Brent Burns (lower body) could make his season debut as early as Saturday, according to coach Todd McLellan.

Burns was paired with D Brad Stuart in practice Friday, leading us to think optimistically about Burns' chances to play Saturday. If that's the case, the Sharks would have to clear a roster spot before tomorrow night and activate Burns from injured reserve. We'll update you as soon as we know more, but it sounds like Burns is very close.

Jonathan Bernier made 34 saves and let one puck get past him as the Ducks downed the Canucks 4-1 Tuesday.

Bernier has two shutouts so far, but this was his third-best save percentage of the season. He logged a .971 against the Sharks on March 18 and while that game was a virtual tie for Tuesday’s contest, he faced one fewer shot on goal. Bernier entered the night with a season-long save percentage of .917 and a GAA of 2.47. He improved both stats significantly with this win.

That was only Gryba’s second goal of the season, but it was one of the most important ones for the team this year. His game winning goal clinched a playoff berth for the Oilers. The Russian sniper finished the game with a plus-1 rating, six shots on goal and one hit in 16:15 of ice time. Ovechkin now has eight points in his last five contests. He's up to 33 goals and 33 assists in 75 games. T.J. Oshie scored the game-winning goal in overtime.

Montreal went on to score three more goals (Brendan Gallagher, Artturi Lehkonen, Alexander Radulov) in the third frame. Pacioretty also picked up the only assist on Radulov's 16th goal of the season. The Canadiens captain now has 34 goals and 29 assists in 76 games.

Matthews has now broken Wendel Clark's record of 34 goals for a rookie in Toronto Maple Leafs franchise history. He has also opened the scoring in a game for a league high 14 times, tied for second most in a season since Pavel Bure had 15 during the 1999-2000 season. He will likely be on many fantasy championship teams at the conclusion of the week.
