Vincent Lecavalier doesn't expect to miss any games due to his foot injury.

Lecavalier was relieved to find out that he didn't break a bone after absorbing Sami Salo's slap shot on Saturday. Instead, Lecavalier has a bone bruise that he's been icing for a couple of days. "It definitely could have been worse," he said. "We'll re-evaluate it (today), but I think it will be fine for Tuesday." Lecavalier has four goals and 11 points in eight games this season.

If you have more than $400 million lying around, you might be able to buy the Carolina Hurricanes.

That's in the range of what the New York Islanders sold for and Hurricanes owner Peter Karmanos Jr. thinks his club has close to the same value. Karmanos isn't desperate to sell the team, but at the age of 71 he is starting to think about who the next owner of the Hurricanes will be. To that end, he's enlisted a New York investment firm, Allen & Co., so that a gradual buyout of his shares can be negotiated. Karmanos is interesting in maintaining control of the team for several more years. "I want to do the proper job in planning," Karmanos said. "Teams have gone up incredibly in value. I'm 71 and have a wife and four young kids at home. You plan. Is it wrong to do that? There's no real intrigue here."

Viktor Stalberg exited Monday's practice with a lower-body injury.

He appeared to keeping the weight off his right leg when he left the ice. Stalberg is slated to be re-evaluated and then we should know about his status. He scored just eight goals and 10 assists in 70 games last season, but it's thought that he'll be better suited playing under new coach Peter Laviolette than he was with Barry Trotz in charge. Stalberg was skating on a line with Calle Jarnkrok and Olli Jokinen in the session. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk injured his shoulder in Monday's preseason-opening 2-1 win over Pittsburgh.

Datsyuk reportedly suffered the injury as a result of a Rob Scuderi hit. There's no word on the severity of the ailment, but Red Wings fans will be holding their breath until he gets re-evaluated on Tuesday.

Ryan Johansen and his agent, Kurt Overhardt, have reportedly lowered his contract demands.

The report says the latest offer was set at two years at $4.7 million per year. Overhardt has now reduced their original asking price by more than $2 million per season. The Blue Jackets probably want Johansen's demands to lower a bit more before they start meaningful negotiations.

Mikael Backlund wasn't able to skate on Monday because of an abdominal strain.

The injury has prevented him from participating in training camp and there are indications that it could be worse than initially thought. Coach Bob Hartley said, "I don't have any news to tell you, but I'm worried." Backlund is still being listed as day-to-day.

Sidney Crosby did not participate in the team’s scrimmage on Sunday.

Crosby hit the ice on Friday but hasn’t taken part in any on-ice workouts since. The exact injury is unknown, but the Penguins don’t expect their captain to play in their first preseason game against Detroit on Monday.

Jonathan Drouin missed Tampa Bay’s scrimmage on Sunday as he is dealing with an upper-body injury.

Drouin is believed to be dealing with a hand injury. The 19-year-old is listed as day-to-day. The injury shouldn’t affect Drouin’s availability to play in preseason games. "He’ll be in exhibition games," said Lightning head coach Jon Cooper. "I’m not sure about scrimmages, but in exhibition games for sure." The Lightning play their first preseason game at home against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night.

Steven Stamkos missed Sunday’s scrimmage and is questionable to play in Monday’s scrimmage.

Stamkos broke his leg last November and had to remove a screw in his right tibia bone last month. "We’ve got a plan for him and we don’t want to [rush him]," said Lightning head coach Jon Cooper. "We want to make sure that when we are getting down to the nuts and bolts of our team that he is going to be able to play. He’s able to play now, we just want to see other guys. We know what he can do." It sounds like Tampa Bay is just being cautious with their superstar.

Jarrett Stoll hopes to play in at least one game during the preseason.

Stoll had surgery during the off-season to repair a chip and labrum tear in his hip. The 32-year-old believes he suffered the injury during last year’s Western Conference final against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Bobby Ryan had his "bell rung" during Sunday's scrimmage.

Ryan isn't experiencing concussion symptoms, but won't play in Monday's preseason game as a precaution. As we mentioned before, the stakes are low right now so it's completely feasible that the Senators are simply deciding to err heavily on the side of caution. After all, they have nothing to lose by keeping Ryan out of the preseason contest. That being said, head injuries are tricky and sometimes a player's outlook will be optimistic initially, but turn sour quickly. Hopefully that won't be the case here.
