season after he had 58 points through 82 contests in 2016-17.

Alex Lyon stopped 25 of 26 shots in a 7-4 win over the New York Rangers on Sunday in matinee action.

Lyon entered the match for the start of the second period after Michal Neuvirth suffered a lower-body injury and he earned his first NHL victory. The 25-year-old netminder has appeared in four games for the Flyers this season and he has made just two starts. If Neuvirth remains on the sidelines then Lyon could be in goal again Tuesday versus Montreal because Brian Elliott is out for a while following core muscle surgery.

Will Butcher will be a healthy scratch for the first time this season on Sunday against Carolina.

Butcher logged 13:49 of ice time in Saturday's win over Tampa Bay. The rookie blueliner has two goals and 30 points in 58 games this season. Mirco Mueller will play instead.

Miles Wood has been suspended two games for boarding Tampa Bay's Vladislav Namestnikov.

The incident occurred on Saturday night and it landed Wood two minutes in the penalty box. He also got another two minutes for roughing after Lightning defender Andrej Sustr came to his teammate's defense. Wood won't be eligible to return until Thursday, Feb. 22 against Minnesota.

Michal Neuvirth has exited Sunday afternoon's game against the Rangers because of a lower-body injury.

The Flyers already announced that Neuvirth will not return. He wasn't on the bench at the start of the second period after he allowed three goals on 14 shots in 20 minutes of action. Neuvirth was going to see plenty of action with Brian Elliott sidelined following core muscle surgery. This will likely put Philadelphia in the market for a goaltender.
