The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired Scott Darling from the Carolina Hurricanes for a third-round pick in 2017.

Darling is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, so the Hurricanes will look to re-sign him to a new deal before that point. Darling has been the backup to Corey Crawford over the last three seasons, but he's done well whenever he's been asked to shoulder the load. "We could count on Scott in any situation as he was always reliable," GM Stan Bowman said in a release. "We appreciate his contributions to the Blackhawks organization -- including a Stanley Cup Championship team -- and we wish him well as he continues his career in Carolina." The 28-year-old had an 18-5-5 record with a 2.38 goals-against-average and a .924 save percentage in 2016-17. Even though Cam Ward and Eddie Lack are still in Carolina, Darling will likely get a chance to be the starter if he re-signs with them.

Carl Hagelin (lower body) was able to fully participate in Friday's practice.

Hagelin had joined the Penguins for previous practices, but he had been getting no or limited contact until now. Now that he's progressed to full contact, Penguins coach Mike Sullivan is calling Hagelin a game-time decision for Saturday's contest. It remains to be seen who would be scratched to make room for Hagelin if he does play. "Regardless of what we line we put him on, he brings that element of speed, his ability to stretch the ice, his pursuit game, forces turnovers all the time and we can create a lot of offense off of it," Sullivan said. "He’s a good penalty killer; he’s a solid two-way player. So we can use him in a number of different capacities, but I think his speed certainly helps us play the type of game that we want to play and we’re a more competitive team when he’s in the lineup."

Draisaitl finally put the game away in the third frame, as he was able to score an empty-netter with just over a minute left in regulation. Moments after Getzlaf's stick shattered, Mark Letestu found the back of the net to tie the game. The Ducks captain was able to cut Edmonton's third-period lead to 3-2 by picking up the primary assist on Patrick Eaves' goal. Getzlaf now has four goals and three assists in five games this postseason. Anaheim will look to even up the series at home on Friday night.
