Lashoff was brought up as insurance in case Jonathan Ericsson (shoulder) can't play. Lashoff has six points and 23 penalty minutes in 36 AHL games this season.

David Backes scored the overtime winner in St. Louis' 4-3 win over the Stars in Game 2.

Backes was standing in front of the net while the Blues' were on the power play, and he buried a rebound by Stars goalie Antti Niemi. Backes finished the game with a goal, an assist and seven hits in 20:55 of ice time. Alex Steen and Kevin Shattenkirk assisted on the game-winning goal. The Blues and Stars will head to St. Louis with their best of-seven series tied 1-1.

Jaromir Jagr has been named one of the three finalists for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.

The award is given to the player who "best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey." At 44-year-old years old, Jagr has definitely shown dedication to the game. The Panthers forward has worked hard to stay in great game shape and it showed with his performance on the ice. Jagr had 27 goals and 66 points in 79 games in 2015-16. Pascal Dupuis (Penguins) and Mats Zuccarello (Rangers) are the other two finalists for the award.

Brooks Oprik will have a hearing for his hit on Olli Maatta in Game 2.

Orpik nailed Maatta with a high-hit that was also very late. Orpik's shoulder hit Maatta right in the head. Maatta was slow to get up and took his time leaving the ice. Orpik was given a two-minute penalty for interference on the play. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Department of Player Safety suspend Orpik for a game or two. The Capitals and Penguins are tied 1-1 heading into Game 3 on Monday night.

It was tanksational, as the Toronto Maple Leafs won the NHL Draft Lottery on Saturday night.

The Leafs finished in last place overall in 2015-16, which gave them the best odds at winning the coveted first overall slot at 20%. The odds were with them, and now will have the pleasure of deciding between Auston Matthews and the rest of the field.

Tyler Johnson led the Lightning past the Islanders 4-1 in Saturday's Game 2.

Johnson scored the game's opening tally, and the game's final for his two goals. He also added an assist in between. Johnson now has four goals and 10 points through seven games thus far.

Aleksander Barkov has been nominated for the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy.

The trophy is awarded "to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability." Should he win the award, he'll join Brian Campbell (2012) as the only winners in franchise history.

Valeri Nichushkin will indeed play in Game 2 against St. Louis, now that Patrick Eaves is sidelined with a foot injury.

While Eaves is considered day-to-day, he was seen on crutches on Saturday. Nichushkin has no points through five games this postseason, and just two in 11 career playoff games.

Logan Couture popped another pair of goals as San Jose took Game 1 over Nashville 5-2.

Through the first six games of his postseason, only once has Couture been held off the stat sheet. With the goals he's now up to points in three straight, with three goals and eight points in all.

Brent Burns extended his multi-point streak to three games during Friday's 5-2 Game 1 win over Nashville.

Burns collected a pair of helpers, along with six shots plus three hits and blocks during his 25:08 of work. He now has eight assists during the postseason, giving him the lead in that category and pulling him within one point of John Tavares' lead in points (11).

Martin Jones continued his strong play during Friday's Game 1 victory over Nashville.

Jones turned away 29 of 31 shots, including three of four on the kill. It's worth noting that the second goal was initially deflected off course by Brent Burns before it hit the unsuspecting Ryan Johansen, and going in. No matter, Jones and the Sharks came away with the 5-2 win.

Radek Faksa scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 2-1 win over the Blues in Game 1.

Faksa also picked up the primary assist on Antoine Roussel's opening goal in the second period. Faksa potted him the go-ahead goal with just under five minutes remaining in regulation. The 22-year-old has two goals and four points in seven postseason games this year. The Stars now lead the best-of-seven series 1-0. Game 2 goes Sunday afternoon in Dallas.
