Martin Erat should be considered day-to-day after suffering a foot injury at practice Friday.

Erat sat out Saturday's game as he has a deep bruise on his foot. The Predators want the swelling to go down before he is allowed back on the ice. Stay tuned.

Tampa Bay has flipped Mark Streit to Pittsburgh in exchange for a fourth round draft pick in 2018 during a whirlwind trade deadline day for the defenseman.

Tampa will also retain half of Streit's remaining cap, after the Flyers' agreed to retain 4.7%. Through 49 games with the Flyers this season the veteran defender has posted five goals and 21 points along with 22 PIMs and 58 hits. At age-39 he's still averaging 19:23 of ice time. He'll slide it nicely on the back end of Pittsburgh's blue line, and likely their secondary power play unit.

Jeff Skinner has a stiff neck and not a concussion.

That's a relief even though he won't play on Wednesday. Skinner should be back in the lineup on Friday night.
Mar 1 - 3:14 PM

Eric Fehr is heading to the Toronto Maple Leafs in a three player deal.

Defenseman Steve Oleksy and a fourth rounder are also headed Toronto's way while defenseman Frankie Corrado is headed for Pittsburgh. Fehr had six goals and 11 points this season for the Penguins in 52 games before being placed on waivers Tuesday and passing through on Wednesday.

Curtis Lazar has been shipped to the Calgary Flames along with Mike Kostka.

The Senators will receive a second-round pick and defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka in the trade. Lazar will get a fresh start with the Flames after he posted just one assist in 33 games this season.
Mar 1 - 2:59 PM

Valtteri Filppula is off to Philadelphia with a fourth round and a conditional seventh round pick in exchange for Mark Streit.

The Lightning are trying to get rid of salary and lose Filppula's $5 million cap hit next season for an expiring contract in Streit. Filppula has seven goals and 34 points in 59 games thus far this season and will give the Flyers some offensive, something that has been lacking of late in the City of Brotherly Love.
Mar 1 - 2:41 PM

Jonathan Toews has been selected as the first star of the month for February.

He racked up eight goals and 18 points in 10 games. Toews finished the month with a six-game point streak and he was held off the scoresheet one time in 10 outings.
Mar 1 - 1:13 PM

Michal Neuvirth has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Neuvirth will get $2.5 million per season and it certainly looks like Steve Mason may be in play before the trade deadline. Neuvirth has struggled with injuries this season and is 10-9-1 with a 2.90 GAA and a .887 save percentage. He has not been a great fantasy netminder this season but had a 2.27 GAA and a .924 save percentage last season.

Thomas Vanek is taking his things to southern Florida as Detroit picks up half his remaining cap hit in exchange for a conditional third round draft pick in 2017 and Dylan McIlrath.

The condition is that if Florida makes the playoffs, then Detroit will receive Arizona's third round pick. Otherwise they'll receive Florida's. Vanek has had a resurgent season for Detroit, posting 15 goals and 38 points in 48 games with a 15.2% shooting clip. Expect him to skate on Florida's third line alongside Nick Bjugstad and see some power-play action.

Barry Trotz earned his 700th career win as a head coach on Tuesday.

Trotz is just the sixth coach to ever reach that milestone after Lindy Ruff, Ken Hitchcock, Al Arbour, Joel Quenneville, and Scotty Bowman. Most of Trotz's wins came during his time with Nashville, but he does have an outstanding 143-57-26 record with Washington. "I've been blessed to coach a lot of great players and been with two wonderful organizations and surround myself with really smart people," Trotz said. "The assistant coaches and the associate coaches over the years, they're a big part. They do a lot of the work and I've just been blessed to have been doing it for as long as I have and the players responding and playing as well as they have to get those wins."

Alexander Burmistrov, who left Tuesday's game on a stretcher following a hit from Boston's Colin Miller, has been released from the hospital.

Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said that it seems like Burmistrov will be alright. Burmistrov also said he was okay in an Instagram message he posted from the hospital. Burmistrov will even join the Coyotes on their trip to Buffalo, though we don't know if he's alright to play in that game.
