Ben Bishop will spend Monday's game in the press box.

That means Bishop won't dress as the starter or even the backup in either of Ottawa's first two contests. The Senators made the decision to start the season with Craig Anderson, Robin Lehner, and Bishop. It looks like Lehner is the preferred backup and Bishop might just be on the roster because he has a one-way contract. Ottawa might end up trading Bishop in the near future, but if they don't get an offer they like, Lehner might be the one that's sent down due to Bishop's one-way deal.

It's been revealed that Jeremy Morin was dealing with an accelerated heart rate during Tuesday's game and was hospitalized as a result.

Columbus initially reported that he was out indefinitely due to an upper-body injury. "His resting heart rate wasn't going down," Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said. "It's nothing serious. I'm not sure he's if he's going to need further tests or not, but everything was fine. His heart rate calmed while he was being tested at the hospital." Kekalainen thinks Morin will be allowed to leave the hospital before the end of the day.

Sidney Crosby (lower body) will participate in Wednesday's game.

Crosby wasn't eligible to play on Tuesday after skipping the All-Star Game due to his ailment. With Crosby back in the lineup, Brandon Sutter will likely be taken off of the first line.
Jan 28 - 6:19 PM

Tyler Toffoli (mono) is probable for Wednesday's game.

Toffoli has missed six straight games due to the disease. If he's in the lineup, then he'll probably skate alongside Dwight King on Jeff Carter. That would in turn cause Trevor Lewis to lose his top-six forward spot.
Jan 28 - 4:20 PM

Taylor Hall's leg injury is a bone bruise.

Hall took a shot off his leg during Monday's practice and missed Tuesday's game as a result. He's day-to-day and questionable for Thursday's contest. If he can play, then Benoit Pouliot will likely slide off the first line.
Jan 28 - 3:42 PM

Cal Clutterbuck has been handed a $2,000 fine for embellishment.

Clutterbuck is the fourth player to receive such a bill. Obviously, $2,000 is a relatively small amount for a player earning $2.75 million this season, but the hope is that by making these fines public, the players will be embarrassed into reforming.
Jan 28 - 3:25 PM

Jonas Gustavsson (shoulder) will probably need to have a conditioning stint before he rejoins the Red Wings lineup.

That stint in the minors could happen in the near future. Additionally, if he is sent down, it will probably just be for a game or two. He has a 2.30 GAA and .908 save percentage in just three games this season.
Jan 28 - 2:38 PM

Jeremy Morin is on the injured reserve list due to an upper-body injury.

Morin is out indefinitely due to the injury he sustained during Tuesday's contest. He has a goal and two assists in 17 games this season.
Jan 28 - 1:13 PM

Simon Gagne has been placed on unconditional waivers.

Gagne has already made it clear that he won't return to the Boston Bruins this season for personal reasons. In the extremely likely event that he clears waivers, Boston will probably release him.
Jan 28 - 12:16 PM

Frederik Andersen stopped all 17 shots fired his way in a 4-0 shutout win over Vancouver on Tuesday.

The Canucks were only able to muster up seven shots in the final 40 minutes of this game so he didn't have to be spectacular. Still, the Ducks' number one has won seven straight starts in what is turning out to be a fantastic campaign. Andersen is second in the NHL in wins with 27 and holds solid secondary numbers with a 2.24 GAA and .919 save percentage. The shutout was his third of the year.
Jan 28 - 1:18 AM

Steve Mason earned a victory Tuesday despite starting the game on the bench as the Flyers upended Arizona in a shootout by a score of 4-3.

Mason declared himself fit to return from a knee injury on this night, but Ray Emery received the starting nod and lasted fewer than six minutes before he was removed from the game after allowing two quick goals. Mason stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced in relief and improved his record to 9-12-6 in the process. His GAA is now 2.41 while his save percentage stands at .921.
Jan 27 - 11:08 PM

Returning from a one-game absence due to a head injury, Kris Letang showed no signs of rust by registering five helpers in a 5-3 win over Winnipeg on Tuesday.

Letang's fantasy owners have seemingly dodged a bullet since the blueliner missed just one game after he was hit by Zac Rinaldo last week and it looks like he'll pick up where he left off. Ride his hot hand for as long as you can.
