Ian White (lacerations on leg) is expected to start skating later this week.

GM Ken Holland said that White is still at least a week away from returning to action so do not activate him just yet. He was injured a week ago and needed surgery to repair the lacerations above his knee and the thought was he would miss two-three weeks. White said it would be closer to two and that would bring him back later next week.

The Winnipeg Jets will start Steve Mason on Saturday night against the St. Louis Blues.

Mason has been sidelined since the end of November when he suffered a concussion against the San Jose Sharks. He comes into the game with a 2-4-1 record with a 3.45 goals against average and .904 save percentage. Coming off a long layoff, you're better off turning to your other options in goal tonight.
Dec 16 - 12:09 PM

The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that prospect Timothy Liljegren has been loaned to Sweden for the upcoming World Junior Championship tournament.

The 18-year-old blueliner has appeared in 17 games with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL, picking up one goal and eight assists. It's still too early for him to make an NHL impact but he is someone to keep an eye on in the next couple of years. Lilegren was the 17th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft.
Dec 16 - 12:02 PM

Carter Hutton will get the start in Saturday's game against the Winnipeg Jets.

Hutton has been out for five games because of a lower-body injury, but he's good to go tonight. He has a 4-2-0 record with a 1.88 goals-against-average and a .937 save percentage. Hutton has dropped each of his last two decisions.
Dec 16 - 11:36 AM

Mika Zibanejad (concussion) participated in the Rangers' Friday morning skate.

Although Zibanejad won't play Saturday against the Bruins, the hope is he might be able to practice on Monday and play Tuesday against the Ducks. Stay tuned for further updates.
Dec 16 - 11:13 AM

Both Henrik and Daniel Sedin picked up three assists each in a 4-3 overtime win over the San Jose Sharks.

The twins picked up a pair of assists on both on Markus Granlund's goals, and then another pair of assists on Brock Boeser's 17th goal of the season. Henrik Sedin is now up to 22 points in 33 games this season, with 15 of them coming in his last 13 games. He's well worth picking up in fantasy leagues if his slow start put him on your waiver wire.
Dec 16 - 12:41 AM

Henrik Zetterberg picked up a pair of assists in Friday's 3-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Zetterberg registered primary assists on Danny Dekeyser's goal in the second period that tied the game at one and on Tomas Tatar's power play goal in the third frame to make 3-1. The Red Wings captain finished the night with a plus-1 rating, one shot on goal and two hits in 17:59 of ice time. The 37-year-old now has five goals and 15 points in 32 games. He's currently riding a three-game point streak. Trevor Daley scored the game-winning goal (shorthanded) for Detroit.
Dec 15 - 11:13 PM

The Arizona Coyotes recalled Nick Merkley from the AHL on Friday.

He wasn't able to participate in Coyotes training camp because he was out with a torn ACL, but he's healthy and ready to prove himself now. The 20-year-old was selected in the first round, 30th overall, in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Merkley has never played in an NHL game, but he's been ripping it up in the AHL this season. He currently has 12 goals and 12 assists in 20 AHL games. It'll be interesting to see if the rebuilding Coyotes give him a real shot to stick with the club.
Dec 15 - 11:11 PM

Jimmy Howard stopped 25 of 26 shots in Friday's 3-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It was just Howard's second victory in his last 11 games. The win also put an end to his three-game losing streak. Howard gave up the game's first goal less than two minutes into the opening period, but he managed to shut the door the rest of the way. The Red Wings goalie now owns a 10-9-6 record with a 2.83 goals-against-average and a .908 save percentage this season. He can't really be trusted in standard fantasy leagues.
Dec 15 - 11:02 PM

Jack Eichel scored a hat trick in Friday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Eichel's first goal tied the game at one midway through the second period. With the Sabres trailing 4-2 in the third period, Eichel scored back-to-back goals in 10 seconds to tie the game at four. Unfortunately for the Sabres, they allowed Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin to score the game-winning goal in the extra frame. Eichel has 11 goals and 28 points in 33 games this season. He now has nine points in his last seven contests.
Dec 15 - 10:46 PM

Jaccob Slavin scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 5-4 overtime win over the Buffalo Sabres.

Slavin registered the primary assist on Jordan Staal's game-tying goal (2-2) early in the third period. He then beat Sabres goalie Chad Johnson with a wrister from the slot in the extra frame to give his team the win. Slavin finished the night with a plus-1 rating and four shots on goal in 24:19 of ice time. Tonight's offensive production put an end to Slavin's 12-game pointless drought. He now has three goals and eight assists in 31 games this season. Justin Williams, Derek Ryan and Elias Lindholm also scored for the 'Canes in the win.
Dec 15 - 10:43 PM

Alexander Radulov scored in Friday's 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

Radulov was hurt in Wednesday's game, but he managed to come back and contribute offensively tonight. His goal tied the game at two in the second period, but the Devils responded by scoring the next three. The 31-year-old is having a pretty strong first year with the Stars, as he has 11 goals and 27 points in 33 games in 2017-18. Martin Hanzal also found the back of the net for Dallas.
