Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler was forced from Saturday's game against the Kings after being hit from behind by Jarret Stoll.

The third-year player had to be helped off the ice after going hard into the boards and the severity of the injury is not yet known. Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau was unhappy with the lack of a penalty call and hopes the NHL reviews the incident. "They have to have to look at that," Boudreau said. "He might be OK tomorrow or he might be out for a while." We recommend you reserve Fowler until further notice.

Jonathan Drouin (illness) will probably play on Monday.

Drouin said that he's ready while Lightning coach Jon Cooper was a bit less definitive by saying that there was "a good chance." Drouin missed Saturday's game, which led to Steve Stamkos playing on a line with Brett Connolly. If Drouin returns on Monday, then Connolly will probably be taken off of the top line.

Ondrej Palat is dealing with an undisclosed injury.

Palat is being regarded as a game-time decision on Monday. He has nine goals and 24 points in 34 games this season. If Palat can't play then J.T. Brown is projected to take his place on the second line with Nikita Kucherov and Tyler Johnson.
Dec 29 - 12:05 PM

Matthew Nieto (ankle) will probably return to the Sharks' lineup on Tuesday.

Nieto was upbeat after Sunday's practice. "I'm ready. That was the first practice I actually had with the whole team in awhile," Nieto said. "It was good to get out there with all the guys and compete and do some battles. It's ready. Good to go." Sharks coach Todd McLellan wasn't ready to say beyond all doubt that Nieto would be available on Tuesday, but he's certainly aware of Nieto's feelings on the subject. Nieto hasn't played since Dec. 4.
Dec 29 - 11:28 AM

Jaroslav Halak (lower body) will start on Monday.

It will be Halak's first game since Dec. 20. He has a 2.24 GAA and .919 save percentage in 24 contests in 2014-15.
Dec 29 - 11:10 AM

Brian Elliott (knee) has been cleared by Blues doctors to return.

He participated in a full practice Sunday, but he won't jump back into the lineup yet. "We're going to start Marty (Monday), but our hope is that (Elliott) is ready here in the next couple of days," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "We're hopeful that after (Blues goalie coach Jim Corsi) works with him today, he feels good and he's up and running and ready to go." The Blues plan to keep three goaltenders until Elliott is activated from injured reserve and he proves his knee is 100 percent.
Dec 29 - 10:24 AM

Mikael Granlund (upper body) has been placed on injured reserve.

He had a goal and an assist in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to Winnipeg, but suffered an upper-body injury in the contest. Granlund will be sidelined for at least a week due to the ailment.
Dec 29 - 9:59 AM

Patrice Bergeron (undisclosed) is being listed as day-to-day.

He didn't practice on Sunday and it's unclear if he'll play in Monday's match against Detroit. Bergeron will be re-evaluated on Monday to determine his status. He saw three shifts in the third period of Saturday's game against Columbus before he was pulled for precautionary reasons.
Dec 29 - 7:27 AM

Evander Kane is slated to be re-evaluated to see if he'll play in Monday's game against Minnesota.

He blocked a shot late in Saturday's game versus the Wild and he missed Sunday's practice as a result. Patrice Cormier was called up from the minors, which means you should consider Kane day-to-day until the Jets update his status.
Dec 29 - 7:12 AM

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced that Jonathan Bernier will miss Sunday's game against the Florida Panthers because of "flu-like symptoms."

The Maple Leafs say that it isn't the mumps, or at least hasn't been confirmed yet. There's no word regarding whether he's expected to miss an extended amount of time, but make adjustments for today.
Dec 28 - 3:06 PM

With Calvin Pickard demoted and Reto Berra not impressing, the Colorado Avalanche expect to lean on Semyon Varlamov very heavily.

Colorado made a big investment in Berra via a trade, but apparently he's already lost favor. Varlamov, 26, is 5-6-5 with a .913 save percentage so far this season. The Russian netminder made all 26 stops in his return to action against the St. Louis Blues on Dec. 23.
Dec 28 - 2:52 PM

It seems like Carolina Hurricanes forward Jordan Staal is just about certain to make his 2014-15 season debut on Monday, something he admitted to being "anxious" about.

This situation could be fluid, but for now, it looks like he's centering a line with his brother Eric Staal and Nathan Gerbe. That could be a line to watch if it has any staying power.
