Kris Versteeg, who had been out with a groin injury, will make his season debut on Tuesday versus Tampa Bay.

He will play with Tomas Fleischmann and Tomas Kopecky on the top line, with Stephen Weiss still sidelined with a reported groin ailment. Feel free to activate him from your injured reserve list and adjust your lineup accordingly.

It appears as though Anders Bjork will start the year with Boston and it could be on the same line as Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand.

Coach Bruce Cassidy was asked if Bjork looks like he belongs on the team and he said: "Yes, sure does to me. Again, the competition will stiffen for him and we'll keep evaluating that. He has skill, speed, and he's got courage. He gets to the dirty areas. He is hard to play against. He gives second effort on pucks. It's not one and done with him, and for a young kid, that's special, to be able to hang in there and battle for those turnovers. That's usually the part of the game you have to continue to grind on them — but he has a lot of that. I'd like to think some of that is Bergy and Marchy's influence." Bjork is still learning, but he has the talent and the opportunity to get his pro career off to a strong start.

Louis Domingue suffered an upper-body injury in Monday's game against the Anaheim Ducks.

Domingue was injured in the second period and he never returned. The Coyotes tweeted that he was being held out for "precautionary reasons". It doesn't sound like the injury is very serious, but they'll probably provide an update in the next day or so. We'll consider Domingue day-to-day for now.
Sep 26 - 12:56 AM

Andrew Desjardins has been suspended for two exhibition games by the NHL's Department of Players Safety.

Desjardins delivered an illegal check to the head of Devils forward Miles Wood last week. Missing preseason games isn't a big deal for most players, but Desjardins is attending Rangers camp on a professional tryout, so these two games could be the difference between getting a contract and being released.
Sep 25 - 7:59 PM

Jonathan Drouin will miss Monday's exhibition game against Toronto because of an upper-body injury.

Drouin is currently listed as day-to-day. Torrey Mitchell will play in his place. Montreal will play three more preseason matches before opening the regular season on Oct. 5 at Buffalo.
Sep 25 - 1:59 PM

Robby Fabbri will sit out the rest of training camp after re-injuring his surgically repaired left knee.

Fabbri said he felt good after returning to action on Saturday, so this news comes as a surprise. The Blues will re-evaluate his status in 10 days. St. Louis has been hit hard by injuries at training camp with Jay Bouwmeester, Alexander Steen and Zach Sanford joining Patrik Berglund on the injury list going into the regular season.
Sep 24 - 1:30 PM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson suffered a lower-body injury in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Sharks and did not return.

Ekman-Larsson will be re-evaluated on Sunday but any down time will certainly hurt the Coyotes as Ekman-Larsson is their top player and by far their best blueliner. Ekman-Larsson needed help getting off the ice and that is never a good sign. Ekman-Larsson is capable of 20-plus goals and 50-55 points in a healthy season but this certainly won't help. Stay tuned as OEL was slated for a day off on Sunday anyway.
Sep 24 - 5:15 AM

Coach Randy Carlyle put Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry back together in practice Saturday.

The duo spent plenty of time apart last season but were re-united in the playoffs when Patrick Eaves was injured. Eaves could wind up on the other side of Getzlaf and Perry once he returns from injury. Other line combinations for Anaheim as they head into the season were Rickard Rakell centering wingers Andrew Cogliano and Jakob Silfverberg and Antoine Vermette between Nick Ritchie and Ondrej Kase. Getzlaf should be drafted in the fifth or sixth rounds of most drafts as he is likely to get 15-20 goals and 70-80 points barring injury in 2017-18.
Sep 24 - 5:08 AM

Capitals forward Tom Wilson has been suspended for two pre-season games for interference on Blues rookie Robert Thomas.

Wilson caught Thomas with a hit over a full second after the latter lost the puck. It's quite surprising Wilson was only suspended for two meaningless pre-season games. However, he now qualifies as a repeat offender and is eligible for a much harsher punishment the next time he is deemed to have crossed the line.
Sep 23 - 4:05 PM

Alexander Steen is likely to start the season on the injured list.

He will miss the rest of training camp with a broken hand and will need at least a few weeks to ramp up once he is deemed healthy enough to return. Don't expect much from Steen during the month of October.
Sep 23 - 1:09 PM

Steven Stamkos looked very good in his first game action since November of last year.

Stamkos registered two assists in the Bolts' 3-1 win Friday night and seemed back to his old self. This is great news for Stamkos owners and the Lightning coaching staff. Put the talented 27-year-old high on your draft lists next week.
Sep 23 - 11:34 AM

Erik Karlsson looked very good in his first skate of training camp Saturday morning.

Karlsson, who is recovering from surgery to repair tendons in his foot, could be ready to start the season on time. Initially, the prognosis was that the superstar defenseman would miss a few weeks. Stay tuned for further updates.
