Morgan Rielly has attracted the attention of Toronto coach Randy Carlyle at training camp.

"He's got great vision on the ice," said Carlyle. "He can pass and move the puck. He's got NHL offensive skills. He's not intimidated. He's been a kid who has been able to absorb a lot in a short period of time and he's played in pressure situations. We're looking at playing him to his strengths." He saw some power-play time alongside Dion Phaneuf on Monday. With Jake Gardiner nursing concussion-like symptoms, Rielly could start the year with Toronto. The Leafs might decide to keep him around for a five-game tryout to open the year if he continues to impress.
