Gabriel Bourque (lower body) played Saturday for Milwaukee of the AHL.

Bourque was injured in the AHL where he played only 13 games and had been out of action since December 15. He was held pointless and now must work his way back into the Predators lineup as he had 19 points in 43 games last season. "We'll see where he is and see where his game is," Predators coach Barry Trotz said. "It doesn't have to be him. Everyone is assuming it's him, but it doesn't have to be him. It's who's playing the best." Just an FYI.

Jeff Skinner scored a pair of goals in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Dallas Stars.

Skinner got the Hurricanes on the board with 10 seconds left in the second period to cut his team's deficit to 4-1. His second tally made it 4-2 in the third. Skinner finished the night with two penalty minutes and five shots on goal in 16:17 of ice time. He's accumulated four points in his last two games, and he's up to six points in six games this season.

Aleksander Barkov picked up a goal and an assist in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Washington Capitals.

Barkov registered the primary assist on Vincent Trocheck's power play goal (3-0) in the second period. Barkov then added a shorthanded goal into an empty net in the dying moments of the third frame. He finished the game with a plus-1 rating and three shots on goal in 26:18 of ice time. Barkov now has two goals and four assists in seven games this season. The thing that stands out about Barkov right now, is that he's averaging 22:49 of ice time, which is rather high for a forward.

Anze Kopitar scored two goals and an assist in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Kopitar's first goal was scored at the 6:51 mark of the first period, and it tied the game one. He also helped set up Jake Muzzin's second-period marker, which tied the game at three. Kopitar's second goal proved to be the game-winner, as he gave Los Angeles a 5-4 lead in the third frame. The Kings captain finished the night with a plus-5 rating, three shots on goal and he managed to win 68 percent of his faceoffs. He has six goals and 11 points in seven games this season. Teammate Dustin Brown had a four-point night (one goal, three assists) in the victory.
Oct 21 - 10:51 PM

Logan Couture scored a hat trick in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the New York Islanders.

Couture's power play goal at the 6:26 mark of the second period opened the scoring in the game. Unfortunately for the Sharks, that was their only lead of the night. The three-goal effort doubled Couture's total for the season. He now has six goals and eight points in seven games this season. Seven of his eight points have come in his last three games.
Oct 21 - 10:40 PM

John Tavares picked up a goal and two assists in Saturday's 5-3 win over the San Jose Sharks.

Tavares helped set up both of Anders Lee's goals in this one. He added a goal of his own (an empty-netter) in the final minute of regulation. The Islanders captain finished tonight's contest with a plus-2 rating and two shots on goal in 20:10 of ice time. Tavares now has three goals and three assists in eight games this season. Believe it or not, all of Tavares' points have come in two contests.
Oct 21 - 10:38 PM

Auston Matthews had a goal and an assist in Saturday's 6-3 loss to Ottawa.

The Leafs were down 3-0 going into the third period, but they managed to cut the deficit to 3-2 thanks to goals by James van Riemsdyk and Matthews. Later on in the period, Matthews helped set up William Nylander's power play goal, which cut the deficit to 4-3 at the time. Unfortunately for the Leafs, that's as close as they'd come to tying the game. Matthews has now picked up at least one point in seven of Toronto's eight games. He has seven goals and 12 points this season.
Oct 21 - 10:25 PM

Mark Stone scored two goals and an assist in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Stone had no points through two periods, but he did all of his damage in the third frame. His first goal gave Ottawa a 4-2 lead, while his second tally made it 6-3 (empty-netter) for the Sens. Stone also picked up the primary assist on Derick Brassard's second goal of the game. Stone finished the game with a plus-4 rating and seven shots on goal in 18:30 of ice time. The Sens forward now has four multi-point efforts this season. He's up to five goals and nine points in eight games in 2017-18.
Oct 21 - 10:23 PM

Brad Marchand scored a pair of goals in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres.

Marchand's first-period goal extended Boston's lead to 2-0 at the time, while his goal in the middle frame made it 3-0 for the Bruins. Unfortunately for Boston, they let the lead slip away and eventually lost on a Ryan O'Reilly goal in overtime. Marchand finished tonight's game with five shots on goal in 21:27 of ice time. Marchand has now picked up at least one point in five straight games (he has 10 points during that stretch). Marchand is up to six goals and 11 points in seven games this season.
Oct 21 - 10:14 PM

Ryan O'Reilly scored the game-winning goal in Buffalo's 5-4 overtime win over the Boston Bruins on Saturday night.

The Sabres overcame a three-goal deficit in this one, as they were down 3-0 and 4-1 in the second period. O'Reilly stole the puck behind the Bruins net before cutting to the front of the goal and beating Boston's Anton Khudobin in the extra frame. The Sabres forward also helped set up Jason Pominville's second-period goal. O'Reilly is now riding a four-game point streak. He has three goals and four assists in nine games this season.
Oct 21 - 10:11 PM

Steven Stamkos scored a goal and three assists in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

There's no stopping the Tampa Bay Lightning offense right now. Stamkos helped set up both Nikita Kucherov's goals (one came on the power play). He also added a power play tally of his own in the opening frame. The 27-year-old has now picked up at least one point in each of Tampa's nine games this season. Stamkos already has three goals and 15 assists in 2017-18. It's good to see Stamkos healthy and contributing to the Bolts' success again.
Oct 21 - 9:55 PM

Updating a previous item, David Krejci (upper body) won't play against the Buffalo Sabres.

Krejci took part in the pregame warmup, but he will be a late scratch. He apparently isn't feeling well enough to play, so get him out of your lineups before puck drop.
